Another fantastic review! You know it's a good bike when Jeff has no complaints about it in the initial ride video and is immediately comfortable on the bike
I've been wanting you to ride the new firebird for quite sometime! I got this bike a few months ago and totally and immediately fell in love! It's the perfect balance for how I like to ride!
Thanks for another great review. Logan is a great addition. Good to see him behind the camera as well as on the bike. He is a keeper. I think the color of the Firebird is greyeen.
I just got my Pivot Switchblade and it's more than capable enough for my use. That thing would be overkill for me, so glad I can watch someone use it at least. Looks like another proper tool on wheels.
Yeah, I feel exactly the same. Got my Switchblade a bit over a year ago and always looked at the Firebird as "too much bike" for my level of skill and what I can ride. It's pretty satisfying to watch someone who does have the skill to take full advantage of it though!
I've been riding my Switchblade for about 3 months and absolutely love it. I've hit double black trails locally and never felt under-biked. I demo'd the Firebird recently just for fun and boy is that thing fast downhill, just not willing to take the uphill penalty. Sooooo fast though and stable.
I was at a bike park in Europe recently and they had the Firebird avail, thought I’d give it a try. Found it rides much lighter than what I’d expect from the specs, which is good. On the spectrum between nimble\playful vs stable/confident, found it’s very much on that nimble end… so very easy to jump, change directions, etc… but felt I had to ride it with much more surgical precision when at speed because that extreme nimbleness does make it naturally skittish.
@@th_js - howdy, I was at Les Gets/Morzine bike park in France. Super amazing place, a bike shop called Delavay Sports rents Pivots and Commencal (the Supreme DH is absolutely incredible, which I rented as well)
Nice review. I love riding the Firebird after coming from a Ripmo AF. It’s a more capable Ripmo, which is well suited to my riding style & the local DH trails.
SO happy you got your hands on this one! I'm riding my OG Ripmo and loving it, but just lately been getting a little curious about what's on the market these days. Was looking at this, the Spire, a few other things. Keep coming back to thinking if I buy a 2nd bike it'll just be a full on DH bike though, for the bike park days. Everything else just seems like it would be marginal upgrades over the Ripmo in terms of capability at the limits.
I wrote a response to this video about the pivot brand and the short version of what happened to me a couple of years ago. If you are riding Ibis I would not even consider pivot. Long story short their warranty service is complete crap.
I've done the classic velcro under the brake pad fins trick on my XT 4pots and it's silenced the brake pad rattle. Its annoying that they make so much noise out of the box but its a simple fix. Great vid Jeff :D
Hello Jeff....i love to see your bike review. As we know lately many manufacturers have already started producing long bikes. Maybe after this I can see the Transition Spire so called The Nimble Bruiser...low, long & slack. Thanks
Jeff, would love for you to have a crack on the Switchblade on the exact same trails & do a compare on the two. Slightly less travel but similar aesthetics to the Firebird.
Looking good, going fast. Safety third :P I once dropped a customers brand new S-Works frame on the floor. Chipped a good chunk of paint off of the headtube.

Hey Jeff, it’s weird the Enduro S wheel spokes have broken for me on many occasions. I had to sent it back to i9 so they can fix the the constant spokes snapping. They snapped more than 4x.
During the video, you and Logan said the Pivot felt active on the climb, similar to the Evil, except there is less blow through. Does that mean less pedal bob? Would a coil vs airshock make a difference? Or is that with a coil on the Evil too? Curious to hear what is the better climber?
None of these bikes have pedal bob, just different traits to how much the suspension will compress per each type of impact. The Pivot pedals great, but it's still a big bike. I generally prefer air shocks, and just got one here for the Firebird.
@@JeffKendallWeed thanks for the reply. Looking at the Pivot, it has a lot more travel then the Offering (an equally comparable bike from Evil would be the Wreckoning), but with a DW linkage system also. I’m definitely interested in their bikes and appreciate the review!
excellent review as always Jeff. I just built a custom Switchblade (already watched your review for that bike) and wondering if I should have gone up to the firebird instead.
