U2 - Beautiful Day (Bass cover with tabs)

Beautiful Day is a perfect example for a rhythmic concept that I call: "asymmetrical eighth note patterns".
Over the even 4/4-beat bass and drums are playing groupings of 3, 4 and 6 which results in multiple accent shiftings. The best way to count this, is to count the groupings rather than the beats.
The main theme would be counted like this:
bars 1+ 2:
123 - 123 - 12I3 - 123 - 1234 (the bar line is between 2 & 3 of the third three-note group)
bars 3+4:
123456 - 12 I 12345678

WOuldn't you consider this a 3 over 4 feel? As it's triplets over a 4/4 beat.

There are no triplets in this groove, it's just three consecutive eighth notes.
3 over 4 - as I understand it - means to superimpose a 3-beat meter over an 4-beat meter which results in polyrhythm. I don't think that this is the case here. To me it's just accent shifting. But if anyone knows better, please let me know!
