Waterloo as a whole is a great place to have food and go to a few bars without breaking the bank. It’s looking for the local shops as opposed to the big chains and you can keep your budget well down.
go to street markets ( or camden market etc) near closing time and clean up on cheap food they will want to sell up and go home - sometimes try a haggle

I appreciate the excellent manners this guy has when he orders his food. The cold doughnut didn't interest me at all, but that smoked salmon bun for £3.50, that was an amazing price, in or out of London.
You have great energy, I've never subscribed so quickly. It was fun to see London like a friend was taking me around. I'm too poor to eat anywhere in my Canadian city, and from what I've heard, the restaurants are trying to serve us all 1/2 sized portions now.
Used to go to Beigel Bake afterhours in the 80’s. They had a shelf along one wall so the cabbies could eat and drink in a rush. I used to live for the Salt Beef sandwiches and Lox & Bagels.
Honestly, I went to Bun house 2 years ago and had *my worst experience with a waiter. 5:30 It was during the summer so the tables were full and the queue was long. To celebrate my friend’s birthday, we went to China Town and decided to eat here because of the cheap prices. Once 30 minutes passed, we were guided to our seats and ordered a 7.60 meal to share because we were on a budget. Once SAT IN OUR SEATS, the waiter tells us ‘unless you spend more than 10.00 you cannot dine in’, and basically kicks us out. Whilst standing outside, I paid 7.60 for the meal, my friend didn’t pay because I wanted to treat her. I gave the man a 10.00 note. 10 minutes later, the waiter returns and gives me 2.00 in change, but when I tried to ask for the leftover 40p change, he disrespectfully brushed me off. I understand they were busy but we had a specific budget. Also, the money spent wasn’t mine, but my parents. Being pissed about 40p may seem minuscule, but I had a responsibility to return the rest of the money to them, and even 40p in this economy is something! idk AITAH? It’s not just my experience though. A pregnant woman close to her due date was told to wait in line. It was a very hot day and she clearly had trouble standing, but he didn’t even give her a chair. The woman had a friend with her so he could’ve just guided the friend to a chair for the lady even if he was busy. I’ve got no complaints about the food though, the chefs deserve the best reviews. The food was both delicious and filling. My advice to Bun house is to change your waiter and hire someone else.
Can't go wrong with Chinatown buns and snacks, then rotate a bit of Greggs sausage rolls and M&S foods hot foods section and you can make it through the entire day on less than 10 quid with some delicious food that I would buy even without a budget.

Find a Lidl, there's tonnes all over the place, and their fresh baked stuff is unreal and so cheap.
