Some very neat work there, one-handed! I’ve done a couple of bathrooms and got the same kit as you and use a similar technique. Never done behind taps before though, hence the reason I’m here.
This video is probably one of the best I’ve seen and I will be saving it for future reference. Well done!

My taps are quite close to the back tiles. The previous silicone has mould on it as it wasn't smoothed out... I was considering putting an adhesive strip over it. After watching this, I may just cut away the old silicone and reapply it myself, using a cut down profiler. I hadn't thought of that. Thank you.

great video : like another commenter, the idea of cutting down the profiler is one of those "flashes of the blindingly obvious" once told : which errrr... I hadn't worked out, so extremely helpful, ty, as now I can see how I can get in there ! thanks.

Nicely, done. i definitely need that little kit. Unfortunately, i don't have those fancy taps with my mixer taps. You can't go in between them like you did only behind which isn't easy.

Great video. How do you remove the seal in hard to reach places. Only that little space all the way

I’m using a Stanley blade with my hand and a plastic
Knife with “sharp” edge, and the vacuum and after I’m going to try sealant remover and wash it off at the e end with pvc cleaner, I have les than 8mm behind the taps….hopefully comes out like the video

Is there a reason to use saliva? I mean sealant might doesnt stick to your finger then or so? Ive heard to use soapy water as silicon doesn’t stick to it. Im learning how to do this nicely so im really just try to find the best way, also if you could mention whats the best silicone for this work would be much appreciated. Thanks

Good job. Never understood why fitters put the taps like that. How do you replace them, or get to them if there's leak?

Why would you use saliva when you habe a bath full of water to dip your finger in? I get it if your in a pinch and the water is disconnected but...

Those hexagon style tiles are bling! Where are they from?

Dip ur finger in the water to smooth it out. When using saliva you transfer bacteria to the seal making it go mouldy

Hi, Personally I find that to be an old wives tale. Being doing this 23 years professionally, but also (something I can monitor) I have three bathrooms I’ve installed in my own property 8 years ago - no issues. I’d like to see the data on it rather than anecdotal if people can direct me to some I’d happily review it.

Great tips there! In addition I taped my cut slither of profile attaching it to a 30 cm piece of dowling I had knocking about. Again, great video.. Stated as a handyman a year ago and now siliconing baths are pretty much my bread and butter.. oh and I’m getting used to the taste of silicone now! 😂
