Frank lee holt ,an American historian stated about the losing of his of war of hydrapes. In his book Alexander and the Elephant medallions he stated how Alexander was defeated by Porus. And that's why he left India.

      Then who was right?
      Greek historians?
Greek historians always wrote over the top while praising Alexander.
Chinese, Russian and Persian historians and even American historians have written that Alexander lost the battle of hydaspes

@@hemalbhatt4055 give me names!! Following the battle, Alexander founded two cities in this region, one at the spot of the battle called Nicaea (Greek for Victory) in commemoration of his success and one on the other side of the Hydaspes called Alexandria Bucephalus, to honour his faithful steed, which died soon after this battle.. this can only be explained if he won the battle of Hydaspes!! Your weird claim that he lost does not add up

this is bullshit story Porus surrendered without fight. Infact Porus made arrangements of 60,000 soldiers across the Jhelum frontier with 500 elephants with poison tusks waiting for the Macedonian army , the Macedonian army was badly hit in the first 4hours of the war due to the arrows shot from the mountains & also getting crushed by elephants but sooner used their reserved army & left flank to fight the war to victory .
Porus himself fought the war like a true warrior he killed more than 2000 Macedonians himself. Alexander was impressed by his fighting skills & gave his kingdom back.

@@harleysvideomysteries7885 why didnt alexanders army return to their stronghold bactria or even their ally taxila up north upon "winning" instead they got pushed to newer land of south..where they faced more battles despite the fact his men wanted to go back and had enough.. Alexander couldnt rule porus land and its evident from the fact that he couldnt assign satrape, tax collector for that area.Furthermore his story of winning and talk with porus was written 300 years later by ptolemy. thats a lot of time and that too when greeks needed a legend figure against the rising romans. Alex had to be labeled "the great" later on and a single retreat would have messed up the legend portfolio so it makes sense there was a lot of story writing to give his image a grand uplift.

@@dourbeen Before Alexander got to Porus, he and men already defeated the Achaemenid Empire and found 3000 tons of gold and silver bullions at its treasury at Persepolis. Having seen this staggering amount of wealth in Persia, it made sense for the Macedonians to turn back after battling Porus as there weren't much material wealth await them in the Hindu region. Before reaching India, Alexander's army also pinned down and neutralized the nomadic Saka at Battle of Jaxartes. Those tough northern Iranians were all mounted warrior armed with composite bows. Their descendant later founded the Parthian Empire which was on par with Rome in term of strength.

Tell me one thing, if porus won....why did he give access of indus river to Alexander?
If porus would have won, the logical thing for him would have been to block access of all rivers and forced alexander back into Hindukush mountains. But we know that didn't happen. And Alexander not only went ahead to River Bias behind Porus, he also managed to navigate Indus. He even managed to build a fleet of ships to transport his army down into the Indus Basin. So the theory of Porus winning over Alexander doesn't make logical sense.
