Bottomline palestine and israel both have existed in some form and shape.... even hypothetically...for millenia. Israel became more of an idea for long period... and palestine was at least one of the names of a administrative division of empires ruling vast territories.... just like syria, jordan, iraq etc etc.
If the Palestinians could have a change of heart. Perhaps the jews need to as well, although it seems as if there are a significant portion of the Israeli population that is open to living in peace with the Palestinians.
The state that combined these two people would need to have guarantees that jews could live in safety in Israel.
And that if such a state would be conceived, no matter what the dominant population was (say if the Palestinian population outgrew the Jewish population), that the jews retained full rights as free citizens of such a country.

The crimes committed on October 7th like raping women, killing children, or kidnapping a baby, was Humus has been doing for years. Secondly. Israel behaved more humanely in this conflict than any other conceivable party in any imaginable conflict. It allowed Palestinians to work in Israel, receive medical care or even migrate into their country. During war, they warn civilians where their military is operating. They admit collateral damage and apologize for it. They saved Sinwar’s life giving him a lethal brain surgery. They treated the daughter of Haniyyas daughter for her complex disease in Israel. Jordan was called Palestine as well before they got independence from Britain in 1946.

And they invented the never before existing nationality and national flag that we know today. That is exactly the problem since the beginning. The jews were never accepted in the middle east since Israel was occupied. Not by the Roman's and especially not by the arabs who treated them as "dimis" and made them pay to be safe. And before israel was reestablished most of the arabs didn't want the jews to be here even though there was a presence of jews here for thousands of years. So when israel was established and the arabs waged war and lost the shame of losing deepened the hate and didn't allow a Jewish state to be recognized by arabs (and all of that happened before the Westbank was even apart of israel and before the checkpoints).
