I’m 78 & still work out. Not like I used to, but still doing weights, walking or aerobics of some kind. There are so many good people on TH-cam who do workouts for seniors or anyone for that matter. I follow a few of them or just do weights on my own. I hope I can continue into 80 & beyond!! Good video!!❤
Excellent video!
You look great Serena! A lifetime of good habits has truly blessed you!
Serena I have to be honest when I was in MY 50s I felt great and looked good but when I hit 60 I am now 64 but something happened let's just say there's a big change when you hit your 60s I look back 10 years ago what a difference the fullness in a women's face starts to go I think it must be 60 when it starts atleast it did for me and i have always eaten right no processed foods mostly vegetables my chicken for soups must be grass fed organically and stress is our biggest problem that effects our health the most it's so important to push consistently for a good mind set we can do anything from there it does start with our minds we can create diseases from the way we think and worry here's to all of us to aging healthy Serena I love your tennis skort I wear them all the time in summer and thanks for the standing ab exercises but lord have mercy I never had a stomach until 60 and I am finding out it's the hardest to get rid of I was so ready to go get a tummy tuck lol😂 but I am going to hang in there and keep on keeping on to challenge myself to lose my tummy I am not a big girl my weight was always 130 and wow I love the skort dress love love the black one it's more fitted these are what i perfer wearing in summer,,Great video 👍👏
Same here, I never had a tummy then 60's hit and yeah it's there. The Pandemic didn't help!
I really love that you shared your transition from the more intense classes, and how you decided that you wanted to be more kind to your body. Sometimes I think we are so intent on doing what we've 'always done', that we don't listen to the small changes that respect our evolving body and allow it to still do amazing things..just a bit differently than in our competitive, hard-driving youth. I too, came to the realization that punishing vs challenging my body wasn't in my best interest. Fit comes in different forms in life. Thank you.
I love this Video. ❤️
When I turned 50 . I stopped doing anything I didn't like anymore for fitness. Now I just
Walk and do yoga every day.
I love all your exercise tips... 👍
That's really key. Don't do something just because you think you should or it's the "in" thing. Stick with what you know & like.
I am having great success with intermittent fasting fasting. It works if I stick to it.
My diet is low carb fruits, low carb vegetables, meat and eggs/protein and lots and lots of water. I usually fast 24 hours and have a meal and fast 24 hours have a meal and repeat. I do 8 miles of some type of exercise a day. I am never hungry. I do get but no more than 8 hours a sleep and I take a 30 minute nap a day if I can. I feel satisfied and healthy! I am at a weight I like and I don't gain or lose weight, just maintaining it. This lifestyle doesn't work for everyone, each individuals has to find a healthy lifestyle that works for them.
I’m 55. I run, cycle and lift weights. Vegan too! ❤❤
I love your natural makeup look
I have been keto for almost 6 years. It's so easy and doable. I prioritize health over size. Even though I'm happy with my size.
I have to try that!!! Will I miss rice and pasta???
@@carolyntemplin488 yes! And bread. 🥖
Some people can do it. I found it unsustainable for extended periods of time. But yes it's effective to drop weight or just to jump start a weight loss plan.
@@StylewithSerena LOL!!! I LOVE bread! But I have given it up (almost) ,, I only have it rarely now, but pasta...MMMMM
Did it help you lose weight?
Oh my gosh!! I love the lipstick you're wearing!! I might go get that one...so natural looking!!
Really good exercises are done in a pool, no stress on your joints, and it's great for us, seniors, who have balance issues. Lots of communities offer public pools and some even offer water aerobics classes. I put in an above ground pool, they are so affordable from Amazon. 😅
I lost 150 pounds on intermittent fasting in 2 years
SeniorShape Fitness is a great channel for ladies fitness. I love her low impact workouts. I also use a rebounder for lymphatic health and a great cardio program.
Yet another great and thorough video! I follow Debra Atkinson from Flipping 50. She is a menopause exercise expert. She's been in fitness for 40 years. She truly is great and her podcasts are amazing! Thank you, Serena for all you do! XO
Thanks for sharing!!
Serena, I have that eyeshadow pallette in The Mauves.. LOve it! such a great value ... Anyway, I am 61 and walk/run 5-6 days per week for 45-60 minutes no matter the weather unless pouring rain .. I have to start incorporating some strength training ...
I am 69 and started doing intermittent fasting and mostly 3 years ago. I love it!!! I am down from 180 pounds to a size 8 and some size 6. I eat very boring too. Mostly hamburger, eggs, fish, butter and bacon.
Do you do low carb in addition to fasting?
I do very low carb in addition to IF. The first thing I did was cut out seed oils and sugar. After a few weeks it was so easy. I have had such good success taking it off and keeping it off, my church had me teach classes. A crazy tip if you think you’re hungry, put a little sea salt on your tongue and follow with water!
I bought that same book initially, but I am more of a visual learner. Dr Mindy Pelz and Dr Ken Berry are two of my favorite TH-camrs.
I know now I will never struggle with my weight again eating real simple food. Mostly eggs, beef, fish, chicken, real butter and bacon.
Love the tips on arm toning! I needed that! I will get those arm weights. Love your videos 💖
@@carolash4890 thank you for these tips!
@@StylewithSerena you have certainly given me so many!!! God bless your sister in Christ
Hi Serena, I used to love step aerobics! I have always been into some kind of fitness for many years! I enjoyed this video!
Love the video, thank you so much for sharing all of this, I really enjoyed it! I’m 56 so I love hearing from other women, my age ❤
Thank you so much Serena! This was very helpful. Love and blessings ♥️🙏
Serena, i love this video. very informative. i also do intermittent fasting and do my best to stay away from fast foods. to keep in shape at 70 years old, i do cardio and weight lifting dvd. this seems to work for me. i also work part time and have to be strong because of all the goodies they bring to work! just love the work out clothing too.
Great video Serena with a good mix of information, opinions and encouragement without seeming to give advice. I like your candor and while I don’t always like your fashion choices I do like the way you present them and the fact that they are price and size inclusive.
Thank you Serena for another great video! You are so helpful, practical and supportive. Appreciate all you do!
I enjoy intermittent fasting too. So nice not restricting what you’re eating. I had the stomach flu this last week and I turned that into a positive- 36 hours fasting! Lol. I’m not weighing myself but instead going on how I feel and how my clothes fit. I read the book Fast Like A Girl. Now I’ll look into the book you recommended. More info is always a good thing.
Great info in this video. Thanks, Serena.
Love all this information, gives me hope ❤️
Just what I’ve been needing! Thank you, Serena💖
FINALLY have my own account. So grateful son helped me! THANK YOU SO MUCH for all your style and tips!! 💕
This was absolutely tremendous 🙌👍👏 So much helpful information 🤯😄 I have that book and it's truly an excellent resource!!! Thank You So Much‼️ As always, you're the best Serena 🥰
Serena, thank you so much for the Victoria Secret sports bra recommendation. I've been trying to find a good bra for two years with no luck. The VS bra is excellent. I wear a D size and it actually minimizes me down a size. You can actually run in it without bouncing, which is painful. It tucks everything in and pulls your breasts to your chest wall. I got two of them and use them for my every day bra. My son made a comment that my gym workouts must be working because I looked 10lbs thinner. I told him (to his embarrassment) that it was my new bra! It also washed very well. It's machine washable, hang to dry.
Yes it's wonderful!!!
Such great advice! Thanks, Serena.
Lots of good info. Thanks so much. Am just starting trying the intermittent fasting.
Really great video Serena! I’ve done IF and it’s been easy to do long term. I needed this boost to get back going again. Thank you ❤
I loved this video! You are so inspirational.❤ I live to workout but sometimes I need a push! Thank you , Serena for all you do.😊
Excellent video. Really encouraging.
I love Faster Way to Fat Loss! Joined almost a year ago.
Serena, I also have been working out for a good part of my life. I still have my steps for step aerobics!! I enjoy walking and weight lifting workouts. Cheryl Coulombe is great on TH-cam for anyone wanting to strengthen and build a little muscle. Anyway, couldn’t get over how adorable you looked with no makeup while you were demonstrating the exercise moves! Thanks for sharing those cute outfits as well.
Aw, you're too kind! I'm gonna get my own step for home too! Simply stepping up and down is great exercise plus it can help with stretching, a bench for doing push ups, tricep dips, bench presses, etc!
Thank you for mentioning intermittent fasting! My hubs and I have been in the IF lifestyle for going on 2 years and we have both trimmed way down. My hubs is also diabetic and has kept his levels down with this lifestyle and moderate exercise. We love this way of living!
This video was so good, I watched it twice!😊
Thank You for your wealth of information Serena
Much Appreciated 👋
Hi. I enjoyed your video and learning your workout routine. My lifestyle is one of regular exercise. I go to the health club 5x a week where I walk on a treadmill, then do some weights and machines. I am so glad I started doing arm exercises for toning many decades ago. I, too, had done step aerobics for many years back in the day and loved it. But, now it is the treadmill or in the nicer weather, I walk outside, or bike ride. I go dancing on the weekends. I eat a balanced diet and stay away from fast food and limit sweets.
Serena, This was a very good vlog full of good and healthy information. I remember doing aerobics in the early to mid 80’s. Thinking back, my outfits were just like that as in video…😂. I agree with you about eating more healthy. I read a sign at a restaurant that said - You Are What You Eat. That statement definitely struck a cord with me. I just saw an IG post about the FUPA. They showed two of your exercises that target that area. Thanks for sharing your examples of exercises for the tummy/waistline.
💫💫💫💫💫🌼
Very good video and tips! ❤
Hey lady! Honestly, this is my favorite video you’ve ever done. You explained everything so well and demonstrated things perfectly. Great job! ❤
Thank you!!!
Hi Serena, I’m not Bruce I’m Barb!! I love watching this great video! This summer I will be 74 and still watch my health ie diet and exercise daily and keeping active. What I do want to begin is Intermittent fasting!! I also loved your YT live! Is there any possibility of doing makeup tips for women older than 50? If so I would be interested. Much love to you and your continued success! ❤️Barb D
I LOVE working out with @fabulous50s! Schellea offers fantastic 10-15 minute workouts that are so easy to accommodate any fitness level!
Thank you for sharing your strategies!!
Thamk you so much for this post. for both the exercises and the clothing. Being fit is very stylish.
Really enjoyed watching this video; so much information was provided.
So glad!
This was an excellent video Serena! I enjoyed hearing about your workout program, you are in excellent shape. I love the Athleta dress, it's very flattering on you.
Thanks Cathy!
I only wear New Balance Fresh Foam. I have lost count how many pair I have had. They are so comfortable! My fresh foam sneakers also last longer than most other brands of sneaked I have owned over the years.
Thank you for your exercise tips. When I was younger I loved Body pump classes. I am now 66 and really need to get back into exercise. You certainly do have pretty legs .
Thanks for sharing o do all these things plus some ! I love the outfits n will definitely be looking into getting some plus the sports bras ! Shoes are cute ! Love new balance! I haven’t tried Hoka yet !
You'll love the VS bra.
Thank you. You are the coolest person! 🙂👍👍
Great video. I also have IBS and found intermittent fasting to be very helpful. Did 16 hour fasts daily for about 4 months last year. Lost 10 lbs. I've kept it off but now only intermittent fast (18 hours) 1-2 days per week. LOL at the lone pocket on your workout shorts. I have from some Old Navy that I love and also from Calia at DSG. Love them all but they all have ONE pocket. Who thought of that? I need 2 pockets, not one.
OMG you could be my twin. I also taught aerobics and step aerobics through my 20’s! 😊
I’ll be 64 in a few weeks. Yes, fasting works. I was killing myself doing aerobics and not losing any weight. I added fasting and weights and my clothes are fitting loose. I feel better and lighter!
That's awesome!
Great video on fitness!! Love your tips and tricks on everything. I am so fortunate to have a have a great fitness class and do better in a group. Only because I wouldn't do weights at home, tried and never stayed with it. They are texting me if I don't show up and we have so much fun! I love New Balance too and if your foot doctor recommends a power step pad like mine did , you can take the pad completely out of the shoe and insert the recommended pad in that shoe or any tennis shoe you have. Right now I am in Vionic tennis shoes which has a removeable pad that you could move to another pair. Posture is so important keeping us aligned and I know you agree. Hope you are having fun at the beach!!!
Yes, I go to Fleet Feet and they fit me with the insert my feet need. They have a computer program that maps your feet & how you walk and then matches that to the best shoe options for you.
Thank you all the outfits so cute lot 😂of good info.
Thank you as always, Serena. I appreciate all the information you shared. What is your workout frequency for the walking and the strength exercises?
I try to do it 5x per week
Thank you! I have made a list of the toning exercises and will add these to my current routine of walking and using my rebounder. Have you a rebounder? It is an awesome addition!
No, I haven't!
Hi, Serena. Does the Health drink break your fast? Their site recommends to drink it in the morning for greatest absorption (on empty stomach). But If I have to wait until noon or 1pm to drink it, I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to sleep that night. I’ve really been enjoying your content. Thank you for mixing it up and keeping it real.
Yes it would break your fast. Anything besides water, black coffee or unsweetened tea breaks your fast. But you don't have to wait until 12 or 1. Start at 10 and be done eating at 4, 5, or 6 depending on how long you want to fast. Sometimes I go ahead & eat before my husband & son to have dinner before my window closes.
I do Zumba 3 times a week and love it. At the local Y. It's a workout for sure.
I love Zumba too!
Hokas are amazing for plantar fasciitis- supportive and comfortable!
Serena, check out the Lou & Gray skort form Loft... the utility skort... I love it! I got the navy, have worn it 3x this week..LOL..and I am getting one for a friends birthday, she is active and loves skirts... XOXO
I will! Thanks for the tip!
I have high cholesterol so I don’t eat beef or bacon. I did IF but didn’t lose any weight. I started going to a nutritionist and she didn’t want me to do IF saying I wasn’t eating enough and to eat more protein. So I quit the IF and started eating yogurt, cottage cheese, salmon. Well it gassed me up and bloated me so badly. So I went back to IF and I feel so much better. I’ve always gone to the gym and do my cardio and weights. I’m 67 and menopause put the weight on me.
Nice video, love the white skort and your mauve velvet round ottoman.
The ottoman is linked in the description of you're interested! Comes in other colors too.
You are so cute! So professional and helpful!
I loved that sports bra, it’s the kind I need! Unfortunately, it’s out of stock in all sizes and colors. Great video❤️
Oh no! I'll see if I can find similar
I found the bra at the VS site and Amazon. They had plenty of stock.
❤❤❤
All the outfits look really cute on you!
I love intermittent fasting. It really works for me and I don't feel deprived. I don't always do it but try to most times and I mostly only eat two meals a day. In my life I have never really needed to lose more than 20 lbs but I have had to lose those 20 lbs several times in my life (quitting smoking, post baby, times of job stress). I tried pretty much every diet out there. The worst one for me was keto! I hated every minute of it. It is so restrictive. I love my fruit and missed it so much when I did keto. I also love my carbs. It's strange but I actually lose weight when I eat carbs as I feel satisfied and eat less. Anyway, I have found intermittent fasting to be the best method of weight control for me. I have worked out pretty much my whole adult life and love working out. No more 1 or 1.5 hr workouts for me anymore though. 10-20 minute workouts at home are all I do now in addition to my daily walks. I walk 45 minutes every single day regardless of the weather. Yes, I have done my walks in -35 degree celsius weather here in Canada. I've also walked in the rain with my umbrella. No excuses for me!
That's great!!!! You sound a lot like me (aside from walking in those weather extremes!). I've never needed to lose more than 20 lbs in my life but I've had to do it multiple times. The hardest of course being after having my son at age 43. Right before I had him, I weighed the most of my life...184 lbs! On my 5'2" frame! Of course a lot of that was baby & fluid and I was terribly swollen. But by the time all the "easy" weight came off, I was still 20 lbs heavier than I was before I got pregnant. And it's been the hardest 20 lbs of my life!
I really enjoyed this video and your fasting and exercise tips! I’ve tried IF but didn’t stick with it long enough to get results. What was a good fasting window for you? Did you start with a large window and shrink it down?
I started with 16:8 (fast:eat) and shrank it down to 18:6. But the easiest for me to do is a 17:7. So I settled in on that one.
@@StylewithSerena Great! Thanks for your quick response! Maybe I will give it another try.
I’m a Brooks shoe gal. New Balance and Hoka were not comfortable on my feet.
Ive worn Brooks too. It also depends on the model of the shoe & what feels best. That's why I go to Fleet Feet and get my feet & walking pattern mapped. They haven't steered me wrong yet!
Great video! What is the length of you fast-how many hours a day? And what times of day/night?
Time of day doesn't matter. I encourage you to get the book to see what is best for you. Most people start with a 16:8 fast but move up from there. You have to do what works for you.
How about a closet tour?
I’ve seen women wear a sports bra with their active wear dresses with built in bras. It gives them the extra support!!
Yes I've done that too
The difficulty I find is having the time to do the exercises. When are you able to fit it in? Thanks indiana
It really doesn't take that much time. It's just making a point of prioritizing it. It's easy to scroll on your phone or watch TV for an hour. And an hour is all it takes to make a big difference. You can also split it up. 30 minutes of walking and 30 minutes of ab & arms
I tried the intermittent fasting and did an 18 hour fast. I was trying to lose the 5 lbs I gained over the holidays. I just couldn't lose any weight. I did it with two plain spinach, onion and feta cheese salads a day. Nothing else. I stopped after 6 weeks because it's not enough to eat. Maybe my set point got too low. I did feel real good. My blood sugars kept crashing. Maybe because I'm 70. I increased my low carb high protein diet a little and stopped fasting and list the 5 lbs. Go figure!
I also go to the gym every other day to do some cardio and the weight machines. I'm trying to build muscle. It's so important at my age. I really enjoy the weight machines.
You were NOT eating enough!!! And had practically NO protein!!!
Read the book Serena recommends. It spells the IF lifestyle in easy to understand terms. I’ve lived h this way for close to two years. I’ve lost 40 lbs and more importantly feel great! You don’t need to stick to any crazy eating plan. Eat what you want in moderation! I too only eat twice a day within my eating window. I hope you give IF another chance. ❤
@@KILO-uv2wi yes!!! It's so sustainable and you can move your eating window around depending on your schedule, events etc. I love not being restricted by what I can eat or drink. And yes, you do feel so much better bc your digestive tract has a chance to REST! When I follow it properly, it also helps with my IBS.
Hi Serena…I loved all the info. You look young and fit. I love all your cute clothes you showed. I can see why your neighbor has that cute dress in all the colors . Two years ago I lost fifteen pounds by drinking lots of water and eating what I want…not how much I want. I tell people this…I quit demonizing foods as a good food or a bad food. Recently, I had my thyroid blood tests and found out my thyroid t4 was at an awfully low level , but I lost seven more pounds this year. I get my thyroid tested soon, since my thyroid meds changed . I used to crave something sweet or fattening and I would eat ten things I did not want and then I also would eat what I was craving. I will say I cook, and we hardly ever eat fast foods. I have been active pretty much since we moved to five acres almost thirty years ago. There is always something to do, and I have always walked and push mowed , gardened etc. When I heard you on this video…I thought I kind of do a mini intermittent lifestyle. I eat a very small breakfast, hardly ever eat lunch, and eat a good dinner…whatever we want and if I want something sweet I will eat it or a few dates from Aldis they are like a rich dessert .You have done a great job of keeping your arms and shoulders looking very toned. You do have nice toned legs too. Thanks Serena. ❤❤❤❤
Aw thanks Rita! I'm with you..I'm
Done demonizing food. My mom
Was thin all her life and she managed it by how much she ate, not what she ate. Of course, she did cook most every day, so there was not that much eating out because we lived in a rural area. Even so, we ate plenty of red meat, pork, mashed potatoes & gravy! Plus rolls or biscuits with just about every dinner. It's really about portion control and
Not eating too much processed and/or deep fried foods. Fried foods tend to set off my IBS so I try to avoid them but sometimes I NEED my McDonalds French fries! I crave carbs & savory food much more than sweets so desserts/sugar doesn't tempt me that much. My husband is the opposite. He's a sugar Addict! As a result, he has high A1C but is now on meds for it & he's lost 30 lbs! So that's another tip. Visit your Df regularly for a complete blood panel!
@@StylewithSerena I used to preach to my husband about his sweets addiction. I used to preach to him about seeing an eye doctor…had not gone for thirty some years. His blood work is beyond perfect the doctor said. He finally went to the eye doctor. His eye sight other than wearing readers is perfect. He has no other eye problems. Serena, I quit preaching.🤣🤣🤣I guess my only real problem that shows up in my blood work is hypothyroidism..so I will always take thyroid meds. I did something stupid. My insurance did not want to pay for my natural thyroid. I take Armour which is desiccated pig thyroid. The pharmacist recommended something else my insurance paid for and I think it messed up my thyroid panel. So, I now take my Armour and the last two times the price has not been bad. Have a great rest of the week. ❤️
This is really helpful! How many hours do you fast?
I tend to fall on a 17/7 schedule. Sometimes I extend it to 18 or more.
@StylewithSerena thanks!
I do 16:8 most days with keto … have u found just fasting works ? How long is your eating window ??
I only fast, no other diet restrictions. Yes, I lose weight if I do it properly. I usually do a 17:7 fast.

Did you hear about the recent very sad death of Dr Michael Mosley? He was a key author writing about intermittent fasting especially 5:2. I'm 56 and still running several times a week. I'm not fasting at the moment but I make good choices and limit the high fat, high sugar foods.
No
Hello, you look great. I think you’re losing weight. You look amazing. Keep up the good work.
I don't really like fasting.. I get really dizzy..
I do like 12 hours, though..
You adjust to it. But some people can't if you have low blood sugar.
My arms are fat. What is the best exercise for that. I hug ave trouble where shirts with sleeves because they are to tight around the upper arm.
You can't spot-treat fat. You might have to lose some weight and then time your arms. I dont know your particular circumstances.
SERENA THE NEW BALANCE YOU HAVE are they the Fesh foams1080v13s if they are the ones you own in the video they are different then the ones below in the box i did not know if you knew they are different the ones below are the fresh foam more v4 can you tell me if they feel the same?

@@StylewithSerena okay, thank you. Thanks for all the excercises you do to help keep you feeling and looking great!
How long do you do your fast?
You go by what the book says. Start out with 16:8 and go from there. I settled in on a 17:7 schedule but sometimes stretch it out to 18:6 or even longer. Just depends.
I love the look of the athletic dresses, but I just can’t deal with pulling off the whole thing to go potty. I’m not a jumpsuit gal for the same reason. 😉
I get it!
Serena do you have good ideas on summer pants … I don’t like showing my legs ,do to spider veins.

@@StylewithSerena The problem here in North Carolina is finding cute and stylish clothes. So always searching to find out where to go . Love your videos and you do a wonderful job showing us woman tips and tricks. Your appreciated, thanks you.
@@blee4974 I shop 95% or more online. The selection in brick & mortar stores is awful these days. So check out my LTK shop. There are links to every item in all my outfits!
Great explanation with the exercise, but you did not show anything you ate. You just addressed intermittent fasting. It would be more helpful to at least show a few things you eat regularly, to give us an idea. The skorts are cute and so are the rest of the workout outfits.
I said I eat everything within reason. I don't deprive myself. If I want a burger or pizza, I eat it! As long as it's done within my eating window. I'm not on a "diet" of specific foods or restricted foods. I eat what I want. I could show my Starbucks latte addiction, or some McDonalds 🍟 but I don't think that would be very helpful!
By the way I am 81 😂
I LOVE working out with @fabulous50s! Schellea offers fantastic 10-15 minute workouts that are so easy to accommodate any fitness level!
Thank you for sharing your strategies!!
I lost 150 pounds on intermittent fasting in 2 years
