    Here's a ChatGPT summary:
    - Autophagy is a self-degradative process targeting damaged or aged cell constituents for degradation.
    - Exercise is a powerful enhancer of autophagy, influencing muscle health and longevity.
    - Customizing fasting protocols depends on exercise levels; more exercise may reduce the need for prolonged fasting.
    - Dysfunctional autophagy can lead to acute and chronic diseases like obesity, type 2 diabetes, and neurodegenerative diseases.
    - Both acute and chronic exercises enhance autophagy, with chronic exercise providing long-term benefits.
    - Overtraining can disrupt autophagy and cause cellular damage, highlighting the need for balanced exercise.
    - Skeletal muscle mass maintenance is linked to moderate autophagy, which is crucial for muscle function.
    - Exercise-induced autophagy improves mitochondrial function and muscle performance.
    - Cardiomyocytes (heart muscle cells) benefit significantly from autophagy, which helps maintain cardiac function and prevent heart disease.
    - Liver health is also improved by autophagy, which can be monitored through liver function tests.
    - Fasted exercise can significantly increase autophagy, promoting the breakdown of glycogen and damaged proteins.
    - Chronic exercise raises baseline autophagy levels, supporting long-term cellular health.
    - Autophagy plays a role in preventing and managing type 2 diabetes by improving mitochondrial function and insulin sensitivity.
    - Lipophagy, a subtype of autophagy, is crucial for fat loss and preventing obesity-related complications.
    - Combining exercise with calorie restriction is an effective strategy for weight loss and improving metabolic health.
    - Main message: Exercise is a powerful tool for enhancing autophagy, which is crucial for maintaining muscle, heart, liver, and overall cellular health, and should be combined with fasting and calorie restriction for optimal benefits.

I lost a lot of muscle by fasting for too long with a very active lifestyle. I don't workout, but I am a 50 year old contractor who walks tens of thousands of steps on an off day. I just move a lot. So I found that eating just a very small amount of hamburg, steak, chicken or clean protein like that, in the morning, both breaks my fast and also keeps my protein in good shape. I no longer 'fast' like I did but I use many of the principles that I used to use, fasting was just a part of the puzzle.
I should add. I am 6 feet tall, weighed roughly 172-174 for a couple of years, then started intermittent fasting, went to 168 for a year, that's cool. Then all of the sudden I went to 164 and people were asking what was going on. I added a handful of nuts in the morning to break the fast, but then moved on to 2-3 ounces of protein so that I get better amino acids. Now I am 178, have good muscle and am feeling good.

If you don't workout....ie use your muscles, then you'll lose it, and even quicker while fasting. You say that you do lots of steps, but that's not enough. Walking doesn't put enough stress on your legs to induce muscle growth, and walking doesn't work all the muscles in your upper body.

Some kind of polarity governs all things in this universe. Deprivation. Pain. Deployed in smart ways, they create and build. What is anything without its opposite? Nothing at all. Calorie restriction is good for weight loss considering insulin levels are low. However, it should only be done very short term to prevent your metabolic rate from decreasing. 36-48 hour water only fasting done once per week will produce better results and will increase your metabolic rate without having to worry about loose skin as the fat comes off. Plus you get the benefit of boosting HGH. This is a much better option for people who are insulin resistant and are not metabolically flexible - meaning they are unable to go in and out of ketosis every 12 hours or so. Burning glycogen for fuel during the day and burning ketones from lipids at night while asleep.

It's rare I get healthy info that works well with my current workout routine.
I've already been scheduling cardio days as a sort of active rest day for weight training. One was a VO2 max training day and the other was just endurance cardio, but now I can make it a fasted cardio day.

Once per month, five day water fast would make you bulletproof.
You could eat, drink anything you want.
Rhonda Patrick mentions this in a interview with Longo.

I got my blood work this week, the first time in 18 years. I am a little acidosis and being Carnivore I introduced a few high ph foods and baking soda into my diet. My triglycerides and LDL were high so I am going into a fast for autophagy next week. I will try for five days. I also introduced prebiotics not probiotics in my diet. I normally fast everyday for 18 hours. I will say this is my one year Carnivore maintenance cycle. I exercise like a maniac.

I take my supplements first thing in the morning and then have a cup of black coffee. Do my supplements break my fast? More specifically, do my beef organ and cod liver supplements technically break my fast? I don't eat my first meal for several hours after waking.

I take supplements in fasting window and still lose weight. Unless I forgot, I take them at the very end of my eating window, advice per Dr. Wendy Pelez in “Fast Like a Girl,” for best fortification from hair loss. If I forgot, I take them while fasting, still lose weight, and I don’t worry about it.

I didn't know any of this. However, over the last 3 weeks I've been having my last meal by 8pm, and the start kettlebell workouts between 10am - 1pm (~30mins actual workout time) then eat at 4pm. I target different areas of my body each day. How do I know if I am exercising too much?

When I do a fast from 7 pm to 8 am, it is a 12 hour fast. However, at bedtime I take a sleeping aid supplement which contains glycine, taurine, GABA, theanine, choline, calcium Pantothenate, and 5 mg of glucose. Does the 5 mg of glucose take me out of a fasted state??!!

2:11 the organ systems that were designed lol because if we didn't have these functions, and we had to wait thousands of years for each organ to somehow form itself, the species would have never continued. Just like that random fish that washed up on shore that somehow could breathe and feed itself, on land, to give itself enough energy to reproduce with itself even though it didn't have that function. It would have died and evolution would have never happened if that were the case.
It's funny that Google will say that your shoulder muscles evolved from the oblique muscles but how would you have been able to feed yourself if you couldn't lift your arm (ou need food for energy to reproduce)? How would you have been able to feed yourself with proper foods if you didn't have working memory to begin with to remember what foods to eat and what foods not to eat, as well as to remember that eating is going to get rid of that hunger feeling you somehow didn't know you had? When you take the reality-test, it's so easy to disprove Evolution over and over again. How would our bodies have even been able to form mitochondria if we couldn't live without it to begin with?
I know this has nothing to do with the video but I still have to take advantage of opportunities to remind people that every system in our body had to function immediately so that we were able to survive adapt and thrive, otherwise every last species in the world would have died off before it had the chance to reproduce because the reproduction of code itself is a design

Minimising insulin promotes autophagy on the carnivore diet .Fasting isn't necessary .Bodybuilders eat Processed carbs that mess with their blood sugars and insulin , so autophagy deficit is the least of their problems, (compared to insulin resistance wrecking arteries).
