    This is amazing. I never would've believed that the two ports would really act according to tuning with just one sub

    Whilst a little long winded, this explains whats going on visually really well.

    Man I never got that into boxes. In the 80s we made the boxes big as possible. And sealed. I burned my share of The Punch subs usually from over excursion. Then I got an Orion DVC in a ported box and those slammed but not for metal. I like that kick drum bass. After 30 years I just put 2 alpine type x 12s in sealed box and gave it hell. Sounds better than I ever had in my younger days. Keep bassin. Thanks for explaining the 6th order that is legit

    this is a really nice way to actually show what is happening within a 6th order! everyone usually just shows the impressive box but not how its actually working!

    Hey man, i just wanted to thank you for the series on bandpass boxes that you did. I have always been curious about them and your videos motivated me to make one. I just finished it up today and it sounds amazing. At just 75 watts it will shake the tin on the outside of the shop. I kinda went to the extremes on the dimensions but it works really well. It's a Skar IX-8, 4 cuft (yes four) tuned to 35hz, and 1 cuft tuned to 80hz. Thanks again man! Keep the awesome videos coming!

    Awesome breakdown of the 6th order vs 4th order. If you want to make those pieces of toilet paper mover, you should run a bass sweep. That should show the ultimate drop!

  • @Basshead40

    Nice vid man. I'm a 6th order man myself and just got done completing one for a 12 type r. I've been building 6th order enclosures for over 15 years and I've built numerous sealed and 4th orders as well. People you can NOT beat a 6th order. If you love the ground pounding lows but still wanna catch other frequencies.. 6th order all the way.. People get in my ride and assume I have a pair of 15's. I can make 1 modest ten sound like a high end 15. 6th order pounds and pounds and pounds no doubt.

    • @Basshead40
      @Basshead40 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Another thing that I recently discovered man, aero ports I'm an absolute believer. I was a vent man myself and still vent my cone side but the magnet side aero port and I swear to me better response and better delivery. Mad props tho I'm by no means discrediting your enclosure. Just something I figured I'd say to a fellow 6th order man in case you wanted to experiment in the future. Laters man!

    • @BudgetBassHead
      @BudgetBassHead  6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Thanks for the tip. I've been curious about aero ports for a while and always cheaped out for the vent. But do to your advice, my next build just may include an aero port. Thanks.

    • @marcd.7664
      @marcd.7664 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      BudgetBassHead yes, go for aero ports and watch out not going too big in diameter. Large ports give you great output, but many nasty resonances above your target bandwitch.

    Thank you for another straightforward demonstration of the 6th Order Enclosures (in fact, any of the Orders). Reminds me of the Bose Wave Guide commercial with the candle--got the point across to the viewer.
    Apparently, I've been missing more than I wish to admit using these pre-fab/generic enclosure for years--"Downtown" was again proof. Keep these formats going. (Now to find a local custom designer/builder 👀🤣)

    When tuning a sixth order or quasi (parallel or series) 6th order I start the port tuning at 25hz and 50hz a full octave is usually the best for music. You will usually have to adjust for dips and spikes. To find the octave from your low frequency tuning just double the low tuned frequency. So 22hz to 44hz is an octave. Your going to end up with two peaks around each tuning frequency but some of the roll off can be regained through a boost in the band that suffered.

    6th Order parallel bandpass is my goto. Ports can be made to length of frequencies you want 18-24Hz 1 port and 28-33Hz 2nd port. 1 to 1 without ports included for Deaf Bonce Sport V2. Memphis HPO gets a 1 to 2 and the 2 side is 3cu' and port is 75" and 34" on 1.5cu' side.

      Are you doing a blow through? I have a chevy silverado I just bought and they did a blow through and the system doesn't sound good or loud at all. I just bought 2 skar audio 15s and 2 2000 thousand watt rms amps for each sub and I want to a 4th order box in the bed of the truck. Will audio shops build stuff like this. I purchased box plans from a website for my set up. Do you think I can take them to a shop to have them build it for me?

    • @mjl6425
      @mjl6425 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      sean watts If you have the confidence to build the box yourself do it. But if you don’t and you have some money to spend have a well-known shop that produces SPL vehicles design and make the box/system for you.

    • @mjl6425
      @mjl6425 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      sean watts And yes I am doing a blow through, through my center armrest pass-through. It opens up so you can pass the port from the trunk to the interior.

    • @mjl6425
      @mjl6425 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    That are interesting basics, but, i think you know it, there is way more going on in 4th or 6th order bandpass boxes then you talk about.
    In a 4th order the closed section gives you more or less spring force to the chassis and a specific resonance frequency. For optimal output, you always have to tune the reflex side of the box to that specific frequency.
    For a 6th order bandpass you always have to measure the impedance. Everything else is guessing and for away from "optimum". Then there is the damping material and the port resonances at higher frequencys.
    My statement for 6th order is: don't do it unless you have advanced knowledge in electronic networks.

    • @BudgetBassHead

      Of course this video could've been more in-depth, but my purpose was to speak to guys on a budget and DIY. for us, keeping it simple is the best way to go. If you overstate things, it becomes complicated and boring. I could've talked more about differences between efficiency, linearity and frequency response bandwidth, but unless enough people mention it.... Just keep it simple and keep bassing!

    What software are you using for builds? I’ve been looking for something for months, unsure what to use.

    Nice video bro. What will happen if I make both Chambers the Same size?

      In order to get an equal db response at both ports, the chamber are typically different sizes; with the low end being the larger. If the chambers were the same size, the higher frequencies will be quite noticeably LOUDER than the lower end frequencies. Making your music seem unbalanced and peaky on the high side.
