Looks better than ever. And I'm mad they are trying to tear down half the ren cen. Didn't we learn anything by tearing buildings down?

The half demolition plan looks unbelievably stupid. Tear the whole thing down or just keep it.

10:06 West Riverfront. I remember when those tower residences were built a few decades ago (at least the first ones) and thinking how expensive they were. But I was just a struggling college student then.

13:50 Millender Center. Completed in 1985. It has good shopping which is easily accessible throughout its user-friendly layout. There is a cross bridge from the RenCen. When I needed to purchase something and worked in the RenCen, it was easier to go to Millender Center. They have a good underground garage too. If I wanted to live in Downtown Detroit, I always thought Millender Center apartments would be the best. However, there is so much more becoming available in new buildings and new up-and-coming neighborhoods, I may think differently now.

4:25 That curved building on the left is a new building named after the original hotel which stood there, Statler Hotel opened in 1915. Detroit's most expensive hotel to build and a most luxurious hotel at the time. It also was the largest hotel in the Midwest when it opened on Feb. 6, 1915.

14:47 Renaissance Center station. The road below is Jefferson which runs almost 64 miles southern to northern. According to wiki It travels alongside Lake Erie, the Detroit River, and Lake St. Clair. West Jefferson Avenue is primarily commercial, while East Jefferson Avenue contains a historic residential district and a Nouveau riche community.

I read the comments about people complaining that no one is on the people mover, but that was just when this was being filmed. When it's warmer out, there are tons of people that use it, so it's not a waste. I think the purpose of the people mover was to move people within Downtown, I don't think their intention was to make it a subway. Detroit is not as crowded as, say, New York or Chicago. It really is a wonderful city to just look at even riding the people mover.

12:21 The Guardian Building is the red brick building. If you could choose one of the most beautiful interiors out of the multitude of Detroit’s beauties from its heydays of the early 1900’s, the Guardian Building would undeniably be one of your favorites. Its former name was Union Trust, and they were mostly responsible for the beginning of the Great Depression. They set the steps in motion. This is the Financial District stop.

Just wait....in just a few years there's going to be a huge comeback in downtown Detroit, with busy cruse ship traffic growing more and more popular every year, which will bring in many more shops and foot traffic to downtown, much greater than ever before!....JUST WAIT AND SEE! YOU'LL BE AMAZED!! Its already the most beautiful waterfront in this country, many park improvements going on right now, and when the new people mover expands to all 3 casinos, the professional centers, further out into the surrounding areas, you'll see Detroit comeback greater than anyone could ever imagine!
