When you were trotting where the telephone pole was (I think) I realized that was where ThisEsme did her bike vs horse race. I am pretty sure.. well. It looks similar
Fun fact about when Rosie was going down the hill tryna trot and go in like zig zags it’s then tryna help themselves balance as young horses aren’t used to walking down hill it’s what I’ve noticed with my youngster x
My horses live on a property with longhorn cattle, so my gelding is pretty good with them, but the first time he saw a cow without horns he got a little nervous and was trying to figure out what they were, lol. My mare’s last spook was at an African longhorn who she had lived next to for probably 2 years at that point. Horses are so funny.
I've ridden on the South Downs with thoroughbreds. One time I was followed by a herd of cows with calves (who can be dangerous) but we easily outran them. Another time we walked through a herd of young bullocks lying by a gate. Bullocks are harmless, and these jumped up inquisitively, and one even started licking my horse's flanks. He was amazing, didn't even flinch, probably because I acted so confidently.
As someone who has been around cows with horses there's two times you need to worry about cows; cows who have babies and bulls protecting his females. These were either females without babies or young bulls in together, none of them were going to cause a problem they were just relaxing and were curious, whilst it isn't a bad idea to keep a distance I think actively letting the horses interact with you on the ground would have been better than riding at them and shouting/flapping your arms about. Bit of an over-reaction. When I still rode my mare used to like saying hellow to cows over the fence and the whole herd would come up, a big bunch of curious yet nervous energy so that can be a bit nerve wracking but I had a fence between me and my mare always wanted to check things out, once she did she could move on.
Cows are so curious lol. They seem to instinctively play games of chicken. When my dog was asleep the cows would sneak up on her to try and boop my dog with their noses, eventually she'd realise and start to get up (to awkwardly walk away from the cow herd) and they'd all freak out and run away as if saying "IT MOVED GUYS IT MOVED EVERYBODY RUN!" Our neighbours rented our paddocks for their cows (cos we didn't have our own) so I think they could tell the difference between the neighbours cattle dogs (who the cows would always trot away from) and my golden retriever. They knew she wouldn't chase them (after we finally trained her to not do that) or round them up so they'd sloooowly creep up to her over an hour or so lol.

Hi Mollie I've been a fan of yours for quite some time and I have always wondered how would one get into , riding horses like you , I'm interested in doing things like drag hunts , and things of that sort , but as a American that plans to move to the UK after High school how likely is it for me to be able to get into something like that ? I'm also African American would that sort of riding group be open to accepting me ? I know these are a lot of questions sorry , but if you had any clue id love to hear sincerely , a fan 💕
They all seemed laser focused on your dog lol. Likely way smaller than the dog(s) they're used to so weren't sure what the little floof was. The council needed to convene to discuss this UFO sighting.
“ Rosie just walk in a straight line its like your drunk “ Got me laughing my head off😂. Edit: and also Rosie was like at the heavy gate “ i dont understand i dont understandddd “ Also i didnt see the part where you got chased by cow???
@@esaflaka9155 thats not chased then 😂 the cows were curious, and followed them about. Its the cows field not theirs, they was in no way chased. Clickbait these days
Hey I know I'm really late to your video but I hope you see this comment ❣️ I think the cows were trying to chase your dog and not you guys because cows generally see dogs a much greater threat than humans because they want to protect their calf's. Hope this helped 💖
I don't live in Europe, so I don't know the laws, but I was just curious. Do you own the cows? Is that your property? Is it private property? Did you get permission to go through the cow pen and herd them around like that? Is this a horse pleasure riding space or trail, and anyone is allowed to ride their horse through? It may seem like an obvious answer to you, but I'm not very familiar to the laws surrounding horse riding, as I was relatively young when we had to give away our two horses.
There wasn't a sign to say it was private property and it didn't look as if there was a farm by so it isn't trespassing and whether or not they own the cows, they had a right to go through.
I clicked on this video and saw your question. The UK has a network of footpaths and bridleways that go back in history. Footpaths are pedestrians only but bridleways can be used by both pedestrians and riders. Many of these routes go through private property and the owner cannot block access without going through the Courts. I am not a rider but walk a lot and many times have walked through fields of cows and once a field with a bull in it (possibly the farmer’s way of objecting to the rights of walkers). Several times I have found myself walking down a private driveway and once across someone’s front lawn.
Hi, this was a public bridleway and footpath meaning anyone can use it including cycle across it. The land and the animals are not mine however we can ride across them! :)
@@equinemollie Okay, thank you for the answer! I didn't know things like that could cut through livestock pastures. Can't say I would do it, but that is interesting!
@@simoneleaver7374 Hmm, That is very interesting. The first thing I think of though is that there's a high risk of someone walking through and harming/stealing the livestock. You would have to be monitoring the animals 24/7 to prevent that, and many people don't know a lot about animals. Even if they had good intentions, someone may try feeding the cattle something toxic to them, and that person would be long gone before the farmer could tell who did it. It just seems rather dangerous for the safety and well-being of the livestock imo.
if Rosie is pulling her head up and down to much i whould get a martingale to stop her from getting into a habit but dont use a pony martingale because Billy my old Loan pony snapped
