I cherished these Cap cartoons just for the Kooky Quartet Avengers stories. In the days before Essential Collections and other trade paperbacks, they were a treasure.

"Der Kommissar" ended up being "Mr. Roboto" in disguise.

Der Kommissar kommt mit Stapeln frisch gegrillter Hamburger und Frankfurter aus der Kantine, eine Horde Dackel tanzt um ihn herum, während ein mächtiges Walross brüllt und pfeift.

Notice that the language used in these stories would leave most modern kids baffled. Caustic morose ect would baffle kids today

The Avengers appearing in a lot of these made them even better. Thor would have made short work of the commissar.

I couldn't take the Comissar seriously because he sounds like Cookie Monster! XD

I dunno. Maybe that's a globe of Earth 396 or Whatever and the the country of SinCo sounds more like a 90's Dot Com Bubble start up🤷🏼‍♂️🤓😎✌🏻🇺🇲

This is one of my favorite Captain America episode. My favorite is The Sleeper Shall Awake which came out on November 12 1966.

I don't know; the Avengers are on some shaky ground if they decide to become a force in a foreign war. They didn't seem to stop to get the facts. Any malcontents can talk about oppression at the hands of the government, but getting involved on allegations alone seems to be an unwise move.
The Fantastic Four once got involved in a Latverian civil war and were successful in overthrowing Doctor Doom in favor of some Latverian prince. I don't know all the details on that; I just read the issues with the follow-up. Latveria had gone to hell, and the prince ended up being more interested in the perks than actually running the country.

That was the propaganda we were presenting related to VietNam: commies evil. Commissar sounds like commie so he's evil, too. In 1967 opposition to the war was heating up and the powers that be didn't understand that the raging anticommunist sentiment of the 50's was dying.

Hawkeye is way different in the movies than his animated counterparts

Hawkeye in his early days was brash and arrogant.

From what I understand, the movie version of Hawkeye is based mostly on his "Ultimate" version rather than the classic one.

The teamwork and the powers of these Avengers stinks. This is where they really should have a Hulk.

Hulk was too unstable for The Avengers. He rarely appears in their pages.

The Commissar was the inspiration of a character I made up in 1967 called The Iron Comrade. He was the Cybernetic agent for Bolshevik Bob.
