    Thanks very much for this Kris, great job. I did my V70 with your instruction, no real problems. All seems ok, still working on getting the fault message removed.

    Extremely well done. As a backyard mechanic I find these videos (yours in particular) very useful and limit my down time like discovering I need a special tool after I start. I am looking for a video to remove & replace the A/C compressor on a 2002 Volvo. I hope you come up with more videos I plan on keeping my 2002 a couple more years, with 200k miles on the car the engine is VERY strong and worth keeping. Thanks Great job.

      PS... why are you replacing the compressor? is it totally dead or does the A/C come on periodically? If the latter it's probably the compressor clutch. When it gets worn and hot it will disengage. Rumor has it that you can fix it by taking out a shim inside the clutch.

      Kris Kasprzak KK... The A/C comes on then shuts down and may or may not come back on, on its own without shutting the car down. You are right I have found some good videos on how to check the clutch and I intend to do that first...thanks for the added input...

    it is a pleasure to watch a video by someone who knows what they are talking about. But are you guessing the ABS module is bad or are those warning signs on the dashboard 100 % indicative that it definitely is the ABS module if not a 100 % then what % ? Are there no additional things to do to increase certainty that it indeed is the ABS ? I have a 2005 volvo xc 90 v8. it has following warnings on the dashboard. Brake failure, stop safely. ... a triangle with an exclamation mark. ... the word brake lit up in red .... an ABS warning sign. Additionally the brake pedal sinks to the floor when engine runs and gear shifter will not shift out of park. i am thinking of replacing the ABS but I am not sure this is what's wrong. The few of my symptoms may be matching with yours by coincidence, and I may have a different problem. Thanks for any tips.

      100% is a pretty strong demand. A few forums and repair centers claim these warning lights point to a bad ABS. After mine was repaired it was 100% working.
      Since you have asked several times in your question "is this 100% the problem", you may be over constraining yourself from a solution. I recommend you take your car directly to Volvo and let them deal with it.

      Hello Ed, I have an 04 S60 AWD and have the same issues. I still drive it. One day the shifter was stuck in the forward driving gears and I could not get it into reverse or park. I was ready to kick it with my leg but after a while of messing around it finally went into reverse and I was able to park the car. Then it happened to my son where he couldn’t get it out of park. I found out that by pulling the shifter up and out of the gear box and putting it back in, it shifted fine again. This seems to happen once in a while now so I don’t even put the leather boot and the plastic ring back up on the shifter, I just lift up on it a little and it works again. I also found out that there is a brake switch under the dashboard that when you press on the brake peddle, the switch comes out a little which turns on the brake lights and also sends a signal to the transmission to unlock the shifter. I replaced the switch even if it wasn’t broken. One other thing that may or may not fix the error before removing the ABS is the Brake Peddle Position Sensor in the engine compartment against the firewall. It’s a pretty easy repair and there are some videos for it. I replaced mine with an aftermarket part and I think it failed already. The OEM part is very expensive. I still have the brake failure warning and think I might have to remove the ABS and send it out for repair to get rid of the error.

    you don't actually need a Torx T-5. I didn't know they were torx heads and just used a 4.5mm socket (I can't remember the actual size, I just tried which one fit the tightest). Worked like a dream. I only realized they were torx long after having done my repair.

    Great video, Kris. Thank you. I like the mirror suggestion. My buddy says: "if you can't find the hole, put some hair around it."

    I wonder if the repaired module will come back already programmed ⁉️

    • @KrisKasprzak
      @KrisKasprzak  ปีที่แล้ว

      They program them selves. At least that’s what my experience was.

    This could be a bad ABS unit. Warning lights are one symptom, lack of crusie control is another. I had exactly the same issues. It's odd it happens only when you hit bumps, mine was on/off but not dependent on road conditions.
    Apparently the issue in the ABS is a bad resistor that can be easily replaced. Perhaps the bumps have an effect.

    Same issues over here. My dashboard looks like a Christmas tree sometimes. After repairing the ABS these problems didn't occur. A Volvo S60 6-cilinder is a great car but I've had a lot of computer related problems with it.

      6 cilinder? check again is a 5 cilinder.

      Please post a video, i'm sure my subs would love to see how. Do you think that type of repair will void car insurance policies?

      one person has fixed it in this this post www.volvoforums.org.uk/archive/index.php/t-233665.html ... check the image links he has attached with broken solders ..... I need to open mine again and apparently the 5/32 socket is not fitting now in winter here, so should buy E5 and try to open it ..... cruise control may not work too .....

    You must disconnect your battery before remove the module.

    Just curious - if I send this off for replacement/repair, can I still drive the car until the ABS is returned?

    I have a problem with the odometer in my Volvo s70 1997 it doesn't count, an error in the abs causes this problem ?

      A lot of systems run through the ABS, but I am not sure if that’s one of them. Do you have any warning lights on your dash?

    Вы конечно же старались,но гирлянда ошибок продолжает гореть на приборной панели.Значит ошибки остались и пропайка контактов не помогла.

    hello everybody, i have a t6 s80, the abs light came on and transmission started acting funny, later on the stc and abs light together and thats when the transmission craps out, also if i even turn the stearing wheel a lil bit and hit the gas the abs comes on and the traction control kicks in and i lose power and its got to the point where after this happends a few times a day the car would not move at all when is in drive and if it moves it just cant figure out what gerar to go into between 3rd and 4. and like today i got pist and floored it and it takes off 1 2 3 4 and just keeps going like nothing is wrong.
    my question is, would this abs stc bullshit be messing up my transmission and all it is its a sensor or module or is my transmission gone? please help, i spent almost 4000 on overhaul of engine and a week later this started, just had a baby and hve no money for expensive repairs or waste moneyon abs when is really the transmission.

      +Enrique Cano and now even the transmission urgent message came on

    • @KrisKasprzak
      @KrisKasprzak  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Enrique Cano I'll guess your ABS is totally shot. Several systems run through the ABS so when it goes, or even starts to go, you will see warning lights that appear to be unrelated. Contact Victor and see if he has any more advice.

      I have a very similar problem as well. When driving uphill on Drive, it just wouldn't climb and I am assuming it to be related to transmission. I drive using the 1, 2 and 3 and seems okay. However the fuel consumption is not the best I feel. I tried running with the AC off and seems better. The abs goes of when driving uphill or downhill and comes back, which I am assuming related to solder touching on and off.

    I have the same issue (STC/ABS lights) but my ABS control module has # 8619538, which I understand is not the one that is prone to failure. Is this true? What else could it be? CEM module?

    Gutsy move. If you round those bolts, you will probably not get them off. For around $7 you can get the correct tool.
