“Tri Martolod” Celtic Breton folk tune played on Italian Polygonal Virginal

If, like me, you love both piano and harp… the Italian polygonal virginal is the perfect crossover instrument! This keyboard of the harpsichord family was popular during Renaissance and early Baroque times, it is more compact than a harpsichord and while the string plucking mechanism is the same, the virginal strings run parallel to the keyboard (unlike a harpsichord where strings run from the front to the back of the instrument). From the outside, it looks like a harp, feels like a keyboard but sounds totally unique :)
This is how my favourite Breton tune “Tri Martolod” sounds on this amazing instrument. I’m obsessed with its deep harmonies that give it such unique vibes. What do you think? 🥰 which version of the tune do you prefer - this one or the Celtic harp

Oh que voilà un petit instrument singulier ! Un mélange de harpe et de clavecin avec en son centre, une rosace ouvragée comme sur le luth. La sonorité me semble plus ronde que celle du clavecin. Bien que je préfère Tri Martolod sur harpe, ta version est très plaisante, et devrait amener les joueurs vers un répertoire autre que celui de la renaissance.
Une très belle interprétation que j'ai eu grand plaisir à écouter en tout cas.

Très plaisant et "exotique" d'entendre un hymne traditionnel breton sur un instrument de musique baroque, qui d'après ce que je comprends est un petit frère du clavecin. C'est charmant ❤
