@@AtlauaFishingYeah I’ve seen a few videos about them now and definitely agree that they seem far safer. I know they must be inline too, but will just need to get used to leaning into them rather than striking! 😂 Cheers 🎣
Was that a PB branch? I only use inline circle hooks, have done for years! and it's really good to see someone else not chucking out one of those barbaric 2 treble hook rigs! Pike are getting rare these days... conservation, much easier to unhook etc. Incidentally, i also remove the barbs as well... once that hook goes in it rarely comes out even if the fish goes airborne. Tight Lines indeed!
Great comment mate, the ones I’m using currently are offset circles and since using I have hooked every fish in the corner of the mouth and unhooking has never been easier. Honestly can’t see a reason not to use them. The only thing Ive been trying to do is figuring a way to use pop-ups with the single hook so I can ledger a popped up bait… Thanks for watching bud and I wasn’t sure what you meant by PB branch? It’s a stretch on the Leeds & Liverpool canal 🎣👍
@@spikeymikeyangling6218lol my bad, I thought you meant a certain branch of the canal 🤣 I blame tiredness for that one 😅 I think I have had a bigger branch before to be honest so not a PB for me 🤣🤣🤣
Myself and my mate John have been using single hooks for the last decade or so.He uses 1 circle hook and I use a wide gape hook as my main with a smaller hook to secure the tail of the bait. The smaller hook is free running and ends up out the way if you hook a fish. You are right about the scissors.👌
Well done fella for Championing the use of circle hooks .....you are absolutely correct...it is the safest way, and only humane way to fish for pike...I will never go back to snap tackle and wish the authorities and fisheries would ban all treble hooks....Lovely fish BTW... too late for this season but in your next video hoping you can help explain your hook setup to make sure the viewers get to see how best to hook the bait to provide the best chance of hooking into the pike as you lift(not strike) into it?....👋👋👋
I’m fairly new to dead baiting as I’ve never wanted to use trebles unless I’m lure fishing with a single treble. After discovering circle hooks and how safe they are, I was excited to try deadbaiting with them and was so impressed how they caught pike in the scissor every time.. a win win for me 👌
Same here, I pretty much just use single circles for deadbaiting now and trebles on lures. Would be good to find some decent single hooks to try on some of my lures but I guess the hook up rate might reduce a little - always down to try different things to improve fishing and fish care 🎣 thanks for watching 👍
I wouldn’t look back either! Never had any trouble with trebles or single circles however unhooking has been much quicker and safer in my experience with them so far! Thanks for watching, tight lines! 🎣🐊
Thank you for watching! I often only fish for an hour or two as well so I make the most of first and last light or just pick a good location for the hour or two you’re fishing for 🎣
Nice video 👍
I’m definitely going to give circle hooks a go next season 🐊🎣
100% do matey, always good to make your own mind up about things but they are definitely safer in my opinion 👍🎣

@@stuw21to be honest I think I’m using the offset ones but haven’t had any issues with them at all, thanks for watching! 🎣👍
Great pike, I fish that marina often but never caught this big, nice one
Thanks matey, I’d love to fish in the actual marina but not allowed unless you have your own boat there 🙁 bet there’s some big girls in there 🐊🎣
Well done an excellent fish for a canal.
It was probably the nicest pike Ive caught to be honest, the pattern and colours were amazing! 🎣
I was on the spot you and I fish on Gorst Lane last night Perch fishing and caught a small jack. I'm only on a 3-10g rod. Well done.@@AtlauaFishing
@@theflossingfisherman7925well in mate, I’ll be dusting my lure rod off soon as well 🎣💪🏼

@@AtlauaFishing Most definitely 👍
Just changed to barbless circle hooks, easy to get out and 3 fish landed with no issues
Not had a single issue since I started using them, great to hear mate 🎣👍
I changed to circle hooks 2 years ago. Would never go back. No more loss of fish than with trebles. Much easier to get hooks out.

For the win indeed matey 💯🎣
