depends how aggressive they are when they keep changing homes. and they are not bunnies, they are full grown rabbits. yes, they scratch and bite with those chompers. just be aware. dont adopt then return them a week later. do your homework and know how to keep them. returning them is just cruel.

I have some good bunny related news:
My local Rural King FINALLY got rid of those awful wired bottom cages and now house their bunnies in a roomier pen. No more bottles because they now use water bowls. Huge improvement compared to before.
I’m glad I complained about the way they were being kept.

i am glad you had the sense to ask for quality of life improvements rather than just demanding they stop selling bunnies. Yes, of COURSE we all wish they wouldn't sell bunnies since they have to live in cramped, poor conditions and can be bought by people who will likely not care for them and eventually dump them at a shelter or worse. We get that and I'm sure you do . But we have to be realistic....they aren't going to just stop selling a profitable item. Sad, but true. So I wish more people would do what you did and make realistic requests to give the bunnies better lives until they are sold. Thanks for your efforts

Thanks a bunch! I take banna on my shelter service days because it's pure joy seeing them have some! Over 300 volunteer hours in shelter and on our 15th foster George and it's amazing. Find a good shelter those that can give some time and enjoy!!!
We got two bunnies last year on a whim. Best decision ever! They are so much fun. Ours LOVE bananas and are so sweet. I would like to get one more but I'm afraid they may not all get along. We were lucky with the two we have. The oldest is a male and we had him neutered about 3 weeks before we got our girl. They have been besties since day one.
We started with 2, then got a 3rd and now we somehow have 4! We had issues bonding 3, but as soon as we introduced a 4th everything changed and they’re all so lovely now! ❤

This was heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time. It definitely makes me want to go and spend some one on one time with my two buns!
Oh yes, once there was once a rabbit named Mulder at my local shelter. He wouldn’t let anyone pet him, but never got very much love. It took 20 minutes but I sat in the pen with him and when he finally let me pet him, Mulder immediately flopped from pure happiness. It was very amazing to watch! 😊❤

Thank you Lorelei for taking us to the shelter with you. It was lovely to see the bunnies banana reactions. Then, those 3 bunnies in the ex-pen having fun, running around together, moved me to tears. That gorgeous black bun Chuletta, shows us what a difference that space and some attention can have on him. ❤

I have 2 lionhead babies. Luna was purchased from a pet store and Sol was adopted from a rescue. I see such a difference in personality 😢 I really wish that I would've known to adopt VS buying at a pet store. Sol is such a sweetie & actually helped his big sister come totally out of her shell. He was handled with❤ Luna looked sad and was very antisocial. The rescue center gave such good info. They are super happy together. Please adopt , these babies need true caring homes. I wish I knew then what I know now. Big difference. ❤ your passion. I'm trying to order your potty & having a hard time trying to find it. Much ❤❤❤
We also have 2 lionheads! One is a rescue and one we bought. Ironically the 3 rescue buns we have are good as gold and the one we bought is a gremlin! 😂
Oh my goodness! That’s a lot of buns! Keep putting it out there. Please adopt! I’ve had my 3rd rescue about a month now and I’m finally able to scratch her head. It can take a long time to bring around a severely neglected bun but is so rewarding to see them slowly learn to trust again and eventually love you.
There's few things as hypnotically soothing as watching a bunny eat something tasty.

This is why I am so glad that I adopted my Ziggy from my local Humane Society - I didn't need to go to a breeder to find a special bun! And my Humane Society is big on bunny/owner dates - spend time in a special room with your potential new friend where they can move freely and show their personality. They also use a lot of fosters, so the buns get social interaction and free roaming more regularly.
It's a shame that we even need shelters, but as we do, it's an even bigger shame that they don't all have the resources that my local one does. Not that mine isn't hurting too, but somehow they manage to do a really good job with their bunnies!
I loved this video, and really wish that I could adopt Chuletta - I have the patience to love a difficult bun like him. He really stole my heart!

There isn’t a better example of peacefulness than a bunny. They are so cute. My first pet as a child was a rabbit. It just walked around the house and slept in my room. He didn’t even have a cage.

Good to see rabbits getting their potassium.
My mom gets serious allergic reactions to dogs and cats. So growing up we got to have rabbits and Guinea pigs as pets. Some were friendly and friendly and would follow us around tour backyard like a well behaved dog go on a leash. Others wanted nothing to do with any human touch. Never tried feeding them bananas. But mint plants grew wildly in great abundance in our garden and the pets all loved that. Watermelon, blades of grass, apples, hives, strawberries l, etc. luckily the little critters were not very finicky when it came to snacks and treats.😋Brushing and grooming another hit-n-miss activity as was being carried or sitting 🪑. People’s laps.

I have a bun that looks EXACTLY like the black baby who was really anti-social. He's a lion head and had a lot of floof too, and as well is black!! Very adorable!

First thing I get in the morning is a coffee and my bunny gets an inch long piece of banana. It's great to see someone so enthusiastic about seeing you.
It always makes me happy to see bunnies playing, mainly because my flemish giant is free roam and doesn't seem to understand she can leave the couch. Lazy chonker. Lol.

I think I told my Darla's story on another of your videos. But she was from a hoarding situation too. It really opened my eyes to just how many of these poor babies come from animal hoarders or backyard breeders.
Years ago, I would put out baby bananas for a bunny in my backyard. His name was Larry. He LOVED the baby bananas!
Now that I think of it, I'm going to buy more baby bananas for the bunnies that are in the yard now.

Those bunnys deserve a loving home
I had a bunnyear as a young teen. He was beautiful white and light brown...I named him Butterscotch. He didn't like to cuddle and wasn't happy. So after about a year I let him go. We lived in a small town near a wooded area. He came back everyday for pets and treats and to eat. Fall came and he began to stay away. But when spring came...there in my yard , was my bunny...with 3 tiny baby bunny's. He brought them to me, let me pet and play with them. They came everyday, to eat clover and play...then one day a small female bunny very timid came along. She played with her family in my yard, but would not be petted. They came off and on all summer. Fall came and that was the last time I saw my bunny family. It was such a joy, and something I will never forget. By the way, I did not get him from a pet store...but from a farmer. Who raised bunny's with kindness.

Me and my roommate had gotten two dwarf lop-eared bunnies from an animal shelter. Nobody wanted the two, they were in the shelter for many weeks. Both bunnies are so cute, they run around freely in the house and play with the black and white cat, all three are inseparable from each other. Hopefully these bunnies in this shelter will also getting a beautiful place where they can jump around for many years
Thank you for this video! I ❤ bunnies so much! I've had 3 as pets (3 separate occasions). One lived 10 years. His name was Bandit and he was the absolute sweetest. He lived indoors and was litter box trained. I used to take him outside on a leash. When he was older, he didn't even need a leash when he was outside. He never ran away. He was amazing.

For my job we get a benefit of 3 paid volunteer days and I’m so happy for the first time we are doing this my work has organised us to go to an animal sanctuary where they have dogs, cats, BUNNIES and farm animals all up for adoption! I can’t wait to take them all treats like bananas I’m so excited! I suggest everyone that has volunteer days with their work to do this! Lots of love Soph - United Kingdom 🐰

There r seaweed carpets but instead i spread hay n dry grass through out the whole apartment , its easy to brush up n to keep clean to replace w new hay or grass every week , they r free to run and to do whatever they want always n they r happier the more free they feel . Wonderful beings

My 2 are adopted, they've been with us a year now. They turn their nose up at banana though!
Its the middle of the night and there are only 2 things that can now make me cry. Happy bunnies and beautiful music. Guess what... Im 29yo man crying over these little miracles eating bananas for the first time while watching my bunny sleeping near to my bed after supper of 1/2 banana. I wish I could adopt all of them...

Great video. My daughter has 2 rabbits and we both love them so much. They stay in a pen inside and can move around but are also allowed to free roam in certain areas of the house. They are such a joy! They love bananas and strawberries.

my mom and i got my rabbit a 2 story cage so he still has room to play!, because he’s not aloud outside the cage when we’re not home. we also put mats on it because it’s wired and we learned most of this from you, so thank u loreli!
My flemish giant is like a local celebrity in my town of about 18,000. He's 18 pounds and is about 2.5 feet long so he gains a lot of attention. When people ask about rabbit care or talk about wanting a bunny after meeting mine, I try to stress how much work they are and not all rabbits will be as calm, friendly, or as relaxed as mine and they might not be immediately loving like mine as soon as they come home. My rabbit is like a puppy and willingly comes up to people and gives kisses, so it can be a stark contrast to most bunnies.
I'm happy that as of today, there have been no rabbits at my county's local humane society post-Easter and it makes me incredibly happy! It makes me feel like I'm actually making a difference because normally our county shelter does have rabbits after Easter.

Aw this is so sad! I always had them free running through house and garden. Seeing them unable to run, jump or come up for snuggles as they please is heartbreaking!
I just adopted a bunny from a shelter yesterday and I think the shelter was pretty poor and he was definitely not getting enough food. I can easily feel the texture on each bone in his body so I am going to be working on getting him nice and strong. He also has grooming trauma from his ear getting sliced by scissors 😭 I can’t imagine how many other bunnies are starving or worse. I love the work you do with bunnies that aren’t even yours. Keep up the good work!

I'm finally able to enjoy bunny content after losing my own bunny several months ago, he got very sick and unfortunately had to be put to sleep. I don't think I'll be ready to adopt a new one for a while because it kinda feels like losing a child, I'd definitely want to adopt a bunny from a shelter

I can't just hold out a banana to mine. Plum Thee Bunny does fine, but Caye Da' Otha' Bunny will break half the banana off and hop away, and that's too much banana for her. Ever tried to get a chunk of banana away from a bunny?

What a treat!! 😍 I avoided giving banana to my bunny due to the high sugar content but I gave her cherries once in a while. She really liked them. Her favorite treats were raisins. I miss my baby! ❤🐰🌈

You could arrange the runway around the periphery of the shelter and cages open to each other if they get along, in rows, in the center. Then arrange to your liking.🥰

I have one Hunny Bunny and she loves banana and other Bunny treats. I love her so much and you have helped me out with so much information about how to bond with her. She still doesn't like to be held but will allow me to pet her and brush her. She loves spa day with a long massage ❤
I got my two from a rescue five and a half years ago, they turned 7 in February, and they still lose their minds every time they realize I'm bringing them banana. Due to their birth month, it's likely they were originally Easter gifts.

I got a bunny about a year ago and have tried to implement a lot of things you suggested. He still has a cage but the top is never on... He never leaves it though and any time I take him out and put him on the floor he just hops right back to his cage. He has always been very content alone, he will turn his back to us when we try to engage him. He does seem to like me talking to him every day and looks at me every time I do but I want to get him more comfortable and happy here. It's been a year and I feel like we have only made little progress :(
I miss having bunnies, every time I would eat a banana I always shared with them. I also have a greenhouse and loved sharing the bounty with them. Basil, cilantro, spinach they loved it all. Then they'd lie around on the floor contented next to my border collies and cats just like any other member of the family.

Lorelei, I love what you're doing here. I had house bunnies years ago before it was commonplace. I'm starting an animal welfare channel and would love to interview you. You're absolutely right about shelters. They're overwhelmed with animals and there's not enough fosters. I help rescue cats and I have a foster right now who will be going to a Petsmart Adoption store. The cats are kept in crate-like cages and it makes me sad. Unfortunately, there's so many cats (like bunnies) who need homes that we just can't foster indefinitely. You're doing a great job advocating for the bunnies. Thank you.❤
