Yeah also her pride skill kinda made her think of everything as xp . I think it was explained in vol6 of the ln that pride has that affect on the user.
Her sanity was probably what hinted she was the admin D because like they have almost the same mentality as her and as a theory I think her like soul was put into two and one part went into admin D and the other into like her spider form

that is not the entire story as she also (AGAIN, SPOILERS) was given memories and a part of Administer D's/"Wakaba"'s soul so she could skip working in the underworld as a god
@@jadethescribe he too and not being edgy but litreally me??? Like I too never related with people going over the top about "killing bad people" it always seemed goofy to me
This show it’s so many unique ideas not just having a protagonist as a spider but the idea of multiple people being reincarnated in the same world but into different parents and factions is something I haven’t seen in the other Isak Kai.
This all hinges on believing that killing is wrong which is subjective. It's kind of the point of this story just like Executioner's way of life. I love how the story frames the evil vs good side and how much characters are indoctrinated by whichever side they are on
I don't think I really emphasized this in the video but where I was coming from when I made this video was based in the assumption that Kumoko was a normal human/ had a normal human life before being reincarnated. With that assumption her behavior a certain points in the story is really strange (which is intentional on the story's part). You are definitely right about the whole good vs evil perception thing. It's probable one of the most interesting dynamics in the story.
@@jadethescribe I would really implore you to be cautious with the term "normal" as living in certain ecosystems (where gangs violence is a daily event) could teach a child to live as a survivor. Aladdin is an example as technically he steals and cheats his way to the top and shouldn't even have a chance with Jasmine (as he doesn't even know court etiquette) A really good example of a character learning the royal ropes is the Bibliophile princess. You're absolutely right that Kumoko's mind processes that recognize her game world and what she must do is odd but compare her to Maple from Bofuri and you'll notice it's a survivalist mindset that a gamer has. This mindset is why I know if the Overlord crew were looking to scout from other isekai, They would gladly welcome our Spider Idol. I'm definitely on your side as I see kumoko as "PTSD on meth" since, we see what she goes through and to start your life like a shark baby eating it's kin so it can have the best chance in life is the first lesson to shape her mindset. But she can't be fully crazy since she has that meltdown about being jealous she wasn't a cute vampire baby 🤣 That's why I love kumoko so much, I completely understand her logic and how she knows this reality is just a game and she's going to grind to the top. Shes the kind of person who'll go through the hassle of finding hidden bosses in Final Fantasy games. Normal people don't do that. But this isn't a slice of life, this is a slice of Spider. Imagine if she were a black widow or praying mantis and accidentally beheads all the mates she gets when passionately getting it on, reviving them and then doing it again... She's basically like the grandma from the Dr Tran Toy store short animation. Peak comedy.
Also remember, Kumako's intelligence has been majorly uplifted to human levels of thought and emotion levels. Remember that she WAS a spider in Japan. A real normal spider. All she had to do, in reality, in Japan was to catch insects, liquified the bodies, drink the nutrients, and lay eggs and prepare for them their first food. She knows the humans in the school room exist, but they wouldn't matter to her, because humans are godlike compared to her in her past life. Now she is their superiors. Oh, yes, Kumako is a real spider in Japan. Hope this has opened your eyes.
If anything, she's quite possibly become less cruel in a sense, because if she was still a feral spider she'd probably kill the other humans without a thought.
@@polasamierwahsh421 Sorry for the late story spoiler, but yes Kumoko was an actual spider on Earth. And yes, without the intelligence and personality upgrade she would view everything as food.
Something that LN and Manga readers have missed is that after killing the monkeys she gains the merciless title (shown in status but not explained) which has the effect of negating feelings of guilt. I feel like most people would be capable of killing in a life and death situation but after said situation ends they’d feel guilt. Kumoko can’t which is definitely a large contributing factor to her insanity.
Maybe she became like that because of bad experience inside the labyrinth for too long almost forgot about common sense in human community which makes her a monster.

@RE: NEKO For a while there I didn't know what you were talking about. When I say "demon lord skill" I'm not talking about Ariel lol. I'm referring to the ruler skill as a "demon lord skill". I believe a character called the skills that have to do with sins something like that. Eh but it's not really important lol
@@jadethescribe there is a skill literally called "Demon Lord" Earned by being sufficiently monstrous in behavior, having it makes one a candidate for the "Demon Lord" Title. Ariel has both the title and the skill, while Kumoko has only the Demon Lord Skill. The "Hero" skill and title works the same way. You earn the skill by being heroic, and it makes you a candidate for inheriting the "hero" title. Ironically, Kumoko also earns the hero Skill. The ruler titles and skills are similar, with the main difference is that the ruler skills have to usually be leveled up through a series of lesser versions before you earn the ruler skill, upon which the ruler title is awarded so long as you are the only being to have that skill. if a ruler is still alive, nobody else can level up a ruler skill to max. Ruler skills can also be bought, with the cost calculated based on one's personality, and how much they have leveled up the lesser versions of the skill. Kumoko bought Pride for the bare minimum 100 skill points with no prior grinding by the way. both perseverance and sloth were far more expensive for her. the fifteen ruler skills are based on the seven deadly sins and the seven heavenly virtues, with wisdom being a new one created for Kumoko by D. to reiterate, by the time she kills Araba, Kumoko has Pride, perseverance, wisdom, and sloth. Most people will only ever get one ruler skill before getting killed.

So volume 15 just dropped and after the elf village massacre Mera was so worried that Shiro would start eating dead elves that he offered to make her breakfast. She even caught on to this and had an internal monologue about how she eats her enemies out of respect for them
Yeah also her pride skill kinda made her think of everything as xp . I think it was explained in vol6 of the ln that pride has that affect on the user.
wow, this was very detailed and well-edited. Keep up the great work
Thanks a bunch!
As a light novel reader I am currently feel so much power over the manga and anime communities
Her sanity was probably what hinted she was the admin D because like they have almost the same mentality as her and as a theory I think her like soul was put into two and one part went into admin D and the other into like her spider form
Interesting theory 👍
Spoilers for further on in the series
The name of the series gives away a secret about Kumoko. Namely she IS a spider and was a spider on Earth until the classroom got blown up. This isn't a story about her losing her morals, it's about finding them to an extent. sm
that is not the entire story as she also (AGAIN, SPOILERS)
was given memories and a part of Administer D's/"Wakaba"'s soul so she could skip working in the underworld as a god
@@Yuki_Ika7 bruh just to not work lol
@@Yuki_Ika7 Is that why she has memories as a class member then?
SHES NOT MAD shes a bit unhinged BUT saving the world is saving the world
That's why I love her
@@jadethescribe he too and not being edgy but litreally me??? Like I too never related with people going over the top about "killing bad people" it always seemed goofy to me
She’s the definition of chaotic natural and that’s why she’s one of my favourite anime protagonists
I mean I don't think she was ever really 'normal'. You can't really survive in her situation if you were normal (I.E. like the other reincarnations)
Yeah
i guess that's what happens when a social creature is trapped with very hostile things underground
Makoto rizzed up a Spider and he gonna do it again💀
Aladdin is an example as technically he steals and cheats his way to the top and shouldn't even have a chance with Jasmine (as he doesn't even know court etiquette)
A really good example of a character learning the royal ropes is the Bibliophile princess.
But she can't be fully crazy since she has that meltdown about being jealous she wasn't a cute vampire baby 🤣
That's why I love kumoko so much, I completely understand her logic and how she knows this reality is just a game and she's going to grind to the top.
Wait what?
@@polasamierwahsh421 Sorry for the late story spoiler, but yes Kumoko was an actual spider on Earth. And yes, without the intelligence and personality upgrade she would view everything as food.
@@stanleyteriaca2184 that...Wait THEN why isn't she just a predator with brain like demons or boss monsters but rather a human like being?
@@stanleyteriaca2184 also tis ok , life happens
When reading about camancheria settler accounts of KOS style survival i completely understand why she'd do that now.
Very useful and relevant comment.
I solute you!
The story of Kumoko's is essentially what happens when a Hikikomori/Incel/Otaku decides that they actually decided to move on and survive.
There is a part in this video which makes LN readers smirk. Not gonna say which part though.
I mean there's not much to complain about if you're slipping away from life physically every day too...
Maybe she became like that because of bad experience inside the labyrinth for too long almost forgot about common sense in human community which makes her a monster.
Ngl i wish there were content on the w system, i feel like its a hidden gem in this show.
not trying to dis him, but he clearly hasn't read the LN when he made this vid 7:25
@@grimdaybreaker Yeah I didn't because it's about the anime adaptation which was airing at the time. I don't believe I claimed to have read the light novels in the video. It was mainly my speculation about what I watched at the time. I'm aware of a lot of later plot points today.
I forgot that dungeon sickness makes your sense of time wacked she could've been there for more than a year
She wasn't in the dungeon for a year she was in it for at least a decade in the anime people mention about the nightmare of the laberynth (which is her) and how long its been since they saw her
Particularly this old man who managed to get away from her
Yeah @@Voltaic01 it seems you're right the wiki says at about a year which makes me all the more confused I watched the dub so it may have been a script error then
oh? That was a pretty cool analysis.
Thanks my dude, I appreciate it
if i was an earth dragon and got beat by a small spider id give up too
to be fair that's one crazy spider lol.
I mean, spoiler for the LN but
her constant killing is actually due to the pride skill
Hmmmm, that's actually pretty interesting. It is a demon lord skill so I get it
@RE: NEKO For a while there I didn't know what you were talking about.
@@MrSailing101 technically most people will never earn, or even learn of ruler skills. Even if the seven deadly sins and heavly virtue skills are known, barely anyone knows about ruler privileges.
Slight LN spoiler but I think at volume 13 or 14 she didn't realize she was friends with somebody even though they've known each other for like 12 years I might be misremembering what happened but it was interesting
edit: i know nobody likely cares but i read a few volumes again and this part im talking about is in volume 15 chapter 4 aight bye
i know that part of the reason i am so weird and crazy (in a good way) is to cope with life's struggles, in fact it runs in my family! Also her [Ruler of ____] skills and/or titles effect how she thinks too
Spoiler of this anime is kumoko is actually a real spider on earth in the classroom and D is Wakaba a god that slacking of in her job ..

something the anime does not really show is the effects of the sin and virtue skills which warp the mind (explained in more detail in the light novels)

its some of the seven deadly sins skills that can change how people thing and the skill pride the thing she have makes you think every thing as EXP
and another thing it can be is that she is a spider, what i mean is that she was a spider before she got reincarnated and the god D is the real Kumoko

Gotcha, yeah the CG in this show overall was really hit or miss so I understand the way you feel.

rimuru vs kumoko
kumoko has 3 voices in her head (well i guess she does lose one by it going to the demon lord's mind and being merged with it soo)
rimuru has 1

When/where did she get the name "Kumoko"?
Don't recall it ever being mentioned in anime...her stats always show " unnamed"...
It's basically a fan-name. Kumo means spider and the -ko ending is for female names. Basically, she's named Spiderette.
Also, when she couldn't use magic she thought it would be nice to be "the magical girl Kumoko".
Its a name given by fans of WN and LN. basically means “female spider”
Thanks; missed that line...
Noticed it later, too, in theme song...after posting question...smh
