THE HERO AIS SO DUMB
So biggest question, what about Season 3?
SEASON 2 WHEN IM GOING TO SPAM THIS TILL ITS ANNOUNCED!!!
"I know Julius wouldn't run in a situation like this"
Yes, and he got oneshotted by a spider with social anxiety.
And there's a dfference
His brother couldn't even run, if he could he would be alive :v
Julius fought valiantly, Julius fought nobly, Julius fought honourably. And Julius died.
Weeeeell
To be fair, the odds were heavily stacked against him
Julius was revealed to have a very similar character to Shun, and no, he wouldn't have run. And the story punishes noble thoughtless actions like that.
@@leonel392 yeah lol, in the novel im pretty sure she just orbital strikes him, i dont remember 100% tho.
"Julius Nii-sama would not run"
And thats why he died and it didnt matter at all, while Kumoko knew when to run and when to fight, and became the pivotal part of the global outcome
Spoiler
One became nothing more than another statistic, the other became a god. Hmm. I wonder if that means something.
He ran because he knew who she is. But that didn't help
To be fair with Julius, this poor guy was totally beaten up and didn't even had the time to think about running away before being Thanosed XD
Well to be fair to Julius, he was actually doing pretty damn well during the battle until White walked on to it.
Yeah, Julius was an idealist but not an Idiot. He is actually a rather decent character when you get his story proper even knowing acting how he did "the brave unshakable hero" would get him killed young the moment he ran into something stronger than him. Yet he felt giving his one life in exchange for all the people he could save by standing tall even when running might be in his best interest was something worth doing, the sacking of Vampy's home town - the horrors of war that happened to it he blames on himself for having failed to take a stand or even consider what his siding with the attacking army meant.
Julius was the type who knew he would die and decided being an actual hero "a symbol of hope amidst the evils and savagery of the world" was worth his life saving the many his fighting would spare cowering behind him.
Shun is just starstruck blinded without even knowing the reality of Julius' grim resolve, would Julius have run from Sophia in Shun's situation? No however he would have certainly been urging his companions to flee as well as actually having a discussion with the chatty super vamp instead of yelling emotional bile and swinging a sword around like a club.

That is way everyone hates Shun
That’s what Sophia was talking about right after that line.

I can’t stand that guy. He is willing to fight a losing battle and get all his friends killed. He has no plan or trick up his sleeve. His sole reason to do something is based on his view of what his brother would do.
I'd love to see more realistic smart isekai mc's. Like Jobless Reincarnation

the dude has server anger problems not an issue of being a compulsive lair
Wait a minute... thats a tfs reference
Shun: What would my brother do in this fight?
I couldn’t help but think, “That same brother who died in a fight?” We also have no idea about the Demon Army’s side of the story. Stop charging into a losing battle. That’s how you die. The elves have so many red flags with them protecting the reincarnations by kidnapping or buying them, then forcing them into a farm life with no contact with the outside world other than Shun and friends.
Julius was a real hero though.
He grew with his every mistake and honestly he was one of the best written "Hero" characters I have ever seen. Not to mention, he was also a man of culture. Too bad he needed to die.
If you ask me, there is nothing wrong with admiring Julius. But what Shun is doing isn't just admiring. He is copying him, trying to act like him. The problem is he isn't even aware of his surroundings. He isn't aware of the consequences of his actions. He just simply doesn't have enough character to be like Julius. That's why all he is and all he could ever be is a clown.
@@bedirhansaglam4066 Thank you for writing. I honestly don’t know enough about Julius because so far he’s only been in a few scenes.
@@bedirhansaglam4066 Yeah, Shun doesn’t have the resolve to forge his own path, instead he clings to his view of his older brother and his earthly ideals to simulate what a hero should be like in his eyes instead of actually doing the right thing.
@@exoticcats6119 We get the story of Julius in vol 11 and 12. When Shun declared himself to be a discount Julius, he had no idea how right he was. He's badly imitating Julius without having a firm grasp on how Julius would actually act if he were in the same situation. Julius made damn sure to never just follow one side blindly. If he were in this situation, he'd try to talk it out and gain a better understanding of the circumstances before picking an unwinnable fight.
@@bedirhansaglam4066 "he was also a man of culture"
What do you mean by that??
You know guys, it kind of feels like Shun is trying to be a protagonist, idk how to feel about that honestly. Also even Luffy knows when it's time to retreat and Luffy takes on foes not because "he has to" but because he wants to.
Luffy also has excellent, finely honed battle instincts and an imaginative way of using whatever live gives him.
Same thing with Goku from DBZ. That dude loves fighting more than anything so much so that he's willing to abandon his friends and family often for months or sometimes years at a time, to train to get stronger so he can fight stronger opponents. Yet even Goku knows when it's time to retreat and regroup, when he realizes he's fighting a losing battle. Shun needs to learn that because his gung ho attitude isn't going to fly against Kumoko, who's literally been training since birth in that new world to strategize during combat on the fly..
Strong and/or wise people know their limits, weak and/or stupid people don´t.
Luffy either fights people because he wants to and thinks it will be fun or because they hurt or threaten his friends, hes pretty much the definition of chaotic neutral. He doesnt fight because its the right thing to do, and sometimes he even turned away from situations where people are in trouble cause he can’t be bothered. Shun is trying to be the traditional hero of “fight to the last breath for what is right” even though that doesnt work unless you have plot armor or are unbelievably powerful and don’t have to compromise your beliefs to win. Shun has neither which is why he seems pathetic
@@RainbowAnimeCupcake I think what also hurts shun is oka literally told him not to get too strong yet he never once questions it. And then of course, he's trying too hard to be like his older brother whom he was raised to believe was that world's greatest champion. The problem is he wasn't, and needs to start to thinking for himself rather than thinking what his brother would do in every situation. Don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with idolizing a person and wanting to emulate them, but at the end of the day, every man has to find his own way
I will say that the idea of a whole class of students getting isekaied into a new world all as different races, nationalities and times is a interesting concept putting former friends against each other in a war has so much potential drama.
And Oka (the Teacher) just went any yoinked most off the former students, now strangers from their lifes. Either by obducting them or buying them like Slaves and forcibly hold them Hostage and force them to live a Agrarian Lifestyle when many probably couldve been great influences and forces of good in their respective lifes...But because one deluded woman cant let go she destroyed that for many.
They were all reincarnated at the same time, it's just Kumoko was grinding levels from Day 1, being born a spider and able to move and act immediately. While the kids who reincarnated as humans had the misfortunate of having to grow like them.
@@66Roses while they were all reincarnated at the same time not all of them were born at the same time. kumoko due to being a spider hatched about 6 month before the others and fei due to being a dragon took much longer than anyone else. by the time the other started getting born kumoko was allready slaying dragons.
What's funny is the fact that this is what realistic Isekai looks like From a psychological perspective Fun but very screwed up
It’s mostly fun for us
Whats stranger is that they lived 15 years in another world with Memories of their first life but have no emotional growth nor are acclimatized to the new customs, they think and act using morals from Japan a place they have left for 15 years that is almost equal to the entire life they stayed there, they act like people who where isekai a week ago, oka is a exception since she refuses her self for years already in Japan and clings desperatly to her former identity justifying anything with the excuse she is a teacher protecting her students

This is true. But then we wouldn’t have drama.
Ya even the main character was confused after seeing how they acted in the LN
well, the issue is that the anime cut off A LOT of exposition that explains why the demons did all they did, it basically boils down to "the elves are controlling the hero" so, it makes total sense to eliminate the hero and destroy the kingdom they belong to so that the hero doesnt get stronger and it was going great UNTIL shun became the hero, and given that he is a self righteous stupid idiot, everything went to hell because he willingly went to the elves, no matter the amount of evidence, shun is never going to accept the truth, even after he got taboo lvl 10, he still fights the demons
This was the best episode yet, watching the beauty vampire just constantly humiliate shun was hilarious 😂
I love how shun keeps saying what would his brother do when the things that his brother did lead him to die so if he keeps copying his brother they will all die like think for yourself for once and stop trying to rely on your dead brother
And if it werent for Kumoko stopping her Vesige he wouldve died in Alroe already lol
shun is only relevant cause he has the hero title. but even with the hero title he stands no chance 1v1 sophia or wrath
Honestly, the only reason the previous Heroes beat the Demon Lords was because of the special perk the title gives them. If it was strength and skill, then the Demon Lord would win every time. The Hero going against someone who outclasses all the previous Demon Lords when they don’t have the Demon Lord title? Nah, that ain’t happening.
I imagine Shiraori would "save" him from her grandmother
That’s because his hero title/skill is only useful against people with the Demon Lord title/skill. Other opponents would always have the upper hand because they don’t have that handicap.
@@michaelirazori9214 Don't confuse titles with skills. They're two seperate things. A lot of people can have a hero/demon lord skill. Only one person can have the hero/demon lord title. The hero title only works against the demon lord title, not the skill.

But will the studio show us their meeting in next episode or in episode 1 of a possible season 2?
EEEE, Wrath!!! God I love him, he's such a great character! Love the coloration they chose here too, so unique!
Alas, Kyouya the 8th Army Commander of Demon Army finally reveal himself in front of Shun and others and it becomes all players have gather scene right there.

That's remind me Mario 64 speedrun, just glitching to the point
I always found Shun's speech at the start of this clip quite funny. You shouldn't be taking survival advice from Julius, he's dead. Obviously his creed/methods didn't pan out.
Also, they ask why a *DEMON* is in the *DEMON LORDS ARMY,* like he's a demon, where else is he going to be?
Shun: I HAVE THE POWER OF ANIME AND FRIENDSHIP!
Kyouya: Neat. I have the power of an enhanced monster species and the drive to exterminate the elves.
Kyouya: Good thing I am your friend then, right?
Bro in the books Kyouya or Wrath's story is one of if not the saddest and tearjerking for me, love it (LN10 reader here)
I just finished watching the series today and I was wrong to pre-judge it. The world building, characterisation, magic system, action and the multilayered deep plot really blew me away. I never imagined I would find myself captivated by the adventures of a sassy spider😂 Also, the human/re-incarnations subplot was even more interesting than I thought. I don't understand why so many people were bashing it. The way it led to multiple twists and revelations really kept me hooked. Now I want to buy and read the light novels because I need to know more of this story!
People bashed the human reincarnation subplot because they didn't understand that their was a pay-off to it, that being the eventual (and easily predictable) reveal that Kumoko becomes Shiraori/White. As such people that could not understand it was being done for a very specific payoff probably just thought it was annoying and less screen time for their favourite spider.
I would reccomend you to read the LN too, it'st so damn good! It contain even more twist and revelation and of course there are parts about the adaptation that are missing but honestly i think the anime did a great job adapting it!
I'm reading the LN now. It's so damn good. Especially because there's so many little things in the LN only that wasn't in the anime, it makes a lot of things more sense and a blast to read through :)
@@DoomsdayR3sistance The real reveal of the last episode is that the spider we all love is the true villain of Shun's story. When we understand this, it makes the story feels completely different.
I feel like Shun is going to be the Suzaku of this anime. Staying on the wrong side to satisfy his "heroic" code of conduits whatever anyone tell him until it comes close to ruining the plans of Kumoko and co...
Of course the big difference is that suzaku actually had a legit reason for doing that and grew out of it, where as shun is just an idiot
@@dylanpalton3331 Suzaku was still kind of like a really naïve Charlemagne SS corps soldiers thinking he could change the fricking whole facist empire colonising his country by serving him and getting promotions ! XD
That would require him to be able to think for himself by stopping to idolize his brother over anything and start to embrace the new life and world he lives in. Which I guess he never will do. None off it
1:37 Maybe if you explain to them in a less vague and more specific way how the elves are responsible for everything bad in this world (or at least most of it) maybe they would understand why are you doing this or even some of them could change sides , but no, better give a vague answer and Let your strength do the talking. How good that they are best friends.
Well, Sophia is contemptuous of most of them. And Kyouya just wants to get things done.
@@dungeonguy88 Is not an excuse he could have simply explained to them I even think it would save them some time. In fact, from what I have read in Wikipedia, Kumo-shan herself will have to intervene to end these senseless fights and give a not very open but clearer explanation (Although I may have been wrong as I already said, I read it on Wikipedia).
@@juanbisonosuero3650 Oka didn't give him the chance to do it sadly :(
@@juanbisonosuero3650 I'm not really trying to excuse them not explaining themselves better.
Neither Kyouya or Sophia are particularly well-balanced or entirely sane. And it causes a lot of problems when they actually need to talk to other.
Even though he seems calm right now, Kyouya/Wrath is not sane. Which make sense given everything he's been through.
This Oni right here, I love him.
Pretty strong guy, chill most of the time. If he could fly he would be invincible (maybe).
At this point, being part of the demon army sounds more fun and interesting 🤔
Also I hated the fact that Shun and his gang really think they can actually defeat Sophia, when she’s obviously in a class of her own. The whole power of friendship and never giving up was Corny AF, only one anime can do that and that’s either Fairy tail or eden zero ( I know I’m getting off topic)
Also at the end of the episode, we see the woman in white ( I think it’s Kumoko) going to the area where Shun and the gang are. Does that mean that we’re going to get another class reunion? Well if anyone does remember her real name
Yeah, the Hero Title that Shun has is influencing his soul and personality warping his mind to be more fitting hero. You can kind of see it in how most of the others are somewhat more practical about this whole fight and are open to just walking away.
@@dungeonguy88 Also the authors hatred towards the hero trope, which denies Shun of any character development at all.
Honestly, the author sucks for being so pathetic and ruining the entire human side just because of this.
@@Darthrath666 I'd disagree with that assessment.
So, I'm a Spider, so what? is meant to be a deconstruction of the classic Isekai genre, breaking down and pulling apart the cliches common to that kind of story. And part of a deconstruction usually lies in pointing out how unrealistic certain ideas or behavior in a story really is. To that end, having an in-universe reason for why an otherwise intelligent and educated young man suddenly is trying to act like a stereotypical hero is a part of that.
Shun's behavior doesn't make sense for a regular Japanese student that's been thrown into another world. But that's how he would act as a protagonist in a normal Isekai story. And so this story actually looks for and provides a reason for why that is.
the white woman is kumoko
@@danielharaoui143 👀 *spoiler*
Once again, Shun shows the major issue that comes with having the "Hero" title attached to you without the necessary mental resistance.

Geez... I had high hopes for this LN adaptation. But the inconsistencys (2D-3D compositions in the same frame, different dimensions for the same character, terrible camera compositions in the last couple of episodes) rly depressed me 😔
Honestly, the first half of this season was pretty enjoyable and it made me excited for the second half, and now I have not watched the last couple of episodes because I just can’t handle how poorly animated this is. Characters are literally just being dragged across the screen at points, which is honestly unacceptable, it probably would’ve been way higher quality if they did what Slime did and decided to put more than a week or two break between the two parts and instead did a month or two break.
They had some serious issues finishing this episode that caused a delay that's why the quality has been so low
I love that they are acting all Chuunibyou while Kumoko is just out chilling having fun!

Feels good coming back to these comment sections and seeing how everyone hated the "Shun and company" episodes
And that's the last we'll be seeing of this timeline, for at least until the end of season 2. It's quite the cliffhanger.
Nah, there'll be a little more next week with the biggest reveal (that most people would have suspected).
A world where "hero" isn't exactly a designation nor honorific.
In this world it translates to "BAAAKAAA!" 😁😁
This episode made it see like this kyouya reveal was a BIG DEAL, maybe tell us who he was and his background first
It's a big deal in the sense that Shun didn't know what happened to his best friend.
And for his backstory (and Sophia's) you'll need to wait season 2 (if there'll be one) and Kyouya's backstory is the best of the show (in my opinion).

I normally would take the side of the heroes but im more in a neutral team right now
i dont care who wins as long as Kumoko survives
To be honest, from a completely neutral, uninformed perspective, the elves are completely shady, and the demons are evil. If I had to chose, I’d seriously go with Hyrince’s plan and bail after killing Hugo. Everything else is a whole lot of not my problem.
Oh you're gonna have to take sides eventually :)
@@coltonwilliams4153 Yeah, the Demons are mostly coming across as Evil because they aren't really explaining their position at all. Most of the Demon forces are as ignorant of what's going on as Shun. Meanwhile, Sophia, Kyouya, and the other top members that know what is going on aren't really inclined to explain themselves or explain themselves poorly.

@@coltonwilliams4153 That's true. Most of the characters that know what's actually going on have various issues that make them...bad at actually explaining what's going on. Mostly due to their deeply-seated psychological issues.
