Justice is always served. His inclusion ahead of Rory Best was one of the huge shocks in the Lions squad, this thug should have never been selected. He was however, and he went an threw threw the greatest honour in British and Irish rugby in Gatland's face, what an idiot.
When Scott Murray (Scotland v Wales) was red carded after being late tackled and kicking out in retaliation, he not only apologised to the opposing player, but also the referee before he left the pitch. As a captain Hartley should have set an example and done the same.
It's alleged because Heartly claims he said it to an opposition front row for boreing in at the scrum. He claims he looked at Barnes to see if he was getting caught as he said it. I don't know, but when i was playing I always looked at the ref if I was doing something I probably shouldn't be, so I guess we will never know
Worthless post, mate. Barnes is a top ref, only kiwis and dimwits don't think so. Ask yourself why he was officiating his 3rd final in a row, why don't you... As for Dylan Hartley's picture, it turns up next to the definition of terms that politeness prohibits listing here.
its the fact that (a) he has just warned him about how he was speaking to him and (b) he called the ref a cheat that got him red carded. You are right this is not football the refs will not take that sort of crap from players.
If you go on Google images and type Dylan Hartley red card go to the third image on the right it shows Graham Kitchener holding back Tom Youngs proving Hartley's comments were directed at Tom Youngs. Why would Tom Youngs get angry at a comment if it wasn't directed at him? It doesn't make any sense! He should be in Oz!
"You can kick it out, you can kick it out" Sending Hartley off was the right decision. However if a ref cannot pronunciate clearly to a player then he should not be a ref. Simple as.
I don't understand these commentators..this is not football...If any player or team offcial talks to me like that in a football match he or she gets a red card just as fast. Anyway, correct refereeing by Wayne Barnes.
The red clearly says you can't kick it straight out (ie not bouncing) BUT you can kick it out. Correct decision by the ref Hartley deserved the red aswell you can't call the ref or someone near the ref a FUCKING CHEAT
He's officiating his 3rd final in a row because he is Englands best ref, that doesn't mean he's a good ref. He struggles with the big games. He single handedly gave that game to Leicester, simple as that.
Any true rugby fan would agree with the sending off, whether your a Saints fan or whatever, you cannot talk to the ref like that!
Foul and abusive language towards the ref used to mean a season ban. If the RFU don't deal with this we may as well start playing soccer.
This has got nothing to do with football so why the needless comparison? Such comments only reinforce rugby's inferiority complex.
Barnes is a top ref, not afraid to make a difficult decision at an important time
Justice is always served. His inclusion ahead of Rory Best was one of the huge shocks in the Lions squad, this thug should have never been selected. He was however, and he went an threw threw the greatest honour in British and Irish rugby in Gatland's face, what an idiot.
And Barnsey being a Barrister as well
This guy never learns. he's been cited for punching, eye-gouging and biting as well as swearing at the official today. He's a disgrace to the game
It wasn’t that he swore - he used the c-word.
“Cheat.”
Commentator: “Oh it’s a red card! And it’s Dylan Hartley......”
The commentator forgot to add the word “again” onto that last sentence that he spoke.
Well Barnes did warn him.
"Allegedly"???
Jesus Christ , I cant believe this guys are professionals, he told them 3 fucking times not to kick it out and they did.
When Scott Murray (Scotland v Wales) was red carded after being late tackled and kicking out in retaliation, he not only apologised to the opposing player, but also the referee before he left the pitch. As a captain Hartley should have set an example and done the same.
What's alleged about this ?
He swore at the referee, he walks
It's alleged because Heartly claims he said it to an opposition front row for boreing in at the scrum. He claims he looked at Barnes to see if he was getting caught as he said it. I don't know, but when i was playing I always looked at the ref if I was doing something I probably shouldn't be, so I guess we will never know
Well done Wayne Barnes! There is no place for abusive language towards the referee, this is not football!
It's probably for the best that it happened on home soil, rather than down under, during a test match v Australia.
What a Muppet! Don`t normally have much time for Barnes but spot on that time. Plus RB on Lions team now. Poetic justice.
You are not using your criteria correctly.
Worthless post, mate. Barnes is a top ref, only kiwis and dimwits don't think so. Ask yourself why he was officiating his 3rd final in a row, why don't you... As for Dylan Hartley's picture, it turns up next to the definition of terms that politeness prohibits listing here.
Wow people calling Barnes Tigers 16th player but us Tigers fans say the exact same except for saints

people can misinterped if they are spoken to
wayne barnes is a legend
Dylan Hartley for the lions?????, if the lions management think Hartley is a Lions player then God help us.
did dylan hartleys team win after he was sent off??
No, they lost 37-17
He shouldn't have been on the team in the first place! Hopefully they selection board will have the common sense to give the spot to Rory Best
Bad couple of mins for Hartley. Feel for him, but the laws of the game must be upheld, else it will go the same way as football
I don't know why he sent off?
Call the ref "a f*cken cheat" and you take a walk, everytime.
Less backchat from all players,please
Well done Wayne Barnes.
They shot themselves in the foot.
Perhaps next time they will know to take heed of a direct order from a ref.
*ref at the start
Even amature S.O know you can't do that
well said joe saints didnt stand a chance 14 against 16 , He hammered saints from the first whistle
Hartley is a loose cannon, Barnes is a great ref
Hartley is a nasty player ! I really don't understand peolpe saying they like him...
"You can kick it out, you can kick it out"
Sending Hartley off was the right decision. However if a ref cannot pronunciate clearly to a player then he should not be a ref. Simple as.
Lol I rest my case :)
I'm a football fan but preference the way rugby is refereed, I like the respect players give the ref and the control the ref has
quite simply the worst referee in the game, he is Leicester's 16th man
I don't understand these commentators..this is not football...If any player or team offcial talks to me like that in a football match he or she gets a red card just as fast. Anyway, correct refereeing by Wayne Barnes.

Some say if you search the definition of the term 'wanker' then a picture of Wayne Barnes appears...
He's officiating his 3rd final in a row because he is Englands best ref, that doesn't mean he's a good ref. He struggles with the big games.
He single handedly gave that game to Leicester, simple as that.
Hartley swore at the Ref
Northampton were told that the game must re-start and that he could not kick the ball to touch
Barnes was absolutely spot on
People all ways swear and abuse the ref, it comes pass and parcel with the game. Remember you have 30 fired up men on the field. this isnt soccer
Typical 16th man display from Wayne Barnes, Hartley was speaking to a Tiger not to or about that despicable excuse for a ref.
