Picked this up on game pass not long ago, and I’m hooked. On my way to fighting the 2nd boss, but discovered some mountains in my journeys, which led me here. Now turns out I need to go to the swamp anyway just to get the stuff I need to not freeze to death in that mountain. Also discovered that wolves hit like a TRUCK at my level, but after a couple deaths and some close calls, was able to tame 2 of them and brought them back to base to breed more. Just base lvl wolves, no stars, but where I’m at in the game, just 2 of em took on an entire greydwarf raid at base, so I think they’ll help me out a TON. Lol. Wolf army FTW!
Tip: For the bees nests, craft a workbench. Use your crafting hammer to break down the structure that the bees nest is attached to. The nest will break down into its component parts of honey and a queen bee. You can do this from a distance and avoid the poison damage as well.
As for putting the beehives near each other, you can put them next to each other, I have a row of 4 to save space, and they still quickly produce 4 honey each. It may have been fixed from the date of the video, just giving additional information if anyone finds this video later, like I did.

You don't even need to take time to destroy the whole house -- just the bits that are supporting the top tip of the beehive. Like any building element, when it no longer has support, it will fall to the ground in its elements (in this case usually a queen bee and 1-2 honey). But if you don't get a queen bee this way? You probably did. Check the rafters and outside of the structure, and it's probably stuck on something. Just select it with E, or dismantle more of the building until it falls to the ground.

Easy solution - put up 2m poles 4m apart from each other. You can put hives on the sides of each pole. You can also put up a roof over them to prevent rain damage, but it also has to be 4m above them. Hives can also be attached to fences, right next to each other.
you can actually place them a tile apart from each other. what the beehives check is if the beehive is not within an enclosed space, they're not blocking each other, and the "hole" is facing towards the wilderness. ie : i made a "U" shaped arrangement of them and the bees are all happy.
The cape that comes from the plains cattle also gives protection vs freezing, that's even easier. Just grab a few stacks of semi decent arrows and ping them from a distance. You can melee them as their attacks are really slow as well but it gets messy if a mosquito comes along as well.
1:57 - you can place a crafting bench and delete the wall the beehive is on. Quick early way to get more wood when you only have 10 and perfectly safe way to get bee.

As far as I know, smaller mountains can have zero silver veins. I am really thinking of buying this game and one of the things I am looking at is a building tunnel with fires in it or several small buildings all in a row open on two ends with a fire in each and a gap between each building in case you can't make one massive tunnel.
the mountain biome is a massive time waster because its so hard to find, let alone summon the boss there. the fight itself is not really that hard at all too. you do however have to travel massive distances (usually) to collect the stupid eggs that weigh about a ton each and cannot be teleported. then you have to find the stupid boss which can only spawn in the middle ring of the world (which means its going to be very far from where you start no matter what). just seartch for like 40-50 silver per player. only use silver to craft the wolf cape and save the rest for later on as youll need it for other stuff. use iron gear to kill the boss its more than enough, silver wont make a big difference in your damage output. i do suggest making obsidion arrows as they are probably the best in the game. theyre not the most powerful but its just too easy to get the in large quantities and theyre not weak at all. from the moment you get to the swamp until you get out of the mountain the game pretty much sucks. you have to farm as insane amount of materials in extremley hostile places. do keep playing though because the plains, and now the mistlands are a lot more fun.
Tip for beehives. They don't have to be that far apart. Just put a beam hanging out of the wall and place the bee hives on top of the beams. A couple inches between each and you're good.
I've discovered how to teleport ore from anywhere in the world without portals and to never lose any of your gear again: 1. gather supplies, create a new world and build a base right at the spawn with a chest 2. create a new character, log into your new world and park them right in front of the chest 3. log out, log into your main world as your new character then send them to your main base and park them in front of the chest you want to be your drop box. Now you never have to transport ore ever again, whatsoever. you can be in the bottom of a sunken crypt, at 450 weight and half mined, and magically unload whatever you want into your drop box at home, simply by logging out, logging into your second world and dropping things off in the dropbox. You can even have a workbench and forge ready to repair your gear. If you're quick enough, you can also prevent yourself from ever losing anything ever again. by just logging out and back into your backup world and dropping your shit off. If I'm the first one to figure this out, feel free to make a video about it and you're welcome!
Easier way to drop beehives: Craft a workbench and disassemble the wall it's connected to. It'll break and drop, and you get the resources from the wall.
You can destruct the houses. Just place down a workbench and have your hammer in hand. When doing so the beehive will fall to the ground and die without shooting a single arrow.
fyi tip: silver is not found in every mountain biome. so far we've gone to 2 straight mountain biomes that ONLY had wolves, so 1 out of 3 had silver where our wishbone started making that sound. Great guide
If you are brave enough, you can skip all this and kill lox to make a lox cape, which grants the frost resistance as well. They are so lumpy, so I just took an atgeir and hunted them for their pelts. I think for more experienced players, this is the way to go.
Man this game looks awesome they need to get it on console asap they did it with ark and atlas
That might happen once it's properly released. Even then, it could take a year or more.
Thanks a lot
Tip: use a Spear for the Bee nests. (Trow it) Wuff
If you cant obtain the wolf head trophy, BUT can find plenty of silver, mine silver, and make the wolf armor chest piece , it also has frost resistance.
I literally had to kill 200 wolves before i was fortunate enough to get wolf trophy...
The intro is already perfect lol 😂
Great video. I'm actually struggling very hard with the wolves. Last night I got killed 8 times and it was so hard to get my gear back. The shield isn't very effective in my opinion. I get damage even when I block and then my stamina also is gone. Any tips?
Thank you for guide
It's like the airbag in you car popping 5 min after the accident.LMAO
i have all the ingredients for the mead base but the recipes just arent on my cauldron, i have sausages and soups but no mead bases and idk what to do
i recommend spear, if you throw it at the bee hive, it will destroy it in one hit
Also, if you're overwhelmed, debugmode and push K :)
I'm sure that if a person feel the need to go to the mountain biome they already know all that, except how the freezing status work.
then you'd be wrong.
You forgot to show the glitch where you can loot the khajit caravans chest in the ground 👍

Drop a workbench down beside the hive and house then just dismantle the building. Free bee. No poison.
I just place a crating station outside the house and then use the hammer to break the wall it's connected to and it drops instantly
woof! Thank you!
