@@hende8445men and women sport should never mix, male refs to make games female ref to femal league, the main reason is that you need male on male in sport (and I don't mean that to sound gay) otherwise you don't get the most out of the players, I found it incredibly awkward playing with women and having women on the pitch

Australian football/soccer has an issue with rubbish refs. The red team (Western Sydney Wanderers) is having issues with bad refs now in the 23-24 season. This has been a long lasting problem.

@@pranjalsrivastava3343 He was onside when the ball was already crossing, it got deflected by a defender meaning that if he was offside it would still be onside since it's practically the opponent who give him the ball. Note: if you intentionally try to make your opponent deflect the ball it will not count, but in this case the defender tried to clear it but end up giving it to the attacker.

My god... not only was the guy behind the ball, he was behind two outfield players on the other team. In other words, there are three ways that he wasn't offside.

@@theodordimov6518 If she was signalling the guy who passed the ball, that's even worse. At the start of the video we can see the red team's half of the field and the passer isn't in it. There are only 3 defenders in it.

I know this comment was 3 years ago, but "backwards pass" is not a reason. I don't know why people believe this myth, but you have always been able to be offside from a backwards pass. The direction the ball is passed (forwards, sideways, backwards) doesn't effect offside - only the position of the players.

@@Volanne No, it isn't "obviously the case", because there have been multiple cases of offsides given when a ball has been played backwards.
The direction the ball is moving is completely irrelevant when judging offside. The only thing that matters is the position of the recipient of the ball WHEN the ball is played (and of course other "interfering with play" circumstances but that doesn't matter here)
A pass can be played 10 yards backwards, if no one else touches it and the player receiving the ball was in an offside position when the ball was played, then it's still offside - regardless of which direction the ball is moving.
Yes it's a rarity, because the circumstances in which a player in an offside position would be receiving a backwards pass are few and far between, but it does happen, and it is offside. It happened a couple of seasons ago from a short corner involving Wolves - The corner taker passed the ball to a teammate a yard away, that player then rolled the ball backwards down the line in which the initial corner taker collected the lay off, but because they were stood on the corner flag when the lay off happened, they were still offside despite the ball travelling backwards.
It's an obscure circumstance that rarely happens, but it does still happen, because the direction of the ball does not matter - Only the position of the recipient the moment the ball is played.
Now, stop preaching the myth, because it is simply incorrect.

Some make these decisions and in their own head say wow I got this one wrong Dammit!! In this instance where it disallowed a goal is a tough one to swallow too. Other instances i've gotten a call wrong but never let my pride get in the way of correcting my decision before the restart. We are humans, but honestly at this level what was she thinking.

The guy who scored the goal was literally onside in every phase of the play - except maybe when the ball was played toward goal by a defender - which negates the offside rule - and even that possibility is questionable.

Whether or not the assistant raises the flag it is up to referee the to give it as an offside. The flag is raised to assist the referee. So yeah HE is the correct pronoun in this situation.

Not only he is behind the defender when the pass is made, but also the ball came off of the defender before the striker gained control of it.
He was behind 2 defenders and the ball when it was played but the fact that it hit a defender on the way wouldn't matter, the defender didn't take possession and play the ball so it would still be offside if he'd been offside when the pass was played
