    I was about to smash my old machine with a hammer like an idiot. I’m so happy I came across this tutorial! You just saved a 30+yr old home video of my grandmother and other deceased family members. This is the only recording I have of them. I can finally see them again. Thank you for the tutorial!!!

    I almost had to break it just to get it out. Good thing I found your tutorial. It worked perfectly. The tape that was saved had very sentimental memories. Thank you so much!!

    Thanks for this tutorial; it's great! I have a suggestion if you're having a hard time getting the spiral worm gear to turn. I used my needle-nosed pliers to turn the gear that the spiral worm is attached to. I didn't force it, but with a few firm turns I was able to get the carriage to rise. I found out that one side of the cart flap had come loose, which is probably why it wouldn't eject. Fortunately for me it was an old movie, so I didn't lose any personal treasures.
    On another note, I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one who still has videotapes. 🙂

    Thank you so much for the tutorial, if anyone is having issue with Samsung sv-a120m the gear you need to turn is a big white one below the cassette you'll need to put a little bit of force to turn it but it will unjam your vhs in no time.

    This was a very short, informative video. Thank you for posting! And the lettering was just fine LOL; ignore those tense people.
    Still, I couldn't access my white worm gear...most of it was under the stuck VHS tape. I saw an article "Removing a Stuck VHS Tape" on a site called tgrantphoto that showed how some VCRs let you unscrew them from the bottom, and you can turn the worm gear by rotating the shaft next to it and the motor with a 1/16" flathead. That might work for some of you.
    But not me!! I couldn't get the bottom off; there were no screws, except for the ones under the circuitry.
    So all I did was remove the stuck tape from the VHS by hand. Then I hit eject and saw some was still stuck. I maneuvered that off somehow, hit eject again, and FINALLY It's a Wonderful Life came out. My situation was basically like a paper jam with a printer. Once the jam was out, the VCR worked great!
    My apologies for the long comment, but jammed VCRs are so frustrating that I felt the need to post multiple solutions.

    Thank you sir! I watched three other videos before yours and was about to give up & throw a Multi-System world wide VCR that cost a fortune in the 90's away. I took a pause and looked how much a used one is 400 to 700 dollars & if you could find one new, they were outrageously priced, 1,000 + ! Thank God I found your video! My spiral arm is up & down and I could barely turn it with my pinky finger but it worked, it slowly backed the tape out. I think I'm just going to find somewhere and them service & clean it before I put any tape in it again thanks again!

  • @catalot
    @catalot 11 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thanks so much. I've had a VCR with a stuck tape a while--oddly enough, it was almost new when it ate the tape. I've debated taking it to a repair person, and with VCRs becoming more rare and expensive these days, I almost did. Now I am (very carefully) going to try to do it myself, given I am reasonably adept.
    Re: the print in the video--it might be best to reduce it in size and delete the ornate effects--relatively trivial, but it would make it a little better to watch. Again, thanks!

    Perfect and fast. I also had to give my tape a little tug where I saw it wouldn't raise up above a little pole on the right. Then it came right out. Must have been a safety feature. Thanks again!

    Thanks Leonard, besides the annoying words flying around the screen this method worked for me. Needed wind the worm gear down so the heads moved towards the tape then needed to wobble the tape to help enable the gear to move more so the tape would be ejected

    Thanks! I used it to get out a tape that wouldn't eject. Although the cog system had no spiral, it was easy to apply the method to mine. Slowly, the large wheel turned, the tape-housing rose and I took off the sticky tape and pushed out the offending casing. The tape was wrecked, but it was deliberately chosen as it had no value, particularly, in testing the old machine. The next tape was almost as dispensible, but it worked well. Now, just spitting TV interference remains!

  • @paulboyle8022
    @paulboyle8022 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very good. One thing that would help people turn the motor in the right direction is to watch the two pins that actually pull the tapr onto the heads. These will normally be stuck in the outward position holding the tape onto the heads. When you get the right direction the pind start moving towards the casstte tape and when they are level with the front of the cassette the cassette should come out

    Nice video. Unfortunately mine is not Samsung but I do see the spiral thingy in there and it does funny thing (wrapping tape around drum instead of ejecting the tape). So I ended up tearing my entire VCR apart and safely removed the tape. My VCR was about 10 year-old. It's time to go otherwise it will eat other tape even if I fix it.

    I have to fix my VCR player since it won't eject the tape and I think it may be the pulley belt which is small. If it is broken I will have to look for replacement parts if that is the case or the heads may need cleaning otherwise. Thanks for sharing this information.

      try spraying the area around the gear with WD 40, let it set about 20 minutes, wipe of the excess and try again, then maybe try moving it with needle nose pliers, it may need a little help to get it free, or tap it with a small hammer. If it works, pay it forward, send a small donation to Wounded Warrios, Thanks Good Luck
