    very cool tut. The only thing that was different is after baking I don't see the bake texture on the mushroom at 15:56, only the chekerboard. but I see the baked result in the image editor and it also work in the final render. it's like the viewport texture does not update... Is there anything to do to make the texture update n the viewport?

    Awesome video!
    Since baking can't really get any good results for moving objects/camera combined with glossy surfaces. Are render times still recognizibly reduced when only baking "good resulting" surfaces in the scene and rendering the glossy in any way?

    Hey Gleb, sorry to bother you but I'm trying to find out how to bake my textures in an animation I'm doing with animated character's & I can find nothing on youtube about how to do that except for those that only animate the camera not the subject of the bake. Is it possible to bake the textures of a full animation & if so what parts could I bake? I strive for realism because that's my preference, I'm also using the Manuel Bastioni Laboratory for the character's I'm trying to bake. I made a 120 frame animation of an elven woman doing a Matrix leapwhich has been rendering for the last 5 days on & off at 1 frame per hour. I'm poor so my computer is crap. I can't upgrade it because it's to old ( I don't even have a recognoizable gpu Geforce 210, hell I can't even run Blender 2.8) & I can't afford to get a better one as of now so this info would be a life saver to what I'm trying to accomplish. Thx in advance.

  • @MattJonesTech

    Hey Gleb, is it possible to bake lighting into procedural (not properly UV unwrapped) textures? Or does baking strictly require your models to be unwrapped? Thanks!

  • @TheThirdLieberkind
    @TheThirdLieberkind 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    just one thing gleb, you should probably have packed UV islands when making the atlas for the mushrooms, and not unwrapped them all from new. it seems like you got some unwrapping distortion that you had fixed before texturing them

    Thank You! This video came at a perfect time! One question, if I'm using volumetric lighting for fog will I not be able to bake that into my scene? Also in longer animation scenes with characters moving, wouldn't the lighting change enough so that baking would be impractical? Thanks

    • @GlebAlexandrov
      @GlebAlexandrov  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I guess it's not possible to bake volumetric effects, as they can't be projected to a surface (and they are influenced by the camera position, and so on). For moving characters, baking can be used to some extent. For example, you can bake ambient occlusion, diffuse color, normal map, subsurface scattering or the complete pass but without the harsh shadows.
