    As a Southerner, this is absolutely fascinating. 😂. That a whole lake freezes over to the point you can walk out on it, drill holes in it, set up camp on it, and still somehow fish is amazing. I love anything outdoors and this is great

    I also have a minivan. A Pacifica though. I had every intention of folding the seats down and using it like a truck as much as possible BUT it's such a struggle to get the kids car seats back in I decided if I need a truck I'll just call my ol man to come over lol. I'll have a truck again in a few years. Minivan is here to stay my wife loves it and it took A LOT to convince her we needed it haha. I have always been a fan of vans for their comfort

      I dove for that fish too! Almost knocked my monitor over. 😜 Thanks for the video Zach!
      BTW, I've been drilling holes in the ice with a 6" hand auger head (with sharp blades) and an adaptor to fit into a cheap RYOBI P251 cordless drill. Last winter it cut through 23" of ice in under 10 seconds. Always starts the first time I squeeze the trigger, no problem.

    How did the house and insulation do at -30 with 70mph winds?? I imagine you may have found a few drafty spots.

    • @JoeandZachSurvival
      @JoeandZachSurvival  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      House did well. The new kitchen windows needed some insulation around the edges. I would like to add some insulation to the attic. It's around r-19 right now, and it would help if we brought that up to 49 or 60. But it's been good so far.

    Love your repair videos. You actually get the camera focused up in tight. Wish I was closer to your area. I've got all sorts of outboard boat motors (2 Cruise 'N Carry 1½ horse, 50 horse long shaft Johnson Sea Horse, and an old 50's 40 hp Mark 55 Mercury) and other tune ups and repairs I could use your coaching with. My latest project...my 70's Bradford 8hp 3 stage 26" snowblower broke down. It must have wanted this year off, too much of a sweet running beast to let it retire though. The friction wheel's hub (aluminum), it's driveshaft and keyway and key are worn and tore completely out. Don't have much hope of finding replacement parts. Will have to do machining repair. Wish I could send a pic to your email. I'm a "never FaceBooker" but might be able to have someone send you my email.

    • @yadabotbingo
      @yadabotbingo ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jamessandman3708 just dug into the friction wheel on the old Bradford. Thought there was a sleeve insert that had the keyway, it could be removed. It appears to be part of the aluminum casting now that I've mucked 'er up good. Have to find a machine shop, good ol' tool and die guy. Know of any in the Mpls metro area?

    No offence, but your Dad doesn't seem to take the time or care to do the preventative maintenance on any of his tools, toys, vehicles, etc. Good thing he has you to do all of this for him. He seems to just buy all of these things, use them, abuse them and then park them somewhere (usually OUTSIDE in the elements) for the rest of time until he may need them it again sometime. He doesn't understand (or maybe care) why these things don't work. You, on the other hand appreciate how important it is to drain the fluid(s) in machine(s) before storing them to preserve their life. Also, performing preventative maintenance to prolong the life of any of your machines (vehicles, toys, tool type machines, etc.). I was sorry to see you toss that Northern back into the lake, that would have made for an excellent meal! I miss the Co-ho salmon that were caught out in Lake Michigan (we're in Florida now). Those fish were so awesome baked with just lemon and onion. What a beautiful meal. Enjoy your fishing, camping, hunting and just recreational times up in God's Country. Happy & Healthy New Year to you & your Family! God Bless!

    • @JoeandZachSurvival
      @JoeandZachSurvival  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      My wife's car was broken into once, and they stole her cds. I don't think battery augers were so popular 10 years ago. Regardless, augers are expensive and when we bought our first house we were very poor. We didn't have money to replace the auger if it was stolen.
