I actually have the smaller Magellan bait box. I bout the dual battery/12v bubble box from Academy for 14 dollars and bought the 6” air stone from Pet Smart for 10 or 12 dollars and I use ice cubes to regulate the water temperature

That is like a heavy duty corner filter similar to a sponge filter. Good idea! The Magellan bait containers are great. I prefer those to Engel

Thank you so much! Here is a link to an improved setup that circulates 70 gallons per hour and has a catch filter on the output side.

You should look into a sponge filter to put on the bottom of your pvc look it up

Thank you so much. Here is my solution that captures the scales without slowing down the flow of the water. It gives a 70 gallon per hour flow rate. Works great.

I bought some Topfin water conditioner from Pet Smart for a few bucks and it has a measuring cup for the cap and takes very little per gallon
I never thought of using rock salt though.
I’m still trying to figure out what causes the water to lift out of the top of the PVC 90?

The volume of the water in the PVC pipe becomes less dense with the introduction/saturation of the bubbles. It's effective to raise the water a few inches. Same principle as an aquarium airlift filter. Here is my link to an improved version:
