- An artistic woodturning project with techniques accessible to beginners who already know how to use woodworking machines.
To make this piece I use sipo, ash and elm cut into thin square rods, the glues are made of blue tinted epoxy resin and cyanoacrylate.
The finish is made with carnauba wax.

...sometimes I feel you get more enjoyment in all the prep work than in the actual turning...but I'm guessing your favorite part is applying the final finish...😉

I would say that one does not go without the other.. you have to make a precise preparation to obtain a good result when turning on wood.. and if you have worked well the part is revealed with the finish

Stunning! Can I ask you about your finishing steps? In the video, it looks like you dry sand up to what I assume is a pretty high grit. Then you use a polishing paste and finish with that gloss wax? Is that all? It seems so simple, yet the finish looks like glass! It's amazing

the only thing I don't show is the sanding time with each different grain...and it can be very long...depending on the quality of the finish you want

Love the way the sipo looks whilst looking down into the bowl. That beautiful brown contrasted by the resin is like looking at the sky through a grove of old growth trees. I am sorry, but to be honest this is not a favorite piece. Reading other comments I understand why. We have come to expect a certain precise look but the randomness is throwing me off. I commend you for doing what is in your minds eye. Not everybody will love everything. Thanks, Morgan, please enjoy your weekend!
