    This is a remarkable series. Yes, I too would love to see the conclusion. With all the Brit expressions aside does America have such strong actresses that can pull off talking heads? Thanks for posting what you have. Bed Among, Spanish Garden and No Importance are my faves.

      My favorite is "A Lady of Letters". Perhaps the only Talking Heads drama with a joyous transformation and a deeply touching ending.

    What a gem. This reminds me of a US woman who worked nights & had no idea her partner was a serial killer. She was rather sweet but very naive tho not as damaged as the character here. .

      She reminds me of the British woman Sonia Sutcliffe, wife of the Yorshire Ripper.

      @@tonymcneil978 wasn't she schizophrenic ? Or some other serious mental health issues I think.

      I’m convinced this character is deliberately based on Sonia sutcliffe ! Only that monster wasnt allowed to get away with it

    I love how it underplays when she talks about the domestic violence

    I really want to see the last parts but I do know what happened generally- however it is much more interesting to see it acted and spoken.

    I feel kind of bad about not having thanked you before for all your Talking Heads uploads to leave a comment now but.. where did part 3 go? I could swear I just watched before NY's eve (or on NY's eve actually). Anyway, thanks for the uploads and I hope Penelope Wilton & Stephanie Cole's segments are safe and the more recent ones particularly A Chip in The Sugar I had lost hope of ever seeing it here. I notice the ones with Patricia Routledge kind of come and go and Julie Walters' from the first series kind of went and has yet to come back. It could be copyright issues but they have had the one starring Maggie Smith for years now. Shutting up now.

    Was her saying she was a school teacher an excuse to cover up her husbands sexual abuse of her

    • @sematalba
      @sematalba 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      No. The reason she was a school teacher was due to the Yorkshire Ripper's wife being in fact a school teacher. This monologue has little details which mirror the Ripper case.

    All Alan Bennett’s characters talk in exactly the same way.

      He's Northern, you write what you know: it gives your characters & story authenticity.

    • @dean9235
      @dean9235 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Northern speech has a rhythm that alan bennett captures superbly. And the wonderful observations he brings to the text.

      If you think that you’re not listening hard enough. They all talk with northern accents and dialects, but the killer’s controlling wife in The Outside Dog is extremely distinct in voice from, say, the lonely housewife in Nights in the Gardens of Spain.
