- Julie Walters monologue as Mrs Murray - the character she played in Alan Bleasdale's 1991 drama "GBH". She is the mother of corrupt Militant Labour politician Michael Murray. The sketch was written for Walters by Bleasdale for the one-off television special "Julie Walters and Friends"
Pathos at its best - Humorous, witty, truthful and sad, but above all - entertaining and thought provoking. Alan Bleasedale's writing and Julie Walter's delivery are just brilliant
I love this clip, classic british acting at its best.. makes me laugh and so true about getting old....
She is absolutely phenomenal!
This is an excellent irish accent !!
Based on her Irish grandmother.
"That silly old sod J.M. Barrie" only matched by "Peter Pratting Pan"! 😄
Very few people can do Irish accents....fantastic!
Her Mum was Irish

Best Irish accent I’ve heard and who hasn’t had an Irish mother like that but she missed a few references to God and a “Jesus, Mary and Joseph” to make it more authentic =)
Accent is perfect and very few can do a convincing Irish accent - great actress
Her mother was Irish.
"very few can do a convincing Irish accent"
The Irish do a decent enough job.
Love her!!
Without a trace of bias, lol,I have to say,we Brits DO create some fecking wonderful characters/dramas! Alan Bleasedale is a genius & JW brought her own unique take on Mrs Murray! "Peter-pratting-Pan" hahahahahahahahaha!
One of my grannies in Australia was like this she outlived 3 husbands
and wrote a very funny book about it in her 90's
Absolutely fantastic. 5:29 haha gets me everytime.
