Some time back I had a similar problem with the Jag rear suspension on a 29 model A tudor. I dealt with the people at Aldan Shocks, and I can't say enough good about them, They were great, I told them my problem, gave them specs and sent them my old Aldan Coil overs, they sent me the shocks I needed which were right on and rebuilt my old shocks to boot and reasonably priced. I would recommend them highly and they will be my first go-to should I ever have another problem.
I'm running almost the same set up street legal in CA. (Irs rear engine) same aluminum front beam. Not matter what I did with shocks, steering, alignment, ride height.. Nothing worked. Moved battery to the front ran, closed the front with a steel plate from underneath... Nothing.. Still wanders at high speeds And the key.. Lowered FRONT tire pressure to 20 psi.. Night and day difference. The vw front end originally is steel and the car is significantly heavier with gas tank, body etc.. We're running practically no weight in the front on a lighter beam...drives straight at high speeds, smooth ride and turns like a dream.
Casey says his buggy or King Zero are insane while I dream of building a functional garden shed on top of a car chassis and turn it into the fastest shed round the Nordschleife to give the middle finger to all those supercar manufacturers that make more 1 offs than regular models.
Love the sand rail. i just finished building one for my daughter and I to run around town in on the weekends. My frame is the same production frame as yours, ECSR (East Coast Sand Rail) which I have modified from it's original factory production like yours has been. i lowered my ride height to about half what yours sets at which made all the difference in the world with handling, along with QA1 coil overs all the way around. Great fun. I hope you get equal enjoyment from yours as we do ours. Look forward to future videos on yours.
Nice and clean buggy but I would ditch the swingaxle and go IRS. Honestly a waste of time trying to get the most out of a swingaxle when IRS 300% BETTER
Excellent,I've a street rail also swing axle ,I've installed customair ride in rear,my problem is i neef a shock that I can adjust damping compression and rebound, would like to still use lower mounts uppers I can customize, haven't looked really hard,is this something kw could handle?I've conciderd auto cross also, have a track close.this rail is powered with a Porsche 914 engine runs well. Nice ride! Great show
Hey Casey, I have a 69vw sandrail as was wondering what your opinion is of the rear torsion bar suspension on them, and if I where to replace it what your recommendation would be! Thank you for inspiring me with everything you do and I hope we can meet some day!
I have the exact same buggy frame rims size of the tires front and rear!! quick question Screw to screw on the back It’s 14 inch I want to order new coil over, what size do I get the same 14 inch or do I go higher and what weight shocks do I order? Thanks in advance.
Hey kinda funny, I just bought a buggy nearly identical to yours. First was wondering how much it weighs. + or - now I know. I found this hoping for some short cut to a better ride quality and more efficient use of the travel. How can I get a clone of your shocks? The new one's.
Sure you already know this but just in case, the swing axel design has a fatal flaw of widely migrating role center which can lead to jacking in hard corners. Earlier cars sort-of got away with it because the tire were not very good, but modern sticky tires will cause all sorts of unwanted driving dynamics. Best of luck with your project
I can never get enough of the shot over at 0:27. This car will look bonkers. And if that's the kind of stuff that stems from Casey's mid life crysis..shiet, what's going to come after :))
Hey Casey, I wanted to get into building a dune buggy/ sand rail thing to have fun with. I have a hayabusa engine and transmission, do you have any advice
Where's the mr2 i haven't seen it for a while i have always regretted selling mine with i could afford one as in Canada they are starting to get expensive
CASEY!!! How would one go about having KW make suspension for your car? I have a very niche car that no one make anything for but I want to have fun in. Also love the videos!
@@jameshaulenbeek5931 I really don't mind someone calling a strut a shock, usually that's an honest mistake because most people don't know what a Macpherson strut actually does. I would be slightly disturbed the other way around but I have never heard that mistake.
"My entire life is a crisis" i lol'ed at that. I totally identify with that phrase!
I hope you get to work with Chris Marion, he's a class act! KW and ST are top notch for sure...

great episode! Do you intend to replace torsion bar front suspension with coilers? This is the one thing that was not clear to me....

Casey is my favorite teacher😂
That buggy has a cool stance.
Casey,
I have a similar frame, where did you get your rear trailing arms?
Maybe even a complete list of your rear arms, axles, disk brake set up...

Nice ride! Great show
Just bought one a couple months ago. Pretty cool machines
Sad to not see more of the sand rail vids
awsome rail Casey, was wondering what ky did for ya, i didnt see a follow up vid. they give ya gas adjust or a custom made something.
This got plopped in my favorites playlist.
I hope that’s good?
@@CaseyPutsch I’m planning suspension work to both my cars in the next couple years! It went in “favorites,” not “cringe collection.”

Glad to see that KW setup ;-)

Power to weight ratio makes this a fun car/buggy
Can't wait to see you enjoying this .
Fun fun fun

Martini decals look good on the 944, love your work.
Hello Casey, I honestly have a twin to your buggy and was curious what tires you have on yours in this video and the sizes
Great timing. I'm getting to this point in my GSX-R 750 powered mini buggy.
Great learning from u as a 14 year old enthusiast than you so much
Hey casey I was wondering what kind of short throw shifter you got for your 944? I'm looking for one for my 944 and I was wondering what you had
So where is the rest of this shock fabrication for your KW suspension on the sandrail ?
Hey casey could you make a Video about how to not total a high horsepower car ? Greetings from Germany
BioKomet great idea, yes I will. Vielen Danke
@@CaseyPutsch thanks a lot i appreciate it !
I have KW V3s for my 968, the quality is outstanding (if the instructions could be a little better...)
Does the weight front/rear have any significant relationship with the contact patch area, again front/rear?
Yup!
What tire sizes are you running front and rear?
Sick video man!!! Hope you do some body kit on it or leave it bear frame and put rally cars lights on it!
Casey. Check out Leno's latest. He does the Stratos, but it has photos of the Zero.

Hey Casey, could you do a video on track cars for beginners on a budget?
Great video as always.
Honestly been looking for a sand rail for a while

Damper or dampener :D Casey is too excited. Also on the rear, mount the shock much higher!
Where's the mr2 i haven't seen it for a while i have always regretted selling mine with i could afford one as in Canada they are starting to get expensive
What’s the length of the car
The plate made me realize you're in BG.
Very interesting.

Call up the US people with it. They can make shocks for anything!

What application?
@@allwheeler I just want some coilovers made for a 96’ mercury sable.
I want to make a new scooter with some of the same equipment but with a fith wheel
I hope I will be able to afford KW suspension some day LOL
lI am looking forward to when you do the 944,
Very soon! Shocks are on the way from Germany now.
Casey, Dampers dampen. Dampener is probably more messed up than adding extra letters to aluminum.
Just sayin'.
Even better when people use shock and strut interchangeably. 🤦♂️

@@joequixotic3039 i get that... i've sadly heard both - usually with shock being referred to as strut.
I never run shocks on the front of my buggy’s, adjusting the springs, is way better.
DOOM BUGGY!

Ay first
First!?
