The fact HMS replied with those words really shows how dissociated these companies are from reality. They pretty much said "giving a bag of Reese's and a gift cup for someone who worked 30 years for us captures the essence of our company's values."

And never miss a day at that which shows you how they view the employees as nothing but numbers. Granted it's not the parent company's fault since this was given to him by his manager but their response shows how inept they are in terms of marketing their brand. They could have used this as an opportunity to show that their company values dedicated employees. How hard it is to come up with some sort of award recognizing his perfect attendance and commitment to serve their customers. They could have easily given this guy a paid vacation with his family to Disney world or something. Talk about dropping the ball and missing an opportunity at this viral moment.

Not for him or the manager but the CEO(s)!!!!!!! All that hard work and dedication to their company. They could've gave him a bonus, vacation, something! All his daughter wanted was plane tickets for him to see his family. That's not even 1% from the CEOs pockets. they might have been humans with empathy and compassion at some time in the past but after years of focusing on profits they slowly turned into heartless money hungry fools..
IMO, that’s no way to live.. Yes, money is important in order to survive but family, friends, and love are much more important and much more rewarding.. we humans are social creatures and we need other people. Otherwise we become extremely depressed and hopeless.. unless you’re a psychopath or you have some other condition that doesn’t allow you to feel emotion or care for others..

I must say that if I was an employer who had a faithful employee who stepped up to the plate, never complained, and worked every shift I requested for 27 years, a small souvenir bag with a cup and snacks wouldn't suffice. Perhaps a big bonus, a big raise, and/or a big promotion would be in order. I think the many people who donated money to Kevin see themselves in him. Soo much humility even after such an insult. HMS is huge, at least a vacation to Hawaii or something for his family. These are every day people just trying to make a living to support their families. It has me overcome with tears but also anger. We are often taken advantage of by these very companies.
