- A fast food worker, who went viral after showing off the lackluster gift from his employer for 27 years of service, is now a homeowner thanks to the donations of people who were moved by his story.

You know your job thinks little of you. When the kindness of strangers overshadows the company you work for, while giving them absolute devotion
They must’ve spent $11 on that “thank you gift”. Maybe less. That’s un freaking believeable
It’s like this with family as well . Strangers help so many of us more than our narcissistic family . Corporations are run by narcissists
The guy seems like a great person but it’s unrealistic to expect an employer to do something like that for an employee.
Same with working for the government
@@SirenASMR_ don't rope my awesome family into you crappie one
He’s the real Burger King
Agreed 👑 👍
the king of kings
My man
Nope. He's king burger.
He got himself his own castle!
Glad he spent his donations wisely.
This is the part I’m most thankful about / happy to see. So many people would have done differently, and put themselves right back to the bottom.
Yeah man. I woulda also went to a trade school or got a degree..well he still can...i dont know his plans...aint my bidnes...lol.
Id say no. Terrible investment. Smart decision would of been to sit on that money. The moneys gone now and lets pray he can keep up with the mortgage
@BrianThaLion99 that house is probably paid off , all he have to is pay properly taxes and utilities . Also that house is probably under $200,000
@@scorpio95dolls35 Working at Burger King for 27 years, this man has never seen 450k, 45k or even 4.5k at one time in his life. I think this was an impulsive and emotional decision.... I mean its his money to spend. But I think it was foolish. Dude basically took his money and bought debt. Plus around where I live even a shack damn hear 350k.
Wow a bag of candy worth less than $5 dollars including the bag itself for 27 years of service without calling out, meanwhile the CEO and executives are giving themselves 6 figure bonuses multiple times a year. Disgusting
*7 figures you mean. BK is in almost every city and town on the planet in 190 countries.
@@lars2894 Different countries are usually owned by different corporations. For instance I wanted to complain about 7/11 then I realized it's not at all connected to the brand in the US.
@@CyberMachine Don't franchisees have to pay yearly loyalty / licensing fees to franchisers? I'm sure they get at least a portion of international profits. Correct me if I'm wrong tho
Free trips back to Africa
You guys wanted capitalism lol. This is a result of it, employers getting all the profits and barely sharing with employees.
The fact that he was not upset at the long service present shows how grounded & what a decent man he is! The fact that so many people believed he deserved more & donated to him days alot about them! Well done everybody..
@@Joglass44don't act entitled. You don't know his situation or how hard it is out here. Dude can't risk another job if he relies on his to pay rent and shit. Definitely no money for classes working at BK. Plus he had children. Not every city is brimming with oppurtunity. At least this guy was working.
@@Joglass44 No ambition?? How about, that he has tons of work ethic?
I would love to see the Burger King CEOs and executives work in his shoes in the cashier position. Many white-collar workers dont know what it’s like to be on the front lines busting their guts out to make others happy.
Nawh... It showed that he got workers mentally😅😅😅
Can't drive for MORE
Kevin most likely couldn’t afford to take sick days from work.
God bless you Kevin.
Or he's just a great worker that's reliable
@@successfullym3 Humans get sick, capitalist drone.
This is the reality of life for most people - if you work hard all your life, you don't get rich, but your boss does. You may get a bag on candies instead
Scarry but I totally agree!!! The boss likely pays a price but they also get benefits out of it the employees will likely never get!!
Because the boss has more responsibilities than the lower employees
@@flyingjew2994 Yeah that is true but the bosses also own a cash generating asset. So no it is not the case those who don't own also don't get the benefit either.
@@flyingjew2994 Remember this line when your boss rejects your pay raise.
@@flyingjew2994 sure, boss should get more benefit, but not ALL the benefit.
Think about it... if he sold 200 burgers a day for 260 days of the year, with the company making $500 profit per day from his work alone, he has made the company approx. 3.5 million of the last 27 years. They should give people like him a big bonus every 10 years. Plus they save money on not having a high turnover rate and training new employees.
Companies also make money with turnover rate. The company I worked for was known to prefer hiring brand new people and finding excuses to let go of veteran employees because they don't have to keep raising the veteran employee wages but profit more by paying someone with the starting minimum wage. A lot of companies do that.
true, just goes to show how scummy they are.@@Runner8617
Sounds like in 27 years they likely paid him at least 500K in income while making 7 times that amount. But real I don't think anyone who owns is not trying to do similar..... Sounds like owning is a good deal when only 1/5 goes to employees incomes!!!!
@@Runner8617 Yup. This is why some of the experienced employees don't want to train the new guy. 😂😂
@@donaldlyons17precisely. You just described what should be everyones mail goal in a capitalist society. We could have a world where everyone owns a niche business, instead we live in a world where corporations are enabled to monopolize markets and pay workers slave wages. We need our government to bolster small businesses instead of making sure large corporations can never fail.
Thank you ABC7 for some good news. That brightened my day. ❤
Facts 💯 a feel good story
Amen! 🙏🏽
They should do a story about how they shamed tens of millions of people into taking a dangerous, untested vax.
This is why when people say " this generation doesn't want to work anymore"… yeah we don't want to work for a company for a great part of our life only to be thought so little of were someone like this individual works 30 years for a company and perfect attendance to be given candy, a mug, and thank you card
God bless the people who donated to him …
Burger King should be ashamed
They're now jealous!
I think it is the BK franchisee who is the POS in this story.
Right because McDonald's would've done better? It's modern day corporate America. To them you're just an expendable tool, nothing more
That gift bag after 27 years of perfect attendance is a joke and an insult. He's a grown man not some little kid. I'm glad he won in the end
They’re Not, trust me.
I'm so happy for this hard-working man!!! What BK did to him after 27 yrs of uninterrupted service, what they did to him was disturbingly unappreciative. Enjoy the rest of your life in your new home.
He was employed by HMSHost....who owned the Burger King franchise. HMSHost is a awful company to work for.
Yes that's terrible and unappreciative..i feel so bad for him
That’s how hard work is appreciated by big companies. Thanks to the donors, who showed more love for him than the BK people 🎉
Wonderful, thanks to everyone who got involved to make it happen.
For being such a good worker he deserves it ,wish him,his family luck
The fact he was grateful for his "gift" says everything you need to know about this man. God bless you, Kevin!! ❤
That’s a wonderful story and blessing!! God bless!
Wonderful news. He's a dedicated working man and most of all, he's a family man.
Amazing! So happy for this man!
I’m baffled 😯…. 27 years, and without calling off 1 day. He is being taken advantage of by bk. At least his immediate supervisor thought he deserved something, and probably bought it out of his/her own money.
He deserves 10 times that for his dedication to a thankless job. Hes is the definition of pride and dedication.
Salute to you sir.
no he doesn't. 50k is enough. He's not out curing terminal disease or inventing cell phones. He's just flipping burgers and there are thousands of people working 30 years with perfect attendance and they dont get free donations. There's not even real evidence he never missed a day. Could be coluded and fabricated between him and the manager. Like that one girl who went to jail cuz she faked getting $20 from a homeless man just to scam those gofund me donations. The girl and homeless man both schemed up the fake sob story.
The fact the guy was actually grateful and honoured when posting his videos shows how humble and loyal this gentleman is. How a truly amazing person he is.
THANK GOD! I was hoping this man would get some love. Loyalty needs to be awarded it’s not common
What a heartwarming story, thank you for sharing. I loved it so happy for him and his family.
I will never eat at BK again.
Disgusting, what they didn't do for this man.
Thank God for good people.❤
every fast food place, big box store, any corporate buisness has done this to their employees, its not a BK problem, its a problem with corporate "culture" overall
But they gave this good man a job. If nobody eats there, he loses his job.
A little excessive. Now do that with every other fast food giant. Also do that for any large grocery store or gas station or electrical company or etc etc.
@alongyourpath I never really ate there to begin with. I think their food is gross, so it's actually not a problem for me. Plus, I don't really eat out anywhere, and I don't have car. Lol
Imagine not knowing that BK had nothing to do w/ this and that BK has what are called "franchisees". Look it up.
27yrs deserves a pension.
🎯💯
A blessing. A truly grateful person no matter there jobs. Or status quo. Just grateful and God blessed him.
WOW
GOD BLESS ALL THIS PEOPLE THAT HELP THIS WONDERFUL SOUL, NO MORE BURGER KING FOR ME.
BK didn't do anything wrong, nor did the franchise owner. Be less dramatic.
It's heartwarming that so many people chose to honor this man's many years of hard work with their generous donations. It's also wonderful that Kevin has chosen to purchase a home with the money. It's nice to hear about the goodness in people for a change!
It's very sad that in the United States of America people have to rely on the kindness of strangers in order to live comfortably despite working hard. I wish him and his family well.
It just shows you how kind people can be to a stranger and help him out.
It's not kindness, it's a handout.
Something this burger king worker and daughter shouldn't have pressured people into.
Why setup a go fundme.
She didn't need it, nor did the dad.
The dad is lucky enough to have have a fuckin job.
And the daughter looks to be doing fine.
Has a car, has clothes, what more do you want.
Bet the dad has so little money, since the daughter has this entitled mentality.
@@Prof.Pwnalot Shame on you. That is what you deserve!
thats really how it goes all around the world
@@Prof.Pwnalot ok boomer
The media needs to start sharing more inspiring, uplifting stories like this instead of negative, pessimistic, cynical ones. More people would tune in and appreciate the news
CORRECT.
Nice! So happy to see that not only was generosity poured on him by so many beautiful people, but he is so grateful and humble about it all. Congratulations to him on buying his home!
I remember that, I was also like what? That's it? But man what a beautiful gift from all the public. He deserved it. And looks like a swell dad , and loved by his children. 💯✌️
This is great!❤
It's also a testament as to why we need the younger generations... sometimes they see the injustice in things we just thought were normal
Very glad his daughter was looking out for him also ❤
What an awesome story!
That guy deserves every penny raised for him. Burger King should have showed more effort after so many years of service.
Here is a guy who simply gets it good for him
Great story! Excellent job Kevin!
That man deserves it! He deserves retirement pay. Enjoy your life and family sir! This is the america I love to see. This is a United moment. 🇺🇸
If more news channels did cool shorts like this one the world would be a happier place for a few minutes. Watched it from Hawaii with morning coffee after watching a wierd short on the tunnels under the Synagogue 😂😂😂
Good for him 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
BURGER KING MADE 1.9 BILLION DOLLARS IN 2022 AND THIS IS HOW THEY TREAT THEIR EMPLOYEES . DANIEL SCWARTZ CEO MAKES $236,000 a year
Wow much respect...strong work ethic. Doesn't matter what you do for work in life, when a man says to another man "take time off to spend with your family" that hits deep.
God bless you Kevin!!!This is absolutely beautiful.
Burger King needs to throw those gift bags in the trash and have more respect for their loyal and hard working employees. At least give employees a bonus check and a paid day off
Love how his story ended but yall better call off work! These jobs don’t care about you.
Outstanding, he truly seems like a great guy and good father .. thanks for sharing story
Thats dedication, glad to hear there are still good people with a good heart out there. Truly beautiful.
Im happy for Kevin i wont go to burger king afterr this
I haven't been to one in over a year.
What a beautiful update. LORD, thank You so much for honoring and blessing this humble and faithful man of integrity so bountifully and openly. May all of his days be tremendously blessed. AMEN and AMEN
Amen ❤
Amen! Bless him!! ❤️Bless All those who donated❤️
I'm happy for this guy. Enjoy the home Kevin!
Nobody did that for that woman who worked at McDonald's for 50 years
Was she White?
Both of her Hubbies worked at Mickey D's and she may have Done Well in the Divorce. 😏
*Faith in humanity restored*
You deserve it, sir 👏 🙏 . What's sweet is that your daughter was looking out for you.
Respect and love to you my brother.
The IRS is on him now.
There is hope, just don't expect it to come from Corporate America.
What a beautiful story Thank you for sharing.
Good to hear that good people are being blessed.
I remember this guy! Good for him. Sometimes the internet does good lol
Burger King now Burger Clowns 🤡 are a greedy company. 27 years and never called in, but you want to give him a goodie bag? Not even $100 gift card? Shame on them.
Thankful and grateful through it all. What a stand up guy.
Glad to see my people winning and making the right decisions!!! God bless EVERYONE involved..I truly love seeing stuff like this 🙌🏾
My father worked for the same company (factory worker, textile industry) for basically 39 years, never missed a single day outside of very rare medical-related appointments every now and then (but he would often at least work half his day anyways even after going to the doctor). To celebrate his 30th year of service, the company bought him a watch.
Need more context of the watch.
Watchs can costs anywhere between 10 USD and 100k+
@@NextNate03right,they didn’t specify the watch
But will he be able to afford his yearly property taxes off of a Burger King salary?? The system is designed so that low income peoples can’t own any property and are therefore subservient to rental property.
This. I doubt he can afford the taxes if he still working at BK.
Based on the size of the house, and it being in Nevada, it's likely far less than $450,000. And considering his story he'll probably get offered a lot of higher paying jobs
It looks like the home is somewhat modest so I’m guessing they saved the rest of the money for taxes as well as retirement. They seem like good people. I have known people that have gained similar windfalls and had it all blown in a couple of years.
It looked like a mobile home. It's also in Nevada so I'm sure he'll be fine. A person with his seniority probably has stable hours and a predictable paycheck.
He received $350K from the $464K Donations.
He paid $177K for his home, put away for Retirement and helped his Daughter.
Extremely humble man. He's not at all shading he's employer but he was grateful. Admirable character
Wow! What a blessing congratulations on your new home 😊
Well deserved good honest hard working man. 👍
This is who you should be donating too, not OF models.
SO AWESOME!! Congratulations!!
🎉🎉🎉 Enjoy your new house, you deserve it!! Glad you had the chance to see your daughter & granddaughters!!! Thanks to your daughter who got the ball rolling!❤
Absolutely appalling treating an employee like that. I haven’t eaten at BK in 25+ yrs and this video makes me feel happy about that.
Im extremely happy for him with that being said after 27 years of working for that company he should had been able to buy that house and still have 400 k in a ira or 401K tbh he should have had his own franchise it just shows these company's expect your loyalty but then don't give none in return
Happy to hear so many people showing their support for him, but saddened by BK’s lackluster celebration of his 27 years of service. I really hope he enjoys his new home but like you mentioned, hope he stashed some money into a retirement account/high yield savings account. He deserves to retire comfortably after raising his daughters and enjoy a happy retirement from BK.
This is even more reasons for me to not eat at Burger King😮😮
😆😆 I'm sorry. But I would love me a freaking whopper right now. 🤣🤣
No, cause y’all boycott and it will hurt All the employee’s. Less sales less hours.
I remember this story. He seems like such a nice man. Glad he got a home 🙏
This is amazing and heartwarming
Wonderful! Enjoy your retirement soon, my guy!
As wonderful as this is, someone who works 27 years without missing a day should be able to afford a house. The system is broken since hard-working, people can't earn enough to get into the housing market. Corporations make billions on the back of people like Kevin. Pay a living wage. ✌
So true!
I was thinking the same. I can’t believe more people aren’t commenting about this. They want us to see the happy part at the end and forget about the conditions of late stage capitalism and wage stagnation that caused this man to not be able to already afford a house in the first place.
In a culture where tiktokers are raking it in...
Thank goodness for him man, and seriously thats great
Love this sooo much!!! ❤❤❤
Let’s just not eat at Burger Clowns anymore. They don’t care about their workers.
Good for him.
That is such a heart warming story. I hope this man enjoys his new home.
Super super well deserved. Im glad hes got half a million for it. This man's gratitude goes a long way
Amazing work that dude deserves more from his employer Smfh
He had to pay $450,000 just to get a small trailer home? With all of it being donations?
No wonder the American Dream is dead. Corporate greed is destroying it.
Hypercapatalism. Make everything unaffordable and then kick everyone out. Own nothing be hsppy.
There are a million people just like this fine gentleman who will not feel the relief they need and deserve.
My faith in humanity is still in question.
Never seen a more deserving guy! 👍
Working for burger king is no doubt a thankless job. He deserves more, surely.
The fact that we have to CROWDFUND for our RETIREMENTS and a basic necessity,
like a house, is a sign the system has truly fallen apart.
Great choice of investment. Own something in your name.
What an amazing human being
He deserves it! Congratulations sir!❤
I went viral all I got was Covid

Good things happened to good people!! Not all people are blessed!
Sometimes...Only the good die young is an axiom too...
Tell that to the kids in the burn ward.
Imagine .27 yrs of any job and someone gives you a bag of Candy.. that is sad . But glad the people gave this hard working father what he deserves.
Heart touching
I read somewhere that he didn't get all of the moneg because Gofundme took over $100,000 of the donations. 😡
Yep, he stated he received $350K from the $454K Donated.
We all deserve more....while lazy politicians and rich executives live in luxury off of our hard work!
That’s a beautiful story and and great man
The David spade bit was random as hell but this is beautiful I remember hearing about it too
