    I am 75, live in U.K. where weather is not always good to go for a walk. So I purposefully walk around the house as if I am going for a walk outside.

    Great tips thank you. I’m over 70 but I walk at least five days a week for at least thirty minutes so will look to start adding some of these suggestions. Thank you

    Found this just as I walked in from Park Run (Park Walk for me). Perfect timing as am training to do Coastrek 20ks just before my 74th birthday, fundraising for the Heart Foundation. Love the practicality of your segments.

      Hi Carol, it's the same! Everything we say in this video still applies, whether you're 30, 50 or 90! (or any other age)!
      Age doesn't define what you can and cannot do. When it comes to exercise you should start at the level you can currently manage, and aim to build up gradually from there.

    I find concentrating to take bigger steps helps stretch my hips. I tend to walk like Tinkabell 🤭

    These tips to extend your exercise while walking are great. I already do some but now I have more ideas. I'm 74 and have been having hip problems. The walking keeps me going plus exercises eg to strengthen my hip flexors, hamstrings psosis muscles and some I do on the walk too. Like side leg raises, back leg raises, hamstring stretches on the bench seat. Thank 😊you for your excellent videos.

    Great video. Just what I needed. I walk daily and feel I’m not making any progress with my fitness. I used to run but was told not to run anymore because of my back problems (by my GP). I miss running so much. I’m also struggling to even start strength training that I need so much. This a is great way to combine the two and maybe start to feel fitter. I’m always puzzled by how many reps and sets to do and because I can’t figure it out I give up/lose interest. Do have any advice for starting off - number of reps would be good, never mind sets. 😅 Thanks very much for a super helpful video. 🙏

    Is jumping ok if you have osteoporosis in the spine and a protruding disc L4-5?

    • @arlenemorrison7382
      @arlenemorrison7382 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Im the same. Spinal canal stenosis. Cant walk much at all

    • @bemobilephysio
      @bemobilephysio  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Generally speaking, yes it is ok. In fact, jumping such as Ollie demonstrated in the video, is often part of bone density specific exercise programs. However, we cannot speak to your exact circumstance, it depends on your current activity levels, fitness levels, symptoms etc. If in doubt, it's best to get assessed by a physiotherapist or exercise physiologist first.

    • @bemobilephysio
      @bemobilephysio  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Arlene, if you can walk even a little bit, you can make a start. When it comes to exercise, we are all about doing what you can. If you can manage 2 minutes of walking each day, that's a start. Even with stenosis, you'll usually find that you can improve your walking capacity by working at it. Strength training (like the exercises in the video) will help you too. Good luck.
