I have all three of these calculators. The 2nd Edition Fx-991es Plus C (Canadian version) is all black like the Fx-991ex. Matches nicer. Also found doing an Integral 0,6 e^x^3 is about a second faster than the 2nd Edition. The ex smokes both of them! Still love my HP 48sx though! Use it, the 48gx & 50g. Don't have the Prime..... Yet.
@@scottcollins7513 as a teacher of statistics, I recommend the fx-115ES Plus. Thank you for reviewing this new 'edition', which I just discovered at Office Depot's website, searching for prices to communicate to students.
It is a mystery how they decide what to include/exclude on these models. Thanks for pointing this out to anyone taking a deep look into what these different tools offer.
They all do the same right? I don’t mind if one is slower but I need one for physics class. Are they all the same or do they have different ways of doing the same calculation?
The three calculators in the video are very similar in terms of how they function. There are slight differences, but they are subtle. Any of the 3 would be good for physics class. The speed difference is insignificant for any typical calculation you will do in physics. This video goes into more detail if you are curious: th-cam.com/video/6J_ehPTc0hw/w-d-xo.html

I am not sure about anything in the crazy world of calculators. There are too many variations of calculators made for different markets. If the website shows 403 function for one calculator and 257 for another, I think they are significantly different. Sorry I am not more help. Glad you are doing your research.

Just make sure that your 115ES Plus has the solver function (shifted function of CALC key), handles matrices/vectors, and has numeric integration and derivative. It should definitely have those if it is a USA fx-115ES Plus, but worth making sure. I think if it has those you will be fine with it.
Glad you found it helpful and appreciate you leaving a comment. I really like the fx-115ES -- I actually prefer it over the fx-991EX. Question I hope you can answer! I recently had to change one of the modes on my calculator and every since I've noticed a few different things that weren't like this before. When I go in to add a fraction, before it would let me put one number over another like a normal fraction would look like, but now it just gives me this weird backwards L shape. I've also noticed that when I go to add an exponent, it gives me the same symbol but with an arrow and parentheses, whereas it used to give me a dark box to insert my number in the exponent spot. These are small details that are really annoying to me because now I get less accurate answers and this is the calculator I use for my Algebra 2 class. I have no idea how to reverse it, so I'm hoping you do.
Two thoughts: (1) You accidentally went into complex mode. Click "MENU" button and type "1". This will put you in normal mode. (2) You changed the settings by accident. You want MathI/MathO setting -- explained in this video: th-cam.com/video/efPx9mx2Kh4/w-d-xo.html
If you have good/young eyes, the fx-991EX Classwiz would give you the most value and has a much faster processor. I think the fx-115ES PLUS 2nd edition is easier to read and slightly easier to use. Either of them will serve you well.

I'm guessing it might vary based on the country you live in, but mine was purchased in the USA and is made in Thailand -- always refreshing to see something other than "made in China".
You will want to press the "SETUP" (shift-"MODE") key (to the left of "ON"). Press "1" for MthIO. Then press "2" for "LineO". When you type 22/7 you will get 3.1412857143 rather than the fraction 22/7. To go back, press "1" for MthIO, then press "1" for "MathO".

Scott, nice find! I think the fx-115ES plus is an amazing bargain. I will have to start searching for the second edition.
