- This is my build of the great little Airfix Wildcat in 1/72 scale. It’s a wonderful, highly detailed kit and a pleasure to put together. It includes parts for a version with folded wings as well as extended wings which I think is a great addition to the model.
Regarding the video itself, this is my first attempt at filming most parts of the build. You will notice that some build steps are missing or are shown with still photos only. I apologize for that since I am still testing recording equipment and setup. Be assured that upcoming videos will be improved step by step!
I appreciate any Comments as well as Likes and Subscriptions to my channel. I consider myself an advanced beginner in the world of scale model building and I am doing my best to improve my skills and techniques. I will try to upload new build videos regularly, so stay tuned! Tremendous build. That lighter blue is the correct color, but hard to duplicate. You really did your homework for this project.
Thank you very much! Yes, it's a very subtle color, works great with the Light Gray underside and belly of the aircraft. I really like this paint scheme. Fortunately Vallejo offers the accurate paints in their Model Air range. 🙂 Thanks for watching!

Thank you! I’m actually breaking new ground with filming my builds and I‘m so glad you like it! In this video I still practiced a lot, but better equipment and improved picture quality are coming very soon! 🙂

The original pilot of that plane was Captain.John L Smith but when he left Guadalcanal Marion E Carl was assigned to Smiths old plane

Thank you John! It was in fact the first time I attached those wires to a model. The product I used (it’s called „Rig that thing“ Superfine by Uschi van der Rosten) is extremely elastic so I found it relatively easy to work with considering how ultra-thin it is. Fine work. It looked like you used matt black for the tires if that is the case may i suggest using NATO black or RLM 66 black gray for a more realistic appearance.

I highly recommend the Airfix 1/72 Wildcat, it's really a great little kit and I'm sure you will enjoy building it as much as I did! PS: Don't worry about your English, it's fine! I'm from Germany so it's not my native language either. :)
What paint did you use for the blue on top?
Vallejo line, he lists the color in the video.
What did you use for the Decals???
I can’t quite remember what I used on this build but I mostly use Tamiya Mark Fit (Strong) to soften the decals where needed and help them conform to panel lines, around edges and so on. I think I didn’t use much softener on this build because as far as I recall the decals were quite nice and thin.
