What I have noticed is that he keeps a very clean truck, and takes care of his equipment at all times. by doing this he gives a better service to his clients and causes even less addental damage. He points out to the customer and to the police and CHP that He can clear the roadway very fast while giving the best service to them all. It is no wonder that Pepe's keeps growing each year.

Good point and it's something I personally wish others did as well. Having the right tool or strap easily accessible and always available is key. Dirty trucks are a no-no over here

I can't believe those guys didn't secure their load. Straps and/or empty pallets down the middle on edge for dunnage is the way to go. Maybe they are new, but what an expensive learning experience. Good job taking care of them and getting them on their way, Alex.

I saw one strap that looked like it popped ... but yeah, in general nothing keeping those pallets from sliding around.
That truck was one hard turn away from being an uprighting video.

Josh, you must feel fortunate to have Alex as an employee. Not only is he a very skilled operator of Big Flipper, but he is also a good videographer as well as narrator of his work. It takes some pressure off you to provide all the raw content although you probably do all the editing yourself. I Googled "mat jack" to see if they had a pressure relief valve to prevent over-inflation and rupture. I was surprised to see how expense they are. I then went to "bailey's towing" to see that the synthetic slings are also quite expensive. I didn't price chains, but I'm sure they're pricey also. I'll bet the cost of outfitting your rigs adds a large cost to the truck itself.

Once you'd got inside it seemed pretty clear they'd loaded the truck with a lot more weight on the right, even before the load shift. The right pallets were taller and more of them. I'm guessing that gave them a small lean and encouraged the plastic pallets to slide. Every bump and road camber would have pitched the truck slightly right and each mm slid would add to it.
I thought you were pretty brave planning to lift it from that step! The built in lift also made chaining from the frame nearly impossible. I was worried you were going to bend something expensive.
Lucky really that the pallets themselves were so well built and it wasn't now loose material all over the place.

Love your job man!! I did it a while back but like 10% of your scale... all my calls were scheduled A to B.... never chased on the hwy, we didnt have contracts with anyone....
At first, I thought you would be using spreader bar...(I never had those... booo..... never had a rotator so theyd be useless anyways) as soon as you were latching onto the lifting tailgate at the back, I was saying "oh
..no... dude those are TACK WELDED on.... don't!!
You handed the driver (who I think is smart guy! Who might have slightly lower tow bill, and no insurance hangover for next 5 yrs
Haha also whole way thru, I was thinking.... IF I worked there, Id have a case of straps in passenger floor to sell to this guy. And you DID ask them...
If I was pink tom... id go to lumber yard and buy impact driver... 100-3" screws and about 120ft of 2x4 and block that load... this SMART driver who ERR'D ON SIDE OF CAUTION, avoided waiting on the curb, while Pepe's turns his turn back on the rubber side from the shiney side !!

I used to watch a guy who run a freight hauling business. Often he would back in to the loading dock, be loaded, the doors shut and sealed, without even seeing the load or how it was loaded. Few companies used any strapping. This guy was also certified for liquids, so I guess he had a good handle on the feel of the load, but if I was driving the truck (unlikely I know) I would want to know the chances of the load moving.

At the 19:00 minute mark you can finally see what the problem is. The load was placed incorrectly. The way I dealt with loads like this is to alternate pallet offset. So for example first two pallets both positioned to the right and next to each other. Then the second set of pallets positioned left and next to each other. You alternate each row like this. when they are tightly placed the friction of the plastic wrap keeps them from moving unless you have a bad or aggressive driver who is moving the truck too violently from side to side.
You never want to leave a big gap down the middle like this load was. Load management and good driving would have save this company a lot of time and money. Also, those plastic pallets are more prone to sliding in the first place, so all the more reason not to leave a big gap down the middle of the box. You could even go further by using empty pallets on the sides by standing them on edge but it really should not be necessary.

I used to have transit buses towed to the scrap yard 20 years back in sacramento. The local tow service charged a reasonable $300 for a three axle for 2.5 hours. It was amazing how little I thought it was. But it was completely flexible non critical and they were trying to keep the truck busy. I can imagine Pepe's has the same attitude. Take care of your regular fleet accounts on these types of jobs for a reasonable price and you will be as busy as you want to be.

The problem was the truck was loaded wrong. You take 2 pallets, put them on the right side. Next two palace if i'm on the left side

My wife was bored and looked it up. Those specific pallets weigh 1800lbs apiece. The vendor typically does half pallets for this reason.
Tare weight on that truck is 12400lbs so they weren't over weight.
Target says keep the basket. XD
