I know what you mean. There was so much excitement from the new guys coming into the sport like Stewart and Dale Jr. and Kenseth, but the old guard of Earnhardt, Jarrett, Labonte, Gordon, Elliot, Rudd, Wallace and Martin were still very relevant. This was also the last season before Fox and NBC took over with their huge new contracts. In 2001, everything started to change, and it feels like the sport's been in a stead decline ever since. In 2000, you couldn't have pulled me away from a TV for a lap during this stuff. Now? Sunday's go by where I forget there's even a race on.
I remember this one. My favorite thing about this race was Todd Bodine who wrecked his #91 car on lap 41, but later replaced his brother after Geoff was having physical difficulties due to his injury at Daytona earlier that year. It was Geoff's first race since Daytona's wreck and he had qualified 4th and was running in the top 5 all race, but the driver change caused them to lose two laps. Amazingly, Todd was able to bring the #60 back to the lead lap before the end of the race. Todd Bodine finished in 43rd and 13th in two different cars in the same race. The #60 car was the fastest car on the track all night, no doubt. I really wanted to see it win, but it was too late. @1:04:00 @1:11:29 @1:29:06 @1:34:54 @1:46:00 @1:58:44
Unless I'm mistaken, this was the last Cup start for Joe Falk (owner of Todd Bodine's #91) before Falk's upcoming attempt at Darlington this weekend with driver T.J. Bell.
What a great race this was to watch! I did not know that Jr. had won this, so I really got worked up on this one. I enjoyed watching a 13 year old race as much as I do live ones if not more!
Thanks for the upload. Jr ran a great race but I wish Terry would be a little more aggressive. At least it was a clean race. If Earnhardt Sr. were in 2nd place he would've spun the leader and then said he was just trying to "rattle his cage".
The 2000 Pontiac Excitement 400 was the first of the last NASCAR on GMA races held at Richmond Raceway. It was aired live on GMA Network and Channel V Philippines Channel 27 on May 7, 2000 with a radio simulcast on Super Radyo DZBB 594 and Campus Radio 97.1 WLS FM
@pacmancucumber1783 this took 20 something hours to upload so until I get it to go faster it will be 30 min..except special races like the Bud shootout and all star races...I'll try and put those into 1 video.
@KingCuervo88 Yeah, I probably won't be uploading any of my races that way (even though TH-cam lets you) unless it gets faster to do so in the future, so I'll probably just upload 30 minute segments as well.
Classic example of a Rusty choke job from his later years. Dominate the first 300 miles and then mess around with air pressure or something and the car would go to crap.
yeah, and sometimes he'd try and make the calls himself. That's why he could never win in his final years, he'd never let his crew chief do the chiefing after Robin Pemberton left.
First race I ever watched the whole way through. I was only 7 at the time, but I was instantly hooked for life.
my favorite season in nascar ever the drivers the paint schemes the racing the commentators and channels everything
Greatest Man That Ever Lived I know. all the cars had a sponsor

Damn. DJ looked so young. I feel old as fuck now because I'm close to the age he was when this happened. Haha.

Edited: He didn't win a race on ESPN until July 2013 (2nd Pocono race)
Will all your races in the future be in 1 video, or will you do the 30 minute part thing?

At 2:09:17 it looks like its a number 3 on his car

oh wow, at 1:31:27 you can see Chad Little really pound that wall at the bottom of the screen.
Ouch!
