Shaun Mitchell well it dependd a lot on which skills you wanted to level up... some were very slow, other very fast... sneak, misticism, alteration and illusion were part of my build and they went up fast as hell, archery was slower but i didn't struggle too much with that either.
As Shawn said, when you play legit, you don't think about any glitch to level up, you can finish the game with all the side quests and have only 10 in athleticism tho
Master Gee The Invincible I always save before nuclear option with Idiot Savant then I just keep loading and playing the quest until Idiot Savant triggers.
yeah, it is worth it. Even a small boost like 5 or 10% may not seem like much early in the game when we are all leveling pretty fast, but I can imagine how long it would take to go from level 100 to 101 for example... and doing it 10% faster would probably translate to saving hours of time.
@Split Dimension If you're willing to drink beer before you pick up the SPECIAL book you can boost it to 11 and then drink a dirty wastelander before you pick up the intelligence bobble head and you can get it to twelve. Front load the goodness ASAP and it'll pay big dividends although the library fight can be a little rough at low levels.
@@elmospasco5558 Yeah it's the only way in the game to get your stats to 11, make sure the skill is level 10 and then pick up the respective bobblehead and you can get it to level 11
If you think of getting idiot savant as costing the XP it takes to level up, it will always be worth it to take Idiot Savant vs increasing your intelligence by 1. Idiot savant is always worth it because the bonus XP adds on to the XP you're already getting, and will quickly be worth the XP it took to spent the skill point for Idiot Savant.
Just start with 4 cha 10 int 10 luck and go straight to Boston Public Library and get the int bobblehead to be locked at 11 int and then wrap around to Spectacle Island for luck bobblehead to be locked at 11 luck and then enjoy the game with idiot savant going off all the time, at like 43 you'll be at 10 in every attribute and then you're free to get whatever perks you want the rest of the game, you can do all of this before you kill Kellogg.
+Ethen Rosas same here, my character has 4 intel since well, I can't live without being able to hack terminals and even with that relatively low amount and reloading saves, I have yet to see IS kick in when turning in a quest. It happens a couple of times on trash enemies and thats it. This was after about 14 hours of gameplay testing out IS and it NEVER procced on a quest turn in. I realize it's all random, but that is too random for me, those points spent in Luck could go towards something else.
LOL I'm still playing Skyrim too, I mean that's the beauty of Bethesda's RPG games, They are impossible to get old. sure you might stop playing them for 2-3 months, but you will eventually come back to them.
He acts like Idiot Savant is not bad at INT 10... but it is if you consider INT 10 is 30% increase in XP... so 142% average with Idiot Savant and 10 INT means Idiot Savant is giving you a 12% XP bonus where when you are at INT 1 that is 3% with a 152% average means Idiot Savant is giving you a 49% Bonus (HUGE DIFFERENCE). That is a 37% difference in XP
+JV2017gameplay You guys also have to consider that INT 1 + LVL2 IS only takes 3 level up points whereas INT 10 + LVL2 IS takes 12 level up points. Thats huge.
well idiot savant works on when you complete quest as well. just quicksave before you complete a quest and get 3 times to 5 times the xp for the completion of the quesg
In my experience i have a 10 luck and 4 int build. I find that high luck and perception combined with idiotic savant allows you to level up quickly and do a lot of vats damage
Another thing you forgot to account for: You can save your game while you are in conversation. So, if you save your game before turning in quests, you can keep reloading until Idiot Savant triggers. Since you get more exp for turning in quests than you do for any individual kill, this gives you a lot of EXP.
Because the base experience being multiplied increases with each level of INT, even though higher INT levels lower Idiot Savant chance drastically, it's still beneficial.
This is a very informative video, thanks for taking the time to create these, shame some people don't understand the work that actually goes into editing...I'm lucky if I can get one out a week! Ignore the haters and get on with what you love!
I started with 10 INT with the extra SPECIAL point in INT so 11 INT after I found the Special book in sanctuary Using Idiot Savant rank 2 and Night Person Rank 2, I can MAXIMIZE my XP gain at night- I turned in a quest to Preston just after 6:00pm and jumped from level 25 to level 28
Add save scumming for mission turn ins and the % can go much higher, especially when Well rested. Great video, and balance is key but stacking multiple techniques is awesome as well.
@@ryshlo9402 you're using idiot savant wrong. with 10 int you should save just before completing mission, keep reloading until it procs, and voila, 5x mission exp for you. but who care about idiot savant if you're not playing on 1 int, 10 cha, 5 per for demo expert and get spray n pray anyway.
I love the weapons system in this game where you can be good at every type of weapon class unlike fallout 3 where you could only focus on 2 if you wanted them to work well
+LaughingJeff It's good to start out specializing on one or two type as your "bread and butter" skills to help you level up, then saving the rest for the upper levels if you plan to max everything out. But yes, I love the fact that there's no level cap and you can max every SPECIAL stat and perk if you are willing to put in the time and effort.
+LaughingJeff because of that whole situation, i don't level up my character past level 56 to differentiate my builds. you HAVE to specialize if you want to be effective with only 56 levels on Survival i chose level 56 because of the theoretical possibility of a future character using all the capstone perks
+JV2017gameplay Those numbers are based on an apparent play style. I play a Per/Agi build with only 3 int and 2 Chr. I'd go so far as to say that I level nearly as fast if not faster than an Int/luck build based solely upon time to kill/quest completion time ratio in comparison. I've played both builds. Frankly a gun slinger works equally well. Considering at about lvl 6 I one shot almost all standard mobs on very hard. Saving on Stims, food, and bullets. I currently have 237 stims and my food stuffs out weigh my entire weapons and armor inventory combined. Simply because I focus on high damage, high survivability. Speed running sites with 20+ mobs in around 90 seconds.
Thanks for the video. I'd add that Rank 3 on Idiot Savant (IS) dramatically boosts XP as well. Why? Because then you go on a killing spree right after IS triggers, and EVERY kill at that point gets the bonus. Using that perk this way makes IS the best way to go, hands down. Also, with IS there is the optional benefit to saving before tuning in a quest, and trying a few times to see if IS will trigger for a massive XP boost. This games the engine and makes the potential value even more dramatic.
I also found that the higher you keep your health. The more effective idiot savant is in activating. For example I had a sniper pipe rifle. Was at almost 95% health with some rads. Sniping the raiders with headshots and same goes with all the other baddies. Also if you have trip wires or mines. Disarming them will give you 75% chance for your increase in level.
Great video! I started a INT 1 character for fun just so I could use the idiot savant perk, I'm happy to hear that it will be worth while. I will gradually increase INT from 1 to 4 for the gun nut perk, but for now I'm happy with the EXP.
I beat the game using very high inteligence (10) I'm now replaying the game at 1 intelligence and idiot savant. I must say that It is very good. If you save before you turn in a quest, and you dont get the proc, keep reloading. Eventually, you will get it. I'm getting around 1700 exp per quest.
@@kowikowi7060 thank YOU for saying this. Ive been reading lots of people (lots of em) saying theyre using this "technique" for getting it to proc, where as u can easily use console command cause yall basically cheating BUT want to feel better about yourself :(
i would rather just find a door locked(expert or master) by a terminal and lock it with the terminal and lockpick it, then lock it again with the terminal and soo on, lol
For me it always comes down to what build I want. In my experience (I've played through the game 5 times now), 1 INT and Idiot Savant works really well with a sneaky/melee character. You don't need gun nut/science perks for melee at all, which is great. At the same time, while medic is good to have, if you have for example 10 STR and 10 AGI, you're going to primarily be getting sneak attacks and hopefully not be taking too much damage in the first place (plus the game is way too generous with stimpacks anyway...)
I've got 10 int, the lab coat and ushanka. I always keep them when fighting with sneak and sniper. And by boosting chemist, when I take a berry it last longer. So I can be with 18 int for a good time.
I personally went with 10 int base. Boosted to 11 with the bobblehead and then further boosted to 13 with int glasses/hat. It ends up being 2% less than lvl 1 int except I get all the perks in the tree. Later on when I max out the perk that doubles fusion core duration I may just equip a full set of int gear and rely on the power armor for my defenses. This would end up being better than lvl 1 int.
+BallIsLifeYouKnow i think everybody is understanding the catch. That's why the results are averaged due to the RNG. If it activated every time, then there would be no need for testing and the math would be correctly done by a 10 year old.
That's alleviated by the 3rd rank where killing an enemy guarantees the proc for short duration so that means you kill an add and then kill the boss and you get guaranteed bonus experience
Not so sure if anyone heard about it before. Here's my way(You'll need science 4 to be able to fully upgrade plasma gun weapon), you should dupe your resources(for example if you have 1 glue you can multiply it the following way 1->2->4->8->16->32->64->128->256->512->1024->2048 and etc.) I recommend you keep at least 10k cuz in this case you will be able to multiply your resources extremely fast and you won't have to worry about shortages. You can check the youtube in order to find duping guides. Basically, you get the gun, go to the weapons workbench and create every single mod for it(With INT 10 it game me apx 990-1010 xp using plasma gun), afterward you throw the mods out of your inventory or maybe stack somewhere in order to sell. Repeat. Since you'll need lvl 41 to upgrade plasma, I strongly recommend you to start with 10 mm you may find in your Vault since in the case of 10mm you will be able to get at least the half of the upgrades without Armorer perk(you'll need the first level to get armorer 1 and 13th to get the 2nd one in order to upgrade the pistol to 90%). P.s. It is much better if your building queue is full or you don't want to place and scrap 100 shelves for an hour.
I appreciate that intro so much it's so short and that's they way they all should be Unlike other youtubers where a minute of the video is an anoyying dubstep filled intro yours is brief and you get right to the point +1 subscriber
The misinformation about the math surrounding these perks is mind boggling. You can't compare "average xp" unless the variance is the same. So comparing something with no variance to something with incredible variance is not being honest with yourself. There's way more value in something guaranteed than something which you have to play the slots at a chance of winning. Yes, over the course of thousands of hours of play you will see convergence towards idiot savant being valued as described. But you'll see that the intelligence component continually on every transaction. Poker players learned a long time ago that it's much better to go with lower variance plays than to maximize the expected value with high variance plays. You can go an entire play through with the build in this video and never once get idiot savant to proc on a quest turn in. I know, because I did this build to level 45 without a single proc on quest turn in. This substantially affects the amount of value the perk has from play through to play through. As the author of this video said, he had it proc on a quest turn in the first quest. But this is a bit like saying it's smart to play the lottery because I won it the first time I played it. Not exactly the same, because lottery has bad expected value, but same logic to justify something.
your own math is pretty bad however, Eveything with Idiot Savit Procs, Settlement Building, Quests, Evey fucken thing. Its 100% Worth having the Perk, ITs Even better when you combine it WITH intelligence.
I start with INT at 10, and LCK at 5. Get the savant perk as first perk. I follow that with the special book glitch(which still works) to get INT to 11, then I go get Piper. Piper and I go to the Boston library to get the INT bobblehead, which brings INT up to 12. Then I max out my affinity with Piper to get her perk which grants bonus xp for discovery and speech checks. This is the best start that I've found to maximize xp gains for a playthrough.
Thank you for summing this up. It seems that Idiot Savant is a useful way to level up quickly, if that's your goal, and it's okay to still add points to Intelligence - you still get a benefit.
Does the scaling in exp with intelligence (the 142%) include the Exp bonus given by intelligence? If that's the case, it would kinda make sense since you'll be gaining 130% + the adjustments given by the low chance of proc-ing Savant. No?
+Shelby Shum Of course it includes the Exp bonus given by intelligence. Basically the more intelligence you get, the higher the intelligence bonus goes but the lower the idiot savant bonus is. At rank 1 intelligence I guess idiot savant averages out at a 52 percent experience, while at rank 10 intelligence it averages out at just 12 percent extra experience (142-130).
I think Idiot Savant is a must have. You will complete the game around level 35 if you are average, not rushing story and not getting distracted so much. Story mission gives a lot of exp, but after that you pretty much do repeatable quest from w/e faction you side with. I found myself exp starved after finishing story, and I am talking about the first run when I dont have Idiot Savant on. It is a very long way to get your character to max out every SPECIAL and perks, and story mission only takes you around 1/3 the way there. Also killing exp can seem minimal but it can contribute to around 50 % of over all exp, without IS, so the last rank of IS is useful for you to grind your way to maximum. And since it is a game of chance, you can always save before turning in a quest to have a chance of IS procing on a particularly high exp quest, and load if you are unlucky. On my first run I didnt want IS because Int is a stat you must invest to do more damage, but the data from this video has proven that it is worth it no matter what. If you are not into role playing and want a powerful character, you dont normally invest in int past Science! perk, which is at 6 and put you at the safe zone for IS.
I don't understand why people are in such a rush to level up in FO4 considering this is the most casual out of them all. You don't even need to really level that fast since the accuracy of your weapons is dead on and you can just sneak and use single shot rifles/energy weapons for the armor pen. And if one REALLY need to level, there's radiant quests everywhere so it's not like running out of easy exp is a thing. Honestly, other than terminals and locks, everything else can just be save scummed.
I really like the Idiot Savant perk. It just scares the crap out of me sometimes with that crazy noise it makes. Always seems to proc when things are tense and I'm trying to sneak and stealth kill.
Hey JV. I think it would be better for you to not say "just a quick reminder guys. your number 1 hub for..." Say it in the beginning of your intro like its part of the description. say it like you mean it. You seem unsure about it right now. Something like "What's up guys JV2017 here. Your number hub for fallout 4 on youtube. Bringing you another video for... proceed to explain idiot savant." I hope my tone coveys constructive criticism.
+JV2017gameplay I really like and appreciate the Chanel, but what objectively makes you the "#1 hub for fallout 4 content on TH-cam"? Subscribers, views, video count?
Yeah. Less trying to be, and more sounding like actually bieng would help to create that "assertiveness" feeling i guess... The way he put it just felt akward... Like... "Ok, alright dude, whatever. Just cut to the chase already lmao"
Combine Idiot Savant, the Lover's Embrace perk (temporary 15% XP), the "An Experience to Remember" Live and Love magazine (permanent 5% XP when traveling with a companion), AND saving in the conversation when turning in quests and reloading if you don't get the Idiot Savant to pop, and you can get over 2000XP each time.
This experiment is not entirely correct. In fact it has no practical use for players. Why? It's true that INT 1 IS is the best exp gain but even then you can not even vaguely say that experience will be 150% since you don't know at which actions you will get the proc. So lets say you've killed 100 enemies for 12 experience and completed 10 quests for 300 exp. each. With Idiot Savant 2 probability 11% from INT 1 IN GENERAL you will get 11 enemies of 60 exp and 1 quest of 1500 exp. But in real play through you can get 3, 4, 5 quests to proc with the perk and 6 enemies instead. That would make it (lets say) 4 x 1500 + 6 x 60 = 6360 in comparison to 1 x 1500 + `11 x 60= 2160. The difference is huge. So the actual percentage to proc on each quest is MUCH more important than percentage on simple npc kills. Since at INT 1 you get the best percentage per quest this is the best choice for actual playthrough. At INT 10+ you get 2% and less per quest which makes it far less useful. So, that experiment, although better than nothing, is not what you will get in real playthrough.
Aleks Elijah Then again, since the game has no level cap it shouldn't really matter in the end that you've "wasted" some points at the beginning _if_ those points makes you level up faster _and_ gives you access to perks you might otherwise not have access to. At least the perks that follow from maxing out either INT or LCK will have to play a role in what your decision is. From what I see further up in the thread there are also those who advice us to put points into _both_ INT and LCK. -- Personally I don't remember what perks become available in either of the two (I've only started playing the game) so I'll have to take a better look at the whole thing before I make my decision.
Jake Riches I didn't read your entire message but from the first sentence it looks fine but anyway, I haven't played fallout 4 since I probably put that message but by the time I was done with all the content I was only level 80 anyway.
Strength 2 with +1 from the You're SPECIAL! magazine making it 3 Strength.Perception 5 for Night Person perk as the +1 Bobblehead is found during one of the first quests. Endurance 4 for Chem Resistance. Charisma 3 for Lone Survivor. It works with Dogmeat currently (might be a bug). Intelligence 10 for as much XP as possible. Agility 3 for Sneak. Need it for the Brotherhood of Steel glitch to grind XP until level 40-50. Luck is stuck at 1 unless you want Idiot Savant which isn't that great as I go a full Intelligence build. Final XP bonus: 10 base intelligence 3 intelligence from Night Person 2 intelligence from Chem 2 intelligence from Lab Coat 1 intelligence from Press Hat 2 intelligence from Liam's Glasses 2 intelligence from Mentats 22 maximum intelligence for a grand total of 66% extra experience. This beats Idiot Savant by 13%. Get to the Brotherhood of Steel ASAP and do that exploit to Escort a Squire or something but instead Sneak-snipe the squire from the ship and wait for the quest to update. You can get all XP bonuses but you won't get Sneak which is very nice.
I'd rather have these perks then not. I mean seriously. For 2 perk points early on in the game (and that's really where idiot savant shines) whilst your intelligence is lower you can make nice boosts to your xp. But the reason why I think it shines is yeah later on and everything when your intelligence is higher you do see a decrease but as you level up suddenly those x5 bonuses aren't as efficient and your higher intellect takes over. BUT you still get those xp bonuses so it's still useful. Essentially what you're aiming for is to keep your intelligence lower until about level 40, then you start raising it higher and take intellect boosting drugs and have intelligence gear equipped and when you do even though you'll only get the xp bonus 1% of the time you'll get such a giant boost to your xp when you DO hit it that it makes it worth it. The perk works best when you have an intelligence of 1 or and intelligence of 14 and when it comes to finishing quests hitting a massive xp boost can reaaaaallllly level up your character good so I say you'd have to be a dope to not take the perk. I mean think about it. You're throwing away a chance for bonus xp. Regardless of whether or not your character is higher in intellect you'll STILL make more then if you didn't take that perk and if you take it out the gate at level 1 and 11, well that's 2 measly perk points ffs. Also a piece of free advice NEVER take the third rank. When you do it shuts off the ability to get that bonus for a time in exchange for times 3 xp for kills and it's just not worth it because it actually decreases your xp gain. And that may not sound like much but when you're crafting tonnes of drugs and food in the game having a lot of xp bonuses comes along fast and rather handy. Also you should boost your xp through the shit house for finishing quests and dumb yourself down for lower xp gains like through crafting. It's better to lose 10%-40% of 40xp then it is to lose 10-40%xp of 400xp. All in all this is the best perk in the game and even if you don't get the best value from it, it's STILL gonna net you more xp. Plus it's hilarious whenever the perk pops. I pissed myself laughing for the first 100 or so times whenever the vault boy/girl shows up and goes "YEAAAAAAAHHHHHH!" Ba doomp doomp tsst! Lols seriously, it's a riot.
I was going to restart the game on the hardest difficulty anyways, didn't get that far. Thanks for this, I'm going to definitely take advantage of this
I recently made a new character that was a luck/charisma build and in about a weeks time with the idiot savant I'm at lvl 51 where as with my intelligence/strength build took me 2 and a half weeks to reach lvl 58. I really like the luck branch because with all the random events that can happen it has made this character a funny one to play. Thanks for the short version of the chart btw, and I know it might not mean much but thanks man, thanks for the videos.
LOL forego crafting, hacking, healing, and for XP.....smart. XP will come anyways, however, crafting is a HUGE part of Fallout 4. Frankly, using the method described in this video is cutting more than half the game out for the sake of "leveling"(if that is what you want to call it in this spectacular RPG). Just build your character the way you want and not the way people on online show you.
+4cyl_LOL Someone hasn't found out you can take off mods from items and reattach them to your gun yet. You don't need gun nut to get gun mods. Also unlike intelligence, luck actually does something to help you in fights.
@@xxevilellisonxx good good. I didn't choose to level up fast because it kills the fun in the game and exploration. Take it easy and enjoy another run through. Plus this time was the first time i didn't blow the shit out of the institute
You should correct your observation for this perk. Having intelligence greater than 1 will lower the proc chance of the perk. In your reference article it combines this and reports that: "However, to be get the same average exp as 1 INT + Idiot Savant Level 2, you would need a boosted 16 INT." In summary yes Idiot Savant is the definitive way to level up faster but this does not combine well with high intelligence.
+JV2017gameplay I read the reddit post again and the updated data (newest comment): With Idiot Savant Perk II:Intelligence - 1: 54.5% bonus experience per action on averageIntelligence - 5: 49.5% bonus experience per action on averageIntelligence - 10: 36.5% bonus experience per action on averageProbably the best way to fast level is to start with INT 1 until you fast level and stacking levels to increase intelligence afterwards when it is really needed. Another point not touched by the video is that this also affects Quest completion. And since quests are limited in number the higher proc chance with INT 1 is really helpful.INT 5 could be the best combination since it is only 5% difference from INT 1 while INT 10 has a total of 18% difference on extra experience gained.

Here's a great XP tip with Idiot Savant. Before you turn in a quest quick save then turn the quest quest as you normally would. If you don't get the Idiot Savant multiplier just back out and reload the quest turn in. I usually get around 1k-3k XP per quest by this. BTW I use Idiot Savant 2 with Intelligence 1
If you complete any of the Nuclear Option quests for every faction but the Institute, and Rank 2 of Idiot Savant goes off, you get like around 9500 xp.

I've turned quest in with idiot savant and have gotten 3500xp in one turn in
I tried 35 fucking times in a quest turn in and I couldn't, get the bonus
+cory lepire most i got was 8100, i got it on the last quest in main quest line...
yea i gained like 2-3 lvls like that one time
+Ethen Rosas same here, my character has 4 intel since well, I can't live without being able to hack terminals and even with that relatively low amount and reloading saves, I have yet to see IS kick in when turning in a quest. It happens a couple of times on trash enemies and thats it. This was after about 14 hours of gameplay testing out IS and it NEVER procced on a quest turn in. I realize it's all random, but that is too random for me, those points spent in Luck could go towards something else.

I totally agree, you just made it seem like there was not much decrease between 10 INT and 1 INT, but there is.
+JV2017gameplay yeah I get what your saying now. Happy Thanksgiving and good video :)

You can ? Well im going to abuse that from now on. thx

Granas1988 yea idiot savant gives x5 randomly and you will most likely get 5x20xp but int gives a perm 130% more xp
TheJoePro if you are not on survival or near a bed or willing to repeat on survival you can quicksave/save and reload and keep turning in the quest
4:cocaine
Because the base experience being multiplied increases with each level of INT, even though higher INT levels lower Idiot Savant chance drastically, it's still beneficial.
you can also save before you turn in missions and retry turning it in until it triggers for thousands of XP.
Cheap, and possibly not time effective. But that's brilliant.

But yes, I love the fact that there's no level cap and you can max every SPECIAL stat and perk if you are willing to put in the time and effort.
i actually liked the previous system. the new one is so superficial. imo they just needed to remove the level cap and go back to the old system.
+LaughingJeff because of that whole situation, i don't level up my character past level 56 to differentiate my builds. you HAVE to specialize if you want to be effective with only 56 levels on Survival
i chose level 56 because of the theoretical possibility of a future character using all the capstone perks
+GBN Games imo is already "in my opinion"
***** hahahaha, i mistyped. Ill edit, thanks
its a bit risky if you asked me, i think i will play it safe and just level up in my own way.
+dvdfan100 lvl 6-8 intelligence builds are when not to use this, however 5 procs very well and 9/10 give bigger boosts, just not as often.
+Aimee Frost science bitch!
+dvdfan100 Then why the hell did you bother coming here
Sci is good so lvl 6 int ftw

Love idiot savant rank 2 INT 4. It makes a pleasant suprise for every action at random. Great video!
I've got 10 int, the lab coat and ushanka. I always keep them when fighting with sneak and sniper. And by boosting chemist, when I take a berry it last longer. So I can be with 18 int for a good time.

Random question - is it possible to max out the perk tree?
I personally went with 10 int base. Boosted to 11 with the bobblehead and then further boosted to 13 with int glasses/hat. It ends up being 2% less than lvl 1 int except I get all the perks in the tree. Later on when I max out the perk that doubles fusion core duration I may just equip a full set of int gear and rely on the power armor for my defenses. This would end up being better than lvl 1 int.
+Ben Dover You could have another point in it using the SPECIAL book that's on the ground in your kid's room after you come out of the Vault.

nobody is understanding that the catch with idiot savant is that it doesnt always activate.
ikr
+BallIsLifeYouKnow i think everybody is understanding the catch. That's why the results are averaged due to the RNG. If it activated every time, then there would be no need for testing and the math would be correctly done by a 10 year old.
+GoldenSausage LOL
+BallIsLifeYouKnow Agreed, the RNG isn't always with us
That's alleviated by the 3rd rank where killing an enemy guarantees the proc for short duration so that means you kill an add and then kill the boss and you get guaranteed bonus experience

Not exactly the same, because lottery has bad expected value, but same logic to justify something.
i get the feeling that JV didnt test this on quest turn ins. it would be more logical to do settlement post building
Yeah, I don't think he thought it through. It's an average, just like your average winnings from a slot machine.
your own math is pretty bad however, Eveything with Idiot Savit Procs, Settlement Building, Quests, Evey fucken thing. Its 100% Worth having the Perk, ITs Even better when you combine it WITH intelligence.
Just quicksave right before you turn in a quest, if it doesn't proc then reload your quicksave and keep trying.

I just got into this game in 2023. :P
The intelligence determines how often it happens not how much it gives.
@Split Dimension im pretty sure the exp gain is lower the higher intelligence you have
Whos here after the Fallout Series??!
DON'T FORGET ABOUT CHARISMA 10! That way you get super easy xp just by activating certain pieces of dialogue + it results in way more caps earned :)
Ha lol! I'm playing a Walter white(breaking bad) roleplay and I put him at ten intelligence!

Yeah but I don't wanna get a special to 10 for 600 exp
Aleks Elijah
Then again, since the game has no level cap it shouldn't really matter in the end that you've "wasted" some points at the beginning _if_ those points makes you level up faster _and_ gives you access to perks you might otherwise not have access to.
I logged in just to say that your logo animation is mesmerizing. I replayed dozens of times. Kudos, looks really good :)
Final XP bonus:
10 base intelligence
3 intelligence from Night Person
2 intelligence from Chem
2 intelligence from Lab Coat
1 intelligence from Press Hat
2 intelligence from Liam's Glasses
2 intelligence from Mentats
22 maximum intelligence for a grand total of 66% extra experience.

I read the reddit post again and the updated data (newest comment):
With Idiot Savant Perk II:Intelligence - 1: 54.5% bonus experience per action on averageIntelligence - 5: 49.5% bonus experience per action on averageIntelligence - 10: 36.5% bonus experience per action on averageProbably the best way to fast level is to start with INT 1 until you fast level and stacking levels to increase intelligence afterwards when it is really needed. Another point not touched by the video is that this also affects Quest completion. And since quests are limited in number the higher proc chance with INT 1 is really helpful.INT 5 could be the best combination since it is only 5% difference from INT 1 while INT 10 has a total of 18% difference on extra experience gained.
Soreally you win no matter what, good to know. I probably need to level up my luck though, i'm only 4 in that as opposed to 6 in intelligence
Love the amount of detail, i subscribed
I hate how long your intro and outro is, literally 35 seconds of you talking about how youre the "#1 hub for daily fallout 4 videos on youtube" although most people are posting daily or other daily videos with more relevant information (glitches, how to fix glitches, non-spoiler fun gameplay, etc.). stop talking about how you are #1 2 times a video.
Minusra!
That's the name of the guy who gave us all that gold info.
Why can't you say the name of the guy who actually did all the work?? "THIS PERSON..."
This is a honorless practice to glorify yourself and your channel... Give credit to Minusra by his name!

Who’s playing in 2022 lmao
You just gained a subscriber, love your videos!
I really like the detail you give with your videos, thank you for what you do. Honestly I think I would just get the intelligence.

Yes
Just save before you turn in a quest. Boom, xp.
Boom ruined experience
Thanks for the video, and for giving credits where credits are due. Upvote for that. I decided to start a dumb character, because I always make a story for my character. I didn't know about Idiot Savant, but got it right away - then I got sad when I found a Bobblehead with +1 int - but thanks to your video, I now know it is not that bad. Thanks. Going Int 3 and idiot Savant 2, soon 3. Next Char. probably the same after your video. My third char, will be Int 10 - he is going to be the builder.
Man these videos are a throwback
actually 3% multiplied by 10 would be just 30%... not 130% lol
ah ok my bad then. great video though bro! leveling like crazy now
No 130 30% plus the normal amount 100%
Yeah i understood what he meant
true intelligence here :)
Just play the game and you will level up
Joanne Yarwood yes that's true... but I kinda completed every quest in the game and I still very much enjoy my character but I find it's harder to level up when I have nothing to do
What level are you? I find that i level way too fast. I am level 25 and I just freed Nick from the gunmen otherwhise i only did some settlement quests.
Thistle Tea I am a 95 and I play on very hard mode.
Joanne Yarwood no fucking shit
Good job taking someone else's content and using it for your daily spam of trivial crap relating to fallout just so you can max out your views
InDeepPudding Are you always this stupid? Or were you born with low intelligence?
Zero Masters Yeah man!
thank you this and the using crafting to level at sanctuary video. they helped me so much.
Damn that's op
Good Video it helped my character level up faster than im guessing I would have.
Well that was helpful, i'll take both perks and maxmize them
thanks for explaining that for me
Subscribed BTW
i've finding you videos use full and fun so i finally decided to sub thx for the vids
Wow, this guy really went all out with his experiment. That's a fully fleshed out scientific paper.
If you complete any of the Nuclear Option quests for every faction but the Institute, and Rank 2 of Idiot Savant goes off, you get like around 9500 xp.
Some great information in this video, thanks mate.
