    UPDATED SETUP
Whole home battery backup and generator setup.
    Aims 6000 watt 48v inverter
    48 volt battery bank
This is video 1.5 of 3. In the next two videos i'll explain how the generator hookup works and the manual transfer switch at the power panel side.
My goal is to eventually go off grid with solar panels.
This is all purely for demonstration. You should consult an electrician for ANY electrical work or recommendations in your own home or setup.

Do This To Bring Any Old Battery to Life- Just Like New th-cam.com/users/postUgkxcJ22tnHH9l1vjdIdEIG27iOG55P7LXI8

You could, but most people don’t because of the added maintenance required for the batteries. I suggest you do some research in to lead acid vs AGM vs lithium batteries and make your decision from there. Good luck!

*This battery reconditioning program exceeded my presumptions. It worked on any drill battery, several AA and AAA batteries, **batery.repair** and any camera battery. The steps are simple and the act itself is exciting to do. No matter what type of battery you`ve got, it is sure to function again!*

After reading many reviews and watching a lot of videos, I chose this option for my first backup power station. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHypYDKHAN93Lp2RQpfvU_ksc70wJ00pt I was between this and a larger option that could power a wider range of items, but the price/size/capacity blend seemed right for this unit. Hasn't gotten a ton of use yet, but the build quality is solid and it charges fine via the Rockpals solar panel I purchased to pair with it. One thing to note is that the screen is optimized for a top down viewing angle, which makes sense, but this means it washes out at other angles - especially low angles. Not a huge deal, but perhaps a better option for the display could be used to provide wider viewing angles.

I have a pto generator on my tractor, feed it to the house and can run my stove hot water tank etc.....works for me and don't have the expense of new batterys ever except for the tractor, that is the problem with ev cars......battery replacement and its hyper expensive, ice vehicles here to stay longer than people think, but great job, nice installing.......👌

Nice setup, but these batteries have a 20yr life expectancy and when the power goes out I don’t have to touch anything. Lights dont even flicker in the house. Sounds like your setup requires some setup if there’s an outage. Different systems have different pros and cons. Glad your setup works for you!

You have the makings of an off grid home as a 35 year electrician ( in the trade) I appreciate it when I see a simple stupid with all the safety features included (no offense) at any time you could add solar or wind maybe both and it could keep your batteries charged use what ever is left over to heat your hot water, as means of a dump load. Very nice indeed

Nicely done man, the copper junction for Pos. and Neg. was brilliant ! I like how you have done this and kept it so neat, I don't like when the wiring looks like a birds nest, its better to have things all tied up, so if there is an issue or problem you can find it quick and fix it ! Nice job!

For anyone watching this is a 2kWhr battery , a typical house is using 20kWhr per day.
AGM batteries can not be discharged below 50% without damaging them/significantly shortening their life. Using only the top 25% will extend their life, but then you have very limited energy available.
These batteries will self discharge even with zero loads.
Lithium-Iron-Phosphate batteries are far supperior. If your interested to build a back up system, do some research, LiFePO4 batteries, All in One inverters there are great resources out there if you look.
For Electronics, avoid high THD (total harmonic distortion) invererters like the one in the vid. Good units cost more, but will not destroy your electronics.

great job!! I love the battery box!! big on safety. you will never go wrong with disconnects on both pos and neg. I use AGM in my electric scooter. 48V 20Ah CSB batteries 4X. look into EDISON battery NiFe 48V . Got 2 banks 12V 700Ah total over 10 years old 100% power .make sure you set correct battery type in your settings. AGM and flooded have different charge voltage.also keep a 12V meter handy to check balance of each 12V battery.

well done . lovely set up . I have a similar setup going on two things that are benefits but not absolutely criticalplace a mid point connection btwn the parallel bats with a 5a fuse thin wire . it balances you battery voltages better(but if the fuse pops its means you have a battery problem )this is a nice to have , place a 12v voltmeter in each battery . you can always see exactly what happening with the bats ,its also a early warning system should on bat start to fail. cheers

Therefore, you can still have connected the solar panels to the house and switch them back if there's daylight to keep charging the batteries. is that right?

Hi, I'm looking to buy a 5k or 6k inverter, does it make annoying noise? (fan etc), and if makes even more noise when it is working. The idea is to place it on my living room, but another area could be in a closed room underneath the stairs, but it would be just a bit more complicated there.

Nice set up..great ideas from this..
The fuse on the wall for positive.. You should put some electrical tape or liquid tape to cover that exposed ends..
If someone has a pipe or pole and turns around near it there is a chance to catch that little bit around the fuse..
That's what I did with mine..and I also covered the positive on all my batteries just to be extra safe...have a greatday

wow. I need this to run my lights in a grow room. it would be great for a power outage as well. but I would need some how to charge the batteries. I planned on an electric 120v motor with some high output alternators on a shaft with pulley's to charge the batteries when they get low from the 18hr a day light usage. I would need some type of inverter with about 8-10 120v sockets to plug my lights in. each light is 600w and I have 4 of them. I'm trying to use small electricity to charge those batteries to get around paying the big light bill. Any tips would be a great help. your video is the first one I came across with the almost same concept I need. just yours is so much more awesome! I love it! great video!

  • @solidsnake4022

Is each battery 12 volts? And if so does that implies that you connected 4 batteries in series as well as the remainder 4? And if so does that implies that you connected both 48v battery banks in parallel? I ask because I am planning on doing that by myself. But perhaps with 16 12v 101amps everstart deep cycle batteries.

This is slick and I want to try and build one. I'm an Urbana Ohio Native living in Houston so only powering 120 would be challenge in the summer however we could use a couple stand alone AC's for a day or two. In the winter I would have to make some adjustments my furnaces are non 20 two pole breaker and the pool needs 240V but it has me thinking. BTW it's going to rain at Muirfield this year.

I have a 4kw aimes power inverter. Had to learn the hard way.... the power saver mode won't come on with an inductive load (like a motor), only a resistive load. This blew my expectation that I'd be able to run the inverter in power save mode and my fridge would make it come on as needed. Not sure if others like Magna Sine work the same way or if a fridge can make the magna sine come on??

Most of it looks great I would recommend to get 100 % duty dc breakers real ones from outback or midnight solar. I have used those breakers you have before and kept frying them with my large bank. I also put a 400 amp ANL FUSE HOLDER GOPOWER T TYPE. And 4/0 tempco welding cables for my battery bank cables . And I have a power in and power out duel copper bus bars that equally put in power and use power across my whole bank. I did build mine as a 1410 AH bank with crown cr-235 6v batteries 12 of them . It can power a 15k btu ac unit offgrid with my 1800 watt solar array and 500 watt 3 phase wind turbine topped at 800 to 1100 watts on windy days . Works very well . I love the box you built . Mine is a metal tool box for a truck built like a Faraday cage . Protects the equipment from EMP. mine is portable wind and solar has 2 30.amp RV PORTS and a ATS for the house when its stored . I can run allot with it. Whats the size of your bank? 48v ?AH

@@dubohio I would still get a good 100 percent duty cycle dc breaker just a smaller one for 25.00 . I learned my lesson the hard way lol 😆. Nice setup 👌 😎. I know this guy that swaps out government redundancy systems he can get me the AGM 200 AH 12V batteries 4 for 100 dollars never used sat around for 6 mo and swapped out . I just purchased 50 of them to build a really big bank for my house . I have about 100 ft of 4/0 cable to make good cables i can't wait to see that in action this bank will be 48v or 60v depending on the inverter charger i get.

Excellent! now all you need are solar panels to charge the batteries.

How are you getting you second phase to your panel. Yes I know it's all 120 Volt but you have two separate phases on a modern electric system.

RAFE Alexa I’m not. There’s no need too. No 110v circuit needs 2 phases and I’m not running anything that’s 220. Everything I’m running peaks at about 1500 watts all together. This system was designed to keep me comfortable in the event of an outage.

How much $ for your whole set up including your solar panels ? I'm looking to go solar also in my 600 square foot home.

So you have 360 amp hrs at 48 volts right? If your batteries are rated at 180 amp hrs. Each.

The plan is go add solar at some point. I'm just working out the details as far as space and how I want the setup to operate. Here are the ground bars I used: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GJUZUMI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
