Sarah, I love your and Michael’s relationship! The way he gets so excited about learning and telling facts and the way u listen and get excited with him. U can tell u two are best friends in your marriage relationship! And I appreciate Michael sharing facts with all of us. I never know anything he shares with us so it is so nice to not only be learning how to paint but learning about what we are painting. Thank u both for all the sacrifices u make to get these videos out to us (especially when u get frost bite) Ha! We really do appreciate all u do. Loved this painting but I love them all!

I feel exactly the same way. Terrific relationship and wonderful conversation between the two of you that you share with us. Thank you

Michael's excitement over trees to cause him to say babe is how I get all the time. This was my most favorite moment this time round.

I'm so excited you mentioned Wright's Lake! I live near that area and love that place... sadly much of it burned this summer. But it'll recover.

      That sounds terrifying.

RadioLab was where I learned about forests & fungi! Such a good podcast. I'll need to go look up Oops. I'm excited to do this project with friends in a few days-- it's a gorgeous composition!

New to your channel...absolutely love the format - so relaxed and fun, and it made me feel like I was just sitting in with you guys hanging out. Sarah, you made it so easy to follow along...great instruction and explanations. I also liked Michael's "bonus" facts and info he shared. Interestingly enough, I just watched a documentary by Patagonia on trees on YT, and they talked a bit about the ancient Bristle Pine, amongst many other tree facts and info. Looking forward to following along with your other videos! :)

If a tree falls in the forest, and there's no one there to listen....
A chihuahua 500 miles away will bark at it...

Much as I love Keenan and his joy in life, Michael's passion for knowledge and sharing it is very exciting, especially paired with your passion for art and arting. It is a very powerful combination when served up so freely. Thank you! What a great treat and wonderful way to get my day off to a good start!!

i hear you on the butcher tray... i don't have one but i do use old cracked/chipped ceramic plates for pretty much the same reasons. also, nice to see i am not the only person using dry for a wash instead of wet on wet.

It’s really cute. 👩🏼 😀 (you and everyone else there at LMA always look nice on the videos, but maybe you got a slightly different haircut recently or something?) Hope you and your little family are doing well!

And a last one.. Speaking of frostbite.. It is said it usually starts at the extremities, in a similar way as the fungus Michael was talking about, so the majority of the body heat goes towards the center and the most vital organs.

I seem to have lost the burnt orange that came in the box. Any suggestions on recreating it? I have tiger orange, sepia, & all the yellows.

    • @LetsMakeArt

Hi Stacey, Sarah advised trying a Tigers Orange with a bit of Black or Sepia.

Try painting without using pencil lines at all. Just give er, comes out alooot more natural. The pancil markings always tske away from the finished peices cause you can always see them. Draws the eye away from the paint on the paper. Either way it does look good and im not putting down your painting in any way. Just sharing a tip I learn over the years.

Orange as a colour name in the English language didn’t come in till the fruit was introduced, before that they were all red.
