    You don’t look older Irit…. I love your natural colour. It seems to brighten your face. I dont colour my hair.. I don’t want to put unnecessary chemicals in my hair. I love my grey hairs but just waiting for the brown ones to come to the party 😂🎉. Loving The Joy Art Club and thoroughly recommend to anyone on the fence 💖💖💖.

I stopped coloring my hair I think six years ago and I love it and get so many compliments. I love the color mixes you shared and I use your color mixing book all the time. OMG your white hair looks STUNNING!!!!!! I cannot wait for the coloring to grow out because you will look FIRE!!!!!! Especially with your blue eyes, they will shine!!!!! And NO, it does NOT make you look older/bad/any other negative BS society tries to push on women with natural hair color. You look just absolutely amazing and beautiful 😍😍😍😍😍. Embrace it, don't let anyone tell you any different than you are perfect, and shine!!!!!!! (Btw I am totally jealous of the gray/white and have been toning my hair in the last few years to let my silver hair come out more because I just love it so much. I am also 45 and don't give two flying F&^%s about what anyone thinks about the color of my hair or its length, since I have always worn my hair super short - sooooo "unfeminine" 😂😂😂, or so I've been told but never cared about opinions. I have never colored my hair, have never cared for coloring it and only use the natural, plant based toner to make my silvers shine. And the older I get the less I care about others' opinions about my looks. As you say, it's a them problem, not a me problem. So please shine bright and keep that awesome attitude of NGAF about others' opinions of you and how you look. Those who say anything negative hate themselves anyway and not really how you look.)

      Thank you so so much for the kind words! I love how freeing getting older is, and a priviliege I'm grateful for. I wish young women could have more of that freedom early on. I don't care at all what strangers think about how I look but I was a bit concerned what my partner and immediate family would think and I really really wished for them to be supportive, so far they are so I'm very relieved and hope it stays this way as my hair grows out! My husband is salt and pepper for years and I couldn't care less what color his hair is... But with him it was gradual and with me it's more sudden, anyway thanks again for the very kind comment, much appreciated!!

    Also: Lake Superior- work with your friend to get lodging at least one month early- the North shore is epic- Glensheen Manor in Duluth is an art-nouveau era Lumber Baron’s mansion/ estate. Split Rock lighthouse, Betty’s Pies, and Gooseberry falls are all must-see locations. And Grand Marais is a very art-heavy town.
    In Mpls-: Mpls Institute of Art is epic, in St Paul, the Como Conservatory is stunning (Victorian/modern glass structure), and French Meadow Bakery/Restaurant is divine (both cities)
    Really hope your trip works out 💖

      @@iritlandgraf well, I guarantee she knows about most of it…. If she is science-y, the conservatory is probably something she treasures.
      October is beautiful here- have lots of pale blue neocolor 2’s to scribble in your skies, around watercolor trees. Or, autumn leaf colors in neocolors, and white for birches, and then go crazy with autumnal lavender twilight or bright blue watercolor skies and water 💖

    Hi Irit , this was as always a lovely video , your hair is literally stunning ❤, I went through the same process about 7 years ago with all the similar emotions you were talking about , but I really believe that as we get older the natural white/ silver is the most flattering and as others have said in the comments it makes your face glow in an ethereal way ! I have a grey streak framing the left side of my face. My mom had a grey streak on the right side of her face. I love it! I'm done coloring my hair and the chemicals. I'm with you a million%. You are beautiful any color or style you like. I sometimes use that purple shampoo to brighten the grey and it takes away a brassy look. Started going grey when I was 16 with a cruella de ville type streak. I’m now 45 and have been grey for 5 years and I love my colour. Hallo Irit, the dark color mixes are magical.
    The bottom row Wisteria with Naples fits me at this time.
    I mixed some colors today & have been watching some of your older vids.
    My task has been to junk out old toxic tubes of watercolor.
    My hair color story is similar.
    My granddaughter Lilly said grandma your hair is getting blond like mine. I said I think it’s gray to go with the brown & red tint in the older length. You have great thick hair💕

    Love your videos Irit! You look beautiful grey or not! It’s so strange how some women feel the need to comment on such trivial things that are just mean! I had a person that would say things like you’d look so much thinner if you wore just black clothing. I struggle with my weight and I eventually said very politely, yes but even so it’s not like I’m going to look skinny by wearing black. Your tribe will accept your choices and enjoy spending time with with you and the rest doesn’t matter! You are blessed with beautiful grey hair! My hair is thinning the older I get and I’m just trying to keep it healthy! I’ve noticed a big shift here in the US to embrace going grey, there are amazing stylists that do a process to make a lady completely grey. Of course that requires more dying, harsh chemicals and salon costs! Thanks again for sharing your favorite colors and creativity! Love seeing the unusual aggressive paint pigments like the Azo Yellow! So much fun all the choices!🤩🥳❤

    I have the same hair genetics! My siblings and I have had significant amounts of gray/white hair since our late teens. Besides a brief stint with some pink semi-permanent dye-which was admittedly really fun-I have just decided to embrace the gray as it creeps in.
    It’s really inspiring to see other women making choices that make them feel happy and authentic, whether that’s embracing their natural hair colors/textures, going all out with vibrant hair colors, or anything in-between. ❤

    EXACTLY what I needed tonight! I haven’t painted in almost 2 months…long story, but my precious Dr Kitty Leela was poisoned about 6 weeks ago and to say it was touch and go for awhile is an understatement. I won’t go into all the details, but after several weeks of almost no sleep or food, I ended up sick. But I refused to leave my Princess…she’s as much one of my kids as my girls are and 3 years ago she saved my life..I wasn’t leaving her side. We’re kind of both recovering together…at this point though…I’ve spoiled her SO much ..I’ll just say she got too used to mama carrying her, breakfast in bed, lifting her up onto the table and bed…it’s kind of hard to tell if she’s not feeling well..or is just used to me doing EVERYTHING for her. 😂🥰. That’s ok…she’s worth every second… My friend suggests a baby sling…MAYBE that’s a bridge too far..😂
    Anyways, my eldest and I were talking about certain paintings we want to do to remember both my late dad and my late son. My Dad was born and raised in Daytona Beach, specifically Ponce Inlet, long before there were any homes or condos; just the historic light house. I found some photos from the 30’s and 40’s.. my brilliant, world traveling son, one of his favorite places was Saipan…and an undeveloped Island in Micronesia where he and his former fiancé spent several months. He kept promising me he was going to take me to live with her family, spread across Micronesia. Unfortunately, my health prevented that. I have tons of pictures of him spear fishing under water, in their hand-carved kayaks…. My daughter and I are going to start TRYING to paint some of these scenes.
    As for your hair, it’s beautiful! I was naturally very light blond, but starting in my mid-50’s…it started turning 4-5 different colors. My late son started sending me temporary colors from Europe and Asia and said he’d seen “lots of colorful boomers over here.” I tried pink, didn’t like it, but was afraid to go any deeper than what you see in my profile picture. Just before he passed, he was back here in the US to finish his MBA in late 2019…and he sent me about 8 bottles of purples, lavender, blues and greens. “Come on mama!” After he passed from an aneurysm in 2021…my girls were here for several weeks. I tried purples…didn’t like it and experimented with the others, off and on, much to my doctor’s amusement. He made me see a psych…because of my hair color. The wonderful psychologist called my doctor while I was there and told him maybe HE needs to talk about why it bothered him so much. 😂😂
    Today? For about 6 months now, I’ve had an ombré turquoise thing going on..and I get compliments all the time! Unfortunately, I didn’t inherit the beautiful silver/blue white hair my parents and Uncle had. Despite being in my mid-60’s, it’s still 3-4 different colors..so, I’m just helping it along! 😁 The color is inexpensive enough that even on my very low fixed income, I can afford to keep it up and I figured out how to do it on my own. 🤷🏼‍♀️
    Ok, I’ll go watch the rest of your video now 😁

    Thank you very much, for you recommending Malcom Dewy,(sorry if I spelt his name wring). I am going to start my watercolour journey and have been very interested in impressionist painting. Can you paint in the impressionist style with watercolours?
    I too have been thinking of stopping my hair colouring. Genetically, I started having grey hair at 9. By my teens I started dying my hair. I am 56 now ang have hajr diwn to my waist and want to stop dying my hair. It would take over 10 years to grow it out, so I am thinking of ge/ing help transitioning at a salon. Your hair is beautiful going white, it makes your blue eyes pop! I love it! ❤

    • @iritlandgraf
      @iritlandgraf  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you so much! I think you can definitely include elements of the techniques and colors the impressionists used in watercolor, but I would say that their style is so successful in large part due to the medium of choice, oils. The way the paint is applied, the brush strokes, the color shifts, I'm afraid those things can only be done successfully with oils.
      He does show some demos with acrylics, but I've also painted with both and the truth is, oils have a luminousity and glow that acrylics just don't, even if a gloss varnish is applied. Hope that helps and regarding the hair- A salon could transition you to grey in a day but it will also most likely damage your hair somewhat. A couple of years ago I was sure I was going to color my hair till the day I die, like my grandmothers did. It just becomes a part of the your routine when it really doesn't have to be. Whatever you decide the most important thing is to be happy with your decision. Thanks again!!

    I used to henna my hair which was a massive effort, hours and loads of mess. It looked fantastic, but like you I just did not want to. It was scary to start with, but the thing about grey and silver hair for younger women became trendy so as an older woman I took heart, grew the colour out and loved what I got, naturally streaked hair which would cost a fortune to achieve in a salon. Looking at you in this video it is obvious that it is going to, look beautiful and you are going to really enjoy the freedom. You have done half the battle already, by accepting it can be beautiful, and believe me it will be, is t it nice how the shining white that frames your face brings out all the colour in your features!
    I forgot to say how useful these thoughts on mixes are, I have been tentatively experimenting with allowing different pigments to bleed into each other but very randomly this gives me some start place to be creative with it. I too love to mix on the paper….

    Lindsay the frugal crafter said that since Lucas was bought out by Falor Rowney, the colbalt Teal is no longer Pg 50 and its pb 28? But also that she didn't like it near as much or maybe that it wasn't as high quality now?... either Way they advertise it as pg 50 but when it arrives its the PB 28 color.

      I've been using that colour for years and yes it seems that Lukas uses PB28 for it which is cobalt blue? I say PG50 in the video because that's what most (or all I think, besides Lukas ) brands use to make this color. Hope that clears it up 😊 as for the quality, I agree there are somewhat better versions (I particularly like the Daniel smith one) but to me the difference is not that noticeable and the price point of Lukas is excellent value for money.

I am so embracing the grey. Yes, I may look older, but my hair is much healthier and I don’t need to bother with hiding the root line anymore. I also am “on the fence” about taking any of the Milan courses because they “feel” so commercial to me. Maybe I’ll take a small course and see how I feel afterwards….. and I had to giggle about your IKEA pronunciation. quick comment about your hair. first of all, love you and your hair whatever you decide to do. second, I grayed very young as well and stopped coloring my hair in the my 30s. I'm 56 now and I love my hair. I do get a lot of comments about it from other women who compliment it. For me, I'm so glad I stopped coloring it while I was younger and I love my choice. I choose to spend time and energy on other self care things now instead of the coloring which honestly felt more like a chore. I get my hair trimmed a little more often than before, and I love the money I save and the fact that I'm not putting chemicals on my hair. I do think people might assume I'm older because of my gray hair in much the same way people used to think I was younger because I'm short in stature. It is just a quick assumption that can go away and I don't take offense as I think age is to be celebrated. You're beautiful inside and out. :)

    I went white, stopped putting in highlights, and I've had nothing but compliments about my natural colour. Yours will be beautiful too.
    The Milan thing. I've watched a couple of the TH-cam series of the competition. My feelining is that there's not enough variety in styles. You don't see much of the paintings themselves either.
    IKEA. I'm English. In English the name is pronounced aikeea. It may not be the Swedish way, the original way, but when speaking English that is how it's pronounced. Think of English words used in foreign languages. They are pronounced in the foreign language differently to the way they're pronounced in English.
    Your storage areas are great!

    • @iritlandgraf
      @iritlandgraf  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for sharing! You bring up an interesting point but I think when it comes to names there's more flexibility and honestly it's not a big deal how people pronounce it.
      The reason I mentioned it is because I got so many comments correcting me and while I see your point unless it is completely not understandable what I'm talking about I felt there was no need to take the time and correct me.
      Not exactly the same but also when I introduce myself in English I say my name with the original pronunciation in my language. So to me it would be like someone corrected me to say I should pronounce it the English way. I will say I so agree when it comes to completely different or hard to pronounce names. The example I always think of are people who visit Spain and then start saying the Spanish pronunciation for Barcelona or Ibiza. I find that pretentious because we don't do that with other names and the Spanish pronunciation has sounds the English language does not.
      That is not the case with Ikea, which can be easily pronounced the correct way also by English speakers.
      Anyway I accept your reasoning and since it seems to be a bit of a hot potato I may very well spare myself the trouble and just say eye-kee-a from now on 😉

      @margaretpinsent6388 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@iritlandgraf I say you can say it however you like! I just thought I'd clarify that people who speak English will say it in English. Not to go into too much linguistic detail here, an 'i' at the beginning of a word will be pronounced 'aee'. Isn't language a wonderful thing! I agree those Spanish names pronounced, in English, the Spanish way, the Aeebeetha, make my cringe!! Or the double zz in Italian words. My husband does that - 'metsanine'! Arghh🤦‍♀️ Anyway, I think the horse has been flogged enough now, hopefully no more comments from the great public on the subject! Thanks for this little chat x
