I think the reason for Colossus not relying on food in his steel form necessarily is because at that point his heart is basically acting like a kinetic battery and he's essentially a humanoid automaton.
@@scluciano I saw one with his heart Literally ripped off. He stayed the rest of the comic in metal form. It's been a while and I haven't paid so much attention. I don't remember well
There's a story I read years ago where Colossus is with Nightcrawler and Wolverine and theyre fighting Omega Red on a train. Omega basically grabbed Colossus' segmented armor so hard it ripped away like it was a skin and showed muscles beneath. I only ever seen it as him fully transforming into the organic steel. That story just wasnt well researched
You mentioned Colossus eyes are vulnerable, "The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Deluxe Edition #3" from 1985, it says Colossus eyeballs "can withstand and deflect the impact of a .45 caliber bullet".
The confusion comes from the difference between Ultimate Colossus- whose eyes remained flesh after changing- and 616 Colossus, whose eyes turned to steel. But, yeah, this was some surface-ass research
Colossus's steel is essentially an osmium alloy - and he is solid. When the XMen were captured bu Dr. Doom, it was confirmed that he does not breathe in his metal form. When they fought the Brotherhood in DC, He suffered deep acid burns that went far below the surface. Another time fighting tje Brotherhood, he was superheated by Pyro and then super-cooled by a nitrogen tank, which fused him in place - it required Rogue taking his ability and then the Morlock's healer to save him once back in his human form. It has never been a shell/skin/armor.
Locked in a test of strength, Hulk demonstrates his superior power by bending Colossus's arms backwards at the forearms, breaking them. Beast later uses a laser in the lab to heat his arms up near their melting point, while Strong Guy bends them back into place; his arms needed to be re-set in their metal form before he transformed back to his human form to avoid serious injury to them. Edit: this was taken from a wiki page. I thought it was really interesting that he could be injured and would have to remain in his metal form until "repaired". I was also very disappointed that it wasn't mentioned in the video.
To clarify, these other abilities he's had, such as liquify his Metal or Demonic Form, are all different powers he's had at different times, not his BASE powers. With that said, Colossus is my favorite X-Men. He's grown stale over the years, but his recent story is great, but he needs to improve. I used to think updating his powers would make him more relevant. But that's not the way to do it! The writers just need to have him stop holding back. Piotr is a gentle giant, but with all the tragic stuff, let him let loose! Colossus is well aware of the damage/violence he can cause if unchecked! I say if you make Piotr transform, he should be a beast on the battlefield.
@【Chucklebutt】 ʘ‿ʘ Going fwd, with all that Colossus has been through, I wouldn't mind seeing him let loose. Not actively wanting to kill anyone, but putting out more than he normally would. Like if he was to come face to face with a Sentinel. We know he can take it, but to see him absolutely demolish it by himself would be a good start!
Yeah, it goes beyond power capabilities. What makes characters interesting is their situations and how they deal with them. This includes family drama, love interests, interactions with interesting villains, points of view/beliefs, etc. Take, for instance, that his transformed state functions analogous to Luke Cage (strong and tough) and Thing (strong and tough). We've seen more consistently interesting explorations into their tragedies, communities, relationships, and beliefs; plus, they are often in comics where their spotlight isn't shared with more than 3-5 other characters for extended periods. Colossus, being often the quieter person, has had his development stretched over decades as relatively one note. He's interesting, but his Russian connection hadn't been made central to his struggles often, and when it did, it was often weird. This stuff with Mikhail and the Cronicler (though tragic and slow for Poitr) is giving his life some interesting turns and twists.
The way they talked about the liquid metal makes it sound like the T-1000, but the only time this ability was seen was when he was a Horsemen of Apocalypse.
we've rarely seen or close to non of accounts where he losses it (actually, it was when he became juggernaut but still holds back) writers keep holding him back all the time.
Perhaps we could explain his breathing through the idea of metallic oxidation. His physiology could counteract his metal body oxidizing by converting that oxidation into usable oxygen for his body. This would mean while his lungs wouldn’t need to actually function in the normal sense oxygen would still be required for him to survive, this would allow him to still function in water due to the presence of oxygen in water but if you were to put him in a void it could mean trouble
@@timboslice980or his voice isn't produced by vocal chords in metallic form? Maybe in metalic form his larynx acts more like a speaker than passing air through a flesh valve
The thing I always loved about Colossus is that his transformation was woven into this form of being beyond just the physical aspect. His backstory and link to communism and the pitfalls and trappings that came with that Soviet communist experience made him human during a time where there was still a lot of hate for anything communist. The writers didn't use him as much as a trope to swing ideals where oh he was a Soviet and now things are better, they really wanted to show that he was a person no matter what. And the fact that they steered away from the concept of his powers making him more like a golem character and still so very human has been a great part of that. He really is an over looked character.
In OG canon, like all mutants, his "infinite" well of power came from an extradimensional source. And his new liquid form, that is probably exploring his further control over his ability of technically being a metamorph. Further explored, he'd probably be polymorphic and able to be different materials as well.
His strength comes from being a metal form of muscles as his bones are a metal form of bones and both are part of what make him “ invulnerable “ he is solid …. In an issue where he was super heated then super cooled his skin cracked and when he was injured by steel knives and throwing stars in both cases he bleed energy ( both cases magneto mentioned it as he healed Peter’s wounds )

Wait a minute isn't that a contradiction though? If his joints are susceptible to damage can't he work around this with liquifying his metallic form jarring damage? While he would be able to do so when he has his Liquid Metal abilities, those aren't his base powers. So, it's not a thing he'd be able to do every time he gets a joint jacked up
This video is not as well constructed as one would believe. Take, for example, that in all references to his metal liquefaction abilities, there wasn't a single image of him actually liquefied or any mention that it was a temporary power given from being made into a horseman in a future timeline. Not only is it not a base ability, it was brief, it was in a random future, it was essentially engineered, and it isn't even relatively recent. It has always struck me more as a happenstance side effect of bonding to the extra-dimensional metallic molecules than an actual direct power. Much like in some myths, magic and magical beings happen to be weaker to or weakened by iron, or vampires happen to be vulnerable to wood. Those reality warping powers and mystical effects seem to be vulnerable to his steel form, but he himself has no specific anti-magic power.
I've got an old marvel magazine wich have a Colossus character page. That's mentioned that he doesn't need to breath or eat in his metalic form. And his eyes are capable to withstand a high caliber gunshot.
Love your video. Really awesome Just want to point out saying organic steel is basically like saying organic skin. I know a lot of people don't realize this but steel is in fact an organic thing.
He does need to eat when in human form, but i think when Colossus suits up his metabolism or his calories per minute is slowed down but not entirely gone. Being metal does have its advantages and disadvantages. Imagine being metal while you have electrical current running through you, nobody human would be able to touch you.Unless they're wearing PPE.All you feel is a tickle. I think if Colossus had a big enough meal he could go for a long time without getting gassed out.
I would suspect he doesn't 'need' to eat or breathe, but it's more of a habit, more than anything else. I.E. He's used to breathing, and when he turns metallic, he unconsciously keeps going through the motions. But if he consciously held his breath, he would never feel the impulse that he was suffocating. Same with eating or any other biological function. What would be a more interesting question is, would the material in his digestive track get transformed as well? If it did transform, that could create an interesting possibility of needing to clear a clog with c4...
Colossus is not vulnerable to vibranium. Colossus is vulnerable to Antarctic vibramnium aka Anti-Vibranium, which can destroy all metal including Adamantium.
Hello hope you get this message about the biology of Collosus's eyes if you read his earlier bio under powers and abilities it states right in there that his eyes while in armored form can withstand a 45 caliber bullet at point blank range so yes I would say his eyes are completely bullet proof!
I had always thought he had all the regular functions of his none steel body when in steel form. I know he can sustain damage in steel form that prevents him from reverting back to humanoid form as well. I winder if it can happen the other way around too
It is stated that his classes eyelid goes down to that detail and it is organically within him, so yes, he is in all in all bulletproof in the eye and everywhere
So he's basically the best of 3 worlds. 1. T-1000 2. T-800 3. Human when he wants to eat/drink/mate Seems like a better gig then Juggernaut whies huge no matter what but also has every power you could want invincible, stronger then any being in known universe, zero downside other then being grotesque.
you know it's funny that he says that colossus has "weaknesses" like his eyes or joints but all of those "weaknesses" are a null and void when he can liquify that gives colossus an immediate healing/regeneration factor.🤔🤨🧐
Man’s eyes are vulnerable but them eyelids aren’t I’m sure it’s like holding a water balloon inside a container as long as man’s has his eyes closed he good
I don't know about his current powerset, but if I recall correctly the original Marvel Universe series classified him as class 75 (able to lift 75 tons) and his eyes were able to resist damage from anything up to a .45 round.
Lol my youngest so was named after Havoc and Colossus. Alexander Nicolayevich.😂😂😂 He’s over 6ft Strong and when he was young he definitely raised Havoc (like all children do)😂😂😂
if you enjoy this character you will love his return from death its probably one the best X-Men stories I have read it is kind of a strange journey, but the highlights of Cyclopes power and why he is the leader and how much they care for Peter is very good media, certainly a stand out story line in the X-Men series as there are many beyond and better than the Phoenix saga.

Colossus eyes can withstand gunshot of a 45 caliber bullet. His body comes from another dimension it's s metal shell that contains energy.
Colossus, one of the cooler X-men... glanced over in the movies.
The question that keeps me up at night
Intro caught me off guard inside the gym
I thought all of his organs had second coats of metal around them, sort of like how Thing's organs were all, also rocks.
With how even his tongue turns into steel I think everything remains in its normal spot but just becomes steel
Solid even down to his eyelids
From what I read as a kid in an x-men handbook, his eyes can withstand up to a .45 caliber bullet at point blank range.
He moves the same in metal form as normal. He's a big man, of course quicker people move around him.
Can you please do Iceman next...
Colossus has always been my favorite. He has both brawn & brain.😮
From what I remember from back in the day, his eyes were supposed to be able to take a .22 bullet.
I had always thought he had all the regular functions of his none steel body when in steel form. I know he can sustain damage in steel form that prevents him from reverting back to humanoid form as well. I winder if it can happen the other way around too
He's strong even when in his human form his sister saw him lifting 100 lbs tree logs with ease prior to his mutation showing up
If his arm is broke as a human he cant transform untill the arm heals normally
It is stated that his classes eyelid goes down to that detail and it is organically within him, so yes, he is in all in all bulletproof in the eye and everywhere
In a french adaptation of the comics many many years ago his metalic composition was refered as osmium and not steel. damn time pass quick >
Same in the US. At least when I was reading X-Men in the 90's-2000. Another type of metal like adamantium, vibranium, cadmium, etc but living.
I was going to make a comment to the narrator to just say "osmium" just once but read down the list to see if the comment had been made. Gg!
I think I have left with about as much knowledge as I had coming in 💀
2:20 Will Smith
616 Colossus’ eyes are bulletproof up to at least .45, while the one from the Ultimate universe showed a weakness to it.
Ladies must like the fact that he can stay rigid for long intervals
So he's basically the best of 3 worlds.
1. T-1000
2. T-800
3. Human when he wants to eat/drink/mate
Seems like a better gig then Juggernaut whies huge no matter what but also has every power you could want invincible, stronger then any being in known universe, zero downside other then being grotesque.
Wow. 18 minutes, to actually, not explain, a god damned thing. 🤯
Ikr! I think the voice is just as AI generated as the dialogue!
You said the same thing twice 🥴🫠
Great presentation ❤
I feel like each different variants of colossus has different needs
Colossus was one of my OG OP comic characters... until Planet Hulk snapped his arms with barely any effort.
Not sure how hard you looked for information on 616 Colossus. 2 min on Google would confirm his eyes are highly bulletproof (45 cal).
"There are indications..." My man it's literally a whole story arc.
He says indications because that's all he knows about it. The entire dialogue is hollow, not Colossus. 😂
Out of all marvel heroes, I think Colossus deserves a movie
His eyes can withstand and deflect even the impact of a .45 caliber bullet
Imagine if colossus gained the powers of the juggernaut
Colossus can no longer liquefy his body as those abilities were granted to him by Apocalypse as he transformed Colossus into his horseman of War.
you know it's funny that he says that colossus has "weaknesses" like his eyes or joints but all of those "weaknesses" are a null and void when he can liquify that gives colossus an immediate healing/regeneration factor.🤔🤨🧐
why this video feel like if it was made using chatgpt
Man’s eyes are vulnerable but them eyelids aren’t I’m sure it’s like holding a water balloon inside a container as long as man’s has his eyes closed he good
foxs colossus was badass...i liked that version alot and loovveddd how shiny he was just wish he was much bigger
