Nick, I have watched and watched and watched this video trying to get the text inside the circle like you did in this video. Yesterday 1-9-22 I FINALLY saw that you kept both the circle and text selected then hit flip, and it worked perfectly! Thank you for doing all the videos that you have done.
Thank you. Your pacing is perfect and beginner friendly, straight to the point but not skipping stuff that might not be obvious for everyone. Just perfect!
Please keep it up Nick👌 At minute 3:10, to perfectly adjust the rapped text, just make sure to align the text to the center (not to the left nor to the right), before putting the text on to the path. Then deselect everything, select the circle and rotate it 90° clockwise. Tadaaa!!
i worked in web from 1996-2013...gave it away for 10 years. Forgotten everything I once knew. My brain is fried at 57. I know these features existed in Freehand and Illustrator years ago. Thank god for Logos By Nick :) I'm doing a deep into Inkscape, which looks like an excellent tool. Its not a design course, but my pride won't let me hand in any old crap..its gotta look good. so I'll be watching lots of these vids.liked and subbed, and thanks for the resources.
Incredible video, short, concise and answered all my questions except one........ which you then answered on the new version (Spacing when you put the text on the inside of the circle). Well done. You've def earnt my sub!
I don’t use inkscape that often anymore, but I have to say I appreciate the quality and comprehensiveness of these videos. Sometimes I watch your videos just for the concepts. Keep it up!
I know this video is a little old but, this is a good example of how "Knowledge" transcends time. I needed to wrap the text around an object to create templates for laser engraving wooden coins and ornaments. It worked great and I look like a hero thanks to you. I'll be doing a TH-cam video of laser engraving and there will be a shout out to you. Keep broadcasting!!
This one helped me settle back down after seeing too many people's Inkscape videos, installing my own new version and finding I'd forgotten how to do Anything! Thank you!
Micros are great! This is exactly what I needed done, I searched, I found it, and clicked Subscribe. Good work, good pace of your instruction and I like the fact that you covered all angles... writing outside the circle, inside it, text too cramped, etc., etc. Good job and thanks.
i just discovered your channel today and cant even begin to describe how thankful i am to have such amazing resources like these available for free. this is like a treasure trove!
Excelente Nick! I've actually gone from ZERO (never ever studied or tried graphich design) to be able to make a decent simple logo thanks to yout tutorials ! Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge and experience with this tool.
As usual, you rock sir! I learned with the "old" way of this video and just noticed there's an update. oh well, it completely worked for me and I'm happy with it. Cheers!
Man, I'm glad this video popped up immediately, I've been searching videos on how to wrap text and everyone else makes it so complicated for someone that has no training other TH-cam lol Thank you!!!
I highly recommend supporting Logos by Nick by purchasing the Inkscape, GIMP, or other tutorials available in the Master Course modules available at a reasonable price! Thanks Nick, Based on the fact that you have provided such an extensive library of very well made, and free of charge TH-cam educational videos covering Inkscape, GIMP, and other apps, I did find it a pleasure to support your efforts by purchasing your Master Course Bundle, which I have found very useful in gaining a little bit better knowledge of the various graphics design apps that you cover in your various You Tube videos. In addition, it is a great help to have a little more personal access to "picking your brain" regarding a specific question or concern I might have as I learn to use these awesome open source applications. Thanks for all your help and for continuing to produce such quality training and tutorials without solicitation whatsoever. Keep up the good work. Jeff Robarge Tucson, AZ
If you don’t want to finalize the text because you may want to alter the path or the text later, you can make the path invisible e.g. by setting fill and stroke to none. So you don’t lose the path and your text remains editable! But how can you find the invisible path when your design has become more complicated? No problem: select the text and press Shift + D. The path will be selected and you can set a temporary stroke colour to work with it. Shift + D is labeled "Select Original" in the menu (Edit - Clone) -- I think it’s nice that it doesn’t only work with clones but also with text on a path. :-)
Thank you for all these tutorials! These are easy to listen to and follow along! There are not many other channels that do frequent inkscape tutorials, and are this great! Thanks again!
If you want to learn more about how Inkscape works, I have a 50+ part video series where I explain all of the tools and features in Inkscape and demonstrate how they work. Here's the link if interested: logosbynick.com/inkscape/
Brilliant tutorial! Would be nice to rotate the text instead of the circle because my circles are just pizza slices, would have to create another transparent circle which radius is connected to the source pizza:)) so I`ll take a look at your playlist:)
Thanks so much, Nick. I've been trying to do this throughout last night on my project logo design using inscape for the wrapping text which is quite impressive. Am grateful bro.
Thank you. I have been trying different things that never worked so now it does and it was great that you said about bringing down the lines to line it up, would not have thought of it. Thanks
Nick..I like to say Many Thanks again. I have learnt a lot from your tutorials and this video was a good refresher for me today....Thank U, Thank U..as I have saved lots of time and money on our logos.
Thank yo very much for this tutorial! It is exactly what i need. Another question: how to put the text below the circle in correct reading direction as you did with the words"AROUND A CIRCLE" in the title of this tutorial?
He actually showed that in the video - if you are capable of a little deduction yourself. Did you see how he inverted horizontally to make the text align to the inside of the circle. Well what you can do now is make a circle that is bigger than the first circle and align them with the alignment tools. Now let the text you want at the bottom of the original circle follow the outer circle instead. Then flip horizontally and voila the text is on the insid of the outer circle but still on the outside of the inner circle (because it is smaller). Now it is a simpe task to shrink the outer circle until the top of the letters on the inside of the big circle meets the outside of the small circle, just like the bottom of the text that meets the circle with the bottom part of the letters already on the circle. Again just unselect the text, and rotate the outer circle until the text is aligned the way you want. Convert the text to path and delete the outer circle (remember to adjust the letter spacing first to make the text on the inside of the circle look nice). Simple as that.
@@beninua This is the answer I needed. Would have been great to see that in a video. Inside Gimp it works differently which is where I normally do it, and didn't realise I would have to do it this way in Inkscape. Thanks for the video. Has helped a lot.
Draw another slightly larger (you'll see why it needs to be bigger when you do it) circle and wrap that second text around that. Next, flip the text vertically, and you're done.
You can duplicate the first circle then add the bottom text to this path but move the vertical kerning on the text to the top. It will then fit like the top text when you flip the circle.
fugging awesome inkscape tuts! when i used it 15 years agom tere were no tutorials at all. 2019 is awesome! i can youtube everything because inkscape can be tricky, but its soooooo eazy
Thanks, this helped. If you know you'll want the text to be centered, use "align center" in text options BEFORE you put it on the circle. Seems to be working nicely :)
If it helps anyone I found that with the CTRL+SHIFT+T text editor there is a percentage value for position along an attached path. So to achieve an exact placement to the top or bottom of my circle I was able to set that value to 75% and 25% respectively, with the text set to align centre (which can be set with the top bar menu when you have the create and edit text tool (F8) selected.
This is great thank you, I do have one question as I am very new to this stuff. How can I have text at the top inside of the circle without it being upside down and back the front.
UPDATE 2023: There is a better way to do this. New tutorial: th-cam.com/video/WZSy2ejgCRk/w-d-xo.html

This comment saved me so much time. I didn't notice he had both selected and I thought I was doing something wrong. Thanks Stranger!
I was looking for the same thing and you saved my evening ! Thanks 🙂

Such a cool video King Of Graphic
Thank you
Genial nick, gracias por tus tutoriales he podido ponerme a prueba he ir diseñando para el negocio de mi familia. Muchas gracias nick
As a beginner - this was SO very helpful!!!
What if you require text at top and bottom of the circle.
Draw another slightly larger (you'll see why it needs to be bigger when you do it) circle and wrap that second text around that. Next, flip the text vertically, and you're done.
Couldn’t you set either bottom or top text to path then redo with the other, rotating your circle independently.
Thanks! I'm using Inkscape for all my designs and i didn't know i can do that great trick! Great work and keep doing these beautiful videos!
You can duplicate the first circle then add the bottom text to this path but move the vertical kerning on the text to the top. It will then fit like the top text when you flip the circle.
plz, keep doing these videos
Will do!
Thank You. Very good instructional video for us beginners.
Thank you for your great help! Right to the point and so well explained!
Another great tutorial of yours, well explained and easy to follow. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you so much. Easy to follow.
Awesome info!! How would you put the text on the bottom OUTSIDE of the circle?
Thanks, this helped. If you know you'll want the text to be centered, use "align center" in text options BEFORE you put it on the circle. Seems to be working nicely :)
It's totally true that the best way to learn is to watch and listen to an expert.
Fantastic tutorial! Thank you

I absolutely love your videos. You've helped me tremendously so many times.
Thanks you very much Nick .. keep Shinning (y)
This is great thank you, I do have one question as I am very new to this stuff. How can I have text at the top inside of the circle without it being upside down and back the front.
I just cant seem to get this to work. I select both the text and circle and go to text-put on path. But nothing happen. Any ideas what im doing wrong?
Same. I’ve even tried it on another laptop and the same thing happens. Yesterday it would work but today not at all.
@@doncompardo7166 Make sure the text is text and not converted and the circle is Path.
OMG Thank you so much! Subscribing and following your Inkscape Tutes!
Thank you so much, that was very helpful!
Really informative and concise video! Thank you for this!
GREAT informative video! Thanks!
Great video thanks but my version doesn't seem to have the tool ' Flip selected item horizontally'? Has this now been removed??
