Thank you. I am going to try this. I tried other inkscape tutorials to get the bottom text the way I wanted it but it never came out right. What you did looks great. I was struggling with getting my lower text (inside a circle) vertical way too long. Thank you for this video! I have SO much to learn on inkscape for my glowforge projects.
Great tutorial. How do you delete the guide circles without affecting the text. Even when I group the entire logo , deleting the guides alters the text ? Thanks.
Thanks! Sorry for my delay! If you select the curved text, click on Path - Object to Path on the top menu. That will lock in the curve and make it independent of the guide circle. Otherwise, as you mentioned, deleting the guide, takes away the effect. Hope this helps!
If you can't find the mirror symmetry, on Inkscape 1.3.2 it is under path effects. Do Object->Path then Add Path Effect and then Mirror Symmetry is in the Generate Section.
Nice video. I'm 1.3.2 for Linux and I can't seems to show the tool in the toolbar that you used for the shield... I can turn it on/off from settings, but it won't show on the bar...What OS are you using and what Inkscape version? Thanks

Hi, I have the inkscape 1.3 version and I can't seem to find the "geometric construction" feature. It's not on my side bar. Do you have an idea how I can add that to my side bar or where I could find it ?
Hello again Rick. I have other questions for you if you don't mind. What page size do you use in inkscape for creating a logo that would be printed on a shirt? does it matter? Is there a proper size you would create the logo at before exporting it to a PNG file? I used a page size of (14.500 by 14.500 in) for a round logo similar to what you did in this tutorial. I had shirts made of it which turned out pretty good I thought. Just wondering if I was doing it right and or could have done it better. Could you please tell me what I should set my Portable Network Graphics at when I save my logo? For example. Should I check the "interlacing" box? What Bit Depth should I set it at. By default it is set at RGBA 8. Should I set a "Compression"? By default it says "0 - No Compression" I read the pHYs DPI should be set at 300 which it is by default. The printer where I had my shirts printed stated that as well. Antialias is set at "2". I don't know what any of these setting are or do. I read once the file is in PNG format that you can't resize the image after without undesirable results. I think. Thank you
Rick, fyi: at 03:09 that red circle one should get after using PATH|Path Effects|Offset is extremely small over here. In fact, it's so small, I simply cannot select it, nomatter what I try. Therefore I cannot resize the blue outer circel. I have no idea why the red circel in your video is so much bigger then the one I am getting, very strange, but a workaround I used is manipulating the + and - sign in the Offset Menu.
Hi Rick another cracking video with plenty of new tips and ideas, thank you for your time and effort Just one quick question, I'm using Inkscape 1.1.1 (3bf5ae0d25, 2021-09-20), but I don't seem to have the Geometric Construction tool. Has this been lost or superseded on the latest version release?
Thank you a thousand times. I checked into what happened to Geometric Construction Tool, and it's gone. I was on 1.1, and just downloaded 1.1.1 and you are right! They must have removed it. You can still find the mirror feature under Path- Path Effects- Mirror Symmetry, thankfully. I do like the tool. I'm going to mention the change in the description of this video and the Quick Start Guide where I featured the thing. Can I give you a shout out in the descriptions? Or do you want to be anonymous? Seriously, thank you.
ha, made me laugh, my husband walked past and the first thing he said was "that's a man City Logo-ish!" and the first thing you then said that it's inspired by a prem league club :D
I'm making a Circle logo, the Visual in the middle is an angel, so when I'm coloring everything using the Fill paint Bucket tool, it colors everything in the middle but if you zoom it you cam see a small white gap that has not been filled up. Sometimes when coloring the blank space the outline darkens and thickens, what do I do??
Great question. Paint Bucket is very frustrating and you've highlighted one of the main reasons why. The tool is actually doing a trace bitmap type of function on the fly when we use it. It "screenshots" whatever is in view and does its math on that image. What this means to us as the designer is the amount your object is zoomed in or out effects the quality of the Paint Bucket. Crazy, right? So you can try adjusting the settings for Paint Bucket, of course, but one way to improve the white space gaps is to zoom in as much as possible and then do Paint Bucket. You can do two or three if its zoomed in to a point where the whole design doesn't fit. Hope this helps!
Could we use inkscape for professional use? Recently i came across some vids in which they were telling inkscape doesnt support cmyk mode . How do you deal with this problem?
Outstanding question. I took this to heart when I started learning Inkscape. Inkscape doesn't yet support CMYK, but technology, especially the current digital landscape, has reduced the issue down to very specific uses. An example of this is some professional screen printers may require CMYK files for perfect color accuracy. However, many POD sites require PNG files (like Inkscape can produce) and PNG are not CMYK. It really comes down to how your artwork colors appear to you on your monitor vs what is produced in the physical world. In my experience, the best way to make sure your colors pop or blend the way you want is to have a sample printed and see for yourself. Modern DTG printers have come a long way. Finally, if you're designing for mobile or web, it doesn't come into play. Pros out there- please feel free to correct me and add your thoughts.
Great video but saved my logo I created to desktop and curved text did not transfer to saved logo. How do you save logo with curved text that is connected to the curved path as you demonstrated in your video? I deleted circle path and the text returned to the linear mode.
Good question! Let's fix this. Here are two solutions: 1. Select the curved text you made and click from the top menu bar Path- Object to Path. That locks the curved text independent from the guide circle so you can delete the guide and retain the curvature. 2. When you save the logo for use our of Inkscape, group all of your logo together and leave the guide circle alone. Then on the Export to PNG settings choose selection only. Let me know of either of these help. Thanks!

Another very good question. The page setting stays constant no matter how far you zoom in or out. I know what you mean though- sometimes when I zoom in and start working on details its easy to forget the original scale of the project. Scale everything back to the right proportions relative to the workspace page before exporting for print.

- Toggle Labels And Markers
- Choose Projection (I'd say Perspective for Rectangular, Stereographic, Fish-Eye, Orthographic for Round Star Maps/Charts)

- Maybe Scale Moon, Planets, Sun
In the Hotbar on the bottom left of the screen
- Toggle Fullscreen (F11)
- Toggle Meteor Showers (Ctrl+Shift+M)
- Artificial Satellites (Ctrl+Z)
In the Configuration Window (F2)
in the TOOLS Tab:
