Great video of that 1971 Seagrave Tiller in action. I’m surprised they are still running a very old Seagrave Tiller from the early 1970’s, and that detroit on that truck is very great and loud. One of the best and loudest things I’ve ever heard in my entire life. Very nice and great video, buddy.
I straight-piped my bus's 6V92, and while it's LOUD it's nowhere near as loud as this truck. The reason is simple: my engine is turbocharged, the truck's isn't. I can't imagine what Jakes would sound like on that truck: even my bus's Jakes definitely announce themselves!
Decoding DD engines is simple enough. 8V71N translates to 8 cylinders at 71 cubic inches per cylinder, so this old Seagraveasaurus is running 568 cubic inches. The old school 231 Buicks would be a 3.8 liter nowadays; this is just under 8 liters worth of fire breathing, ball-busting, all-American brute horsepower! May you ride eternal, shiny and chrome.
