    I tell you a secret about how these bike motors are made.... to fail, on purpose ! What they are doing and lets take a 1000 watt as an example. What they are doing, in you know where, is making a motor coil system that is designed for 40 amps 48 v and putting it into a 20amp 48v motor using thinner gauge wire so that if to twist four 20 amp 48v batteries together, equaling 80 amps, the motor will pull 40 amps through the coil which is supposed to be a 20 amp coil but is wound for 40 amps using thinner wire and with the smaller wire unable to take take the larger amps, 40 amps, it buns up like a fuse so you cant put 4 batteries together to get more distance. If you do the math you can see that the winding is for 40 amps but the wire can only handle 20 amps. That's the scam on bike motor because if you want more distance they think that you will think that well "I must need a bigger motor" when they do the same thing to the 1500 all the way up to the 2000 watt, put four or six batteries together and fizzle because the wire is to small. Maytag does it to in their dryers and washing machines too so this is a known technique on how to sell motors. So remember they can do this with bike motors too and they are.

Simply soldered runs of high temp silicone 12ga from the axle out to the controller. Did the trick- tops out at 40+ mph lol! Thanks for the look inside- I assume they're the same cartridge bearings on both sides?

    You need a bearing puller. much easier, less hammering electrical - also fixes the issue if you have the wire coming out the end of the axle

    • @udsmall7306
      @udsmall7306 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      right? I was wincing with each hit 😱😳😱😳🤣
      on the other hand, with my luck a two armed puller would warp the cover...I think three armed would be best. Then if you want to overhaul the bearings, you'd probably have to pull them off the axle too right? Probably have to pull the freewheel too?
      ugh I've been dreading this job- my DIY 1500w/52 volter tops out at 40+mph...and I've been riding it almost every day for two years now- my only transpo! 🏍️💨

      @udsmall7306 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      right? *"If it ain't broke...don't fix it!?"* 🤔
      A valid reason to crack open the motor would be a need/desire to repack/replace the bearings. Mine and others here have clickers. (mine's intermittent so I haven't bothered..yet) Seems like they used marginal quality bearings and/or grease, no surprise.

      You will find that your use of gears changes dramatically when riding ebikes, because of the assist you get from the motor. But, for your rear freewheel or cassette give yourself a wide range of gearing for hills and the same with your front chain ring. You will end up using less gears, but want to make sure you have a range for those times that you need them.

      damn that's a bummer, looks exactly like my setup- which is a Violamart 1500w. It's a great motor with a 40mph top end, when paired with a 52v batt lol...my bike is basically a motorcycle in disguise. Haven't yet pulled mine and haven't found an exploded diagram anywhere so I don't have a code for you...and it seems Viola doesn't have a clue what they're selling! (I paid $150 for a 1000w motor, they sent me a 1500 instead- score lol!) Let me know if you find a bearing code anywhere, good info to know. You can probably improve yours by overhauling the bearings, repacking with lots of good quality grease. I've been mulling the job myself...

I also often use it as a motorbike😅 very helpful and enjoyable thing! i run it on 48V and top is 60-63km/h on flat. but I am thinking about 52V batt to give it some extra speed boost 😋. happy milwa and drive safe! cheers bro
