    Very informative video, Thanks.
Question: I found two old planes that I have attempted to restore. Looking at the edge square, both are slightly rounded at the edges. Is this normal? If not how do I square them up?

I have an old Stanley iron for a No. 5 jack. The cutting edge of the iron is not flat but convex. Do I need to lap out the entire convex area to flatness or can I lap a mirror edge on what I have? Help! Thanks for the informative videos.!

Thank you Keith!! Your help is appreciated! I guess I'll do some grinding on my fine wheel to eliminate the convex edge and the big nicks and then give it your lapping and flattening routine to go for that beautiful mirror edge like I do with my chisels. This will be the first time I have ever sharpened a plane iron; if I can do chisels, I can do the iron!

Quick question regarding swapping Stanley plane frogs. Can I use a Stanley no 4 type 11 frog on a Stanley no 6 type 11 plane? I own a no 6 type 11 plane but it needs a frog, and all that I was able to find out there is a no 4 type 11 frog. Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

You make it look so fast I have a pitted iron I spent all day flattening the back still showing some pitting how far would you go to remove it and I thought plane irons were supposed to be a 30 degree angle and chisels a 25 degree am I wrong or just personal preference?

    • @bengland6969

Thanks I had to take the cutting edge down quite a bit to get past the pitting.
