  • Hi everyone! This Video is made in Collaboration with my group mates at HKU. We were tasked to do something creative about the vernacular architecture of Hong Kong, so that is when we decided to do a video about the Monster Building in Quarry Bay.
The context of this video was presented with a more Vlog style as the usual informative videos are usually boring. This is our first attempt making an awareness video about Instagram spots in Hong Kong, so we hope after you watch this video, it will inspire some of your thoughts towards a certain location everytime!

This was a very interesting documentary on these residential buildings of an era in a unique and special city's history. And, it's a living history, of course. Given the date of the film, I couldn't shake my anxiety of the very real public health challenges that level of density must be presenting during this time of Covid and I so hope it hasn't brought tragedy to too many residents and their loved ones so far. Also, given the recent political turmoil and stresses of the CCP's induced changes one can only imagine how things like housing might be impacted as the city's population might be trying to adjust this way or that as a result. Every city is always dynamic throughout history but Hong Kong seems to have been on steroids for decades. Thanks for this interesting snapshot of a neighborhood few people would have covered except in photographs.
