Carl Thompson I could swear I seen a later voting year where the board started up accidentally in french, and was corrected after the first or second round of votes. Might have been one of Ireland's 90's years, or it could be more recent. But yes this was the last year the board was in French the whole voting
It all started so well. 10 points given by Italy to my country the Netherlands. As if no one heard Justine her wrong final note. Unfortenately it turned out different ;-)
This was a very annoying voting sequence. Annoying because there was absolutely no sense of excitement or momentum to it. Countries received spurts and then received little to nothing at all while other countries made spurts. Yugoslavia got into the lead and stayed there, taunting the UK and Denmark to catch up, only to end up extraordinarily close, after all that. If Turkey had been the last country to vote, this would've been a thriller.
This voting was so boring. There was no momentum to it, with Yugoslavia pretty much instantly taking the lead and just holding it. I had too much free time so I checked how it would've been had the voting order been reversed, and had it been, it would've been a close battle between the UK, Sweden and Austria until Yugoslavia would sneak in out of nowhere and win.
I love how back then people delivering points just went straight to the point
