RE - The Drums . 35 years on now & I'm still blown away by Jeff Porcaro's drumming on this song . In Particular , his right foot . His bass drum flair on a song with a pretty straight forward beat really makes this song go . It's worth focusing on when you listen to this one again .
First time I head this song was in 1980, I was a high school freshmen. It was a Friday, I know this because I always stayed after school and just wandered around waiting for the Friday night football games. I walked by the concert hall in the school and there was a band practicing and they were doing this song. Such good memories and great song.
Excellent band. You guys have to hear Toto’s ‘I Won’t Hold You Back’. One of their best, IMO. Thanks for your great appreciation of all this older but great music!! 😎
That's my favorite song of theirs. It came out when I was in high school and I immediately learned that keyboard part. Incredibly great soul singing and what a fantastic guitar solo.
This song is a straight up banger and instrumentation is a feast for the ears. This is also one of those songs that can cross through decades of time and crossover and reach other generations as well. You don't see bands like this these days and it's a shame because each one of the members were masters of their craft and played on some of the biggest albums ever then got together to be Toto. I suggest you go down the rabbit hole...you won't regret it.
I find the best song arrangements are where the voice sounds like one of the instruments. Like, the song couldn’t be complete without the accompaniment of that voice playing in tune with the chords of the rest of the instruments of the band. The voice and the way they sing those lyrics are what complete the whole masterpiece. Not sure if I’m explaining that properly, or how to put it into words accurately. But there are just some voices that blends or compliments the whole arrangement just so perfectly it sounds like an instrument.
What made Toto unique is that they had several people in the group with killer vocals. Each one was more than capable of taking the lead vocal as the others would be killing the backup vocals. They really should be recognized as one of the top vocal groups of their time. You mentioned the drums, that would be Mr Jeff Picaro one of the top session drummers in the 70’s and 80’s
Yes!!! I had the pleasure of seeing Toto on their 40th anniversary tour in 2019; they are SUCH a talented group of studio musicians and songwriters individually; when they come together for Toto, it is priceless. Do you want to hear an R&B Fire song by toto? "GEORGIE PORGY", featuring the Disco Great Cheryl Lynn! By the way, one of the members wrote the song "Human Nature", done by Michael Jackson on his Thriller album and later used by the 90's R&B Girl Group SWV for their hit "Right Here" 🔥🔥❤❤👍👍
Y’all!! Love your reaction to this old song! I always wonder how some of these old ones are gonna hit now… this one’s still got it and I love that y’all heard it. 😃
Thanks guys for reacting to Toto again! Hold the Line is a real Classic, and the guitar is so great! Toto's guitarrist Steve Lukather was also a studio musician and worked with Michael Jackson and other artists. Please, continue maybe with Rossana or 99. Thank you! Regards from Chile :-)
World class (Musician's Hall of Fame) Pianist, Guitarist, Drummer, Bassist, and keyboardist with a great lead singer, but 3 others that had lead vocals at times. Rosanna best captured everything about them, with everyone on top of their game. Then other songs take on different feels. I Won't Hold You Back is a ballad sing by their guitarist that is my favorite.
Saw Toto in Concert Live on October 20, 2019 at The Met in Philly closing out their "40 Trips Around The Sun" Tour! This band is Amazing Live!!! It was the last concert that I've been too and the very best. They performed every hit song that they've had over their 40 year history. Toto is a Grammy Award winning American rock band that was formed in Los Angeles, California in 1977 by David Paich, Steve Lukather, Bobby Kimball, brothers Jeff Porcaro and Steve Porcaro, and David Hungate. The band members had met in high school and at studio sessions in the 1970s, when they became some of the busiest session musicians in the music business. Toto backed Michael Jackson on his albums: "Off The Wall", "Thriller" and "Bad". Thanks so much for reacting to Toto's great hit, "Hold The Line" The piano man in the video is the great founding member David Paich, the Badass drummer was Jeff Porcaro (sadly, he passed away), the guitarist is Steve Lukathur, synth and electric keyboards is Steve Porcaro, bassist was (he's retired) David Hungate and the lead singer on this song is Bobby Kimball. Could you please react to my two favorite Toto songs/videos, "Rosanna" and "I'll Be Over You"? Thank you so much for all your reaction videos! Take Care. Much Love & Respect. ✌
TOTAL Classic!! Guitarist Steve Lukather also played the guitar parts on Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” album, with the exception of the solo on the song “Beat It”, which was the incomparable Eddie Van Halen (RIP).
Its nice listening too true pros who give a fuck about the product. Top players in the game and they get the top guys too work with them. Dudes can write a song no doubt. Lukather and Jeff Porcaro are straight beasts man and the other members aint too be fucked with either. Session musician bands are wicked. ARS is another great session group.
You are still very much missed Jeff Porcaro (Drummer) of this band......Back on August 5, 1992 He died....He was only 38 and of the best drummers in my book....ohhhh yurrrrr!
The lead guitarist very underrated Steve Lukather also sings lead on another track called “I won’t hold you back “ you should watch it live from the early 80s
Another great reaction!! Love this song. I have a special request I know y'all will love. Please consider reacting to Renee by The Lost Boyz. The beat is hard and the song tells a very relatable story about love and death in the ghetto. It would definitely go on your playlist as it has always been on mine. The group has many songs but this is by far my favorite and I believe would be yours too. It also gives you another group to gain many good songs to react to. Thanks for considering a reaction to this song.
Ooh, I'd be really shocked if Roseanna wasn't the next song you listened to by them. That's probably their next biggest hit after Africa and is notorious for the shuffle beat played by Jeff Porcaro on drums
I always love piano with electric guitar. Did y'all listen to Cold As Ice by Foreigner? Warrant is a good 80s hair metal band, Where The Down Boys Go is not bad.... I'm forgetting their hit which is bugging me, I'm going to look it up... after this.
RE - The Drums . 35 years on now & I'm still blown away by Jeff Porcaro's drumming on this song . In Particular , his right foot . His bass drum flair on a song with a pretty straight forward beat really makes this song go . It's worth focusing on when you listen to this one again .
Amazing band full of top class session players, Bobby Kimball is the singer and Steve Lukather is the guitar player
Bobby kimball was an absolute beast vocally in his prime. He’s there with ANYONE
Man this song is a soul/rock fusion…Bobby’s voice is ice cold
These guys wrote a lot of arrangements and played a lot of instruments on MJ's 'Thriller'
Steve Porcaro (Toto keyboards) wrote Human Nature. MJ also borrowed/stole the theme of the Toto's Rosanna official video for Beat It as well.

Te perdiste dos años de disfrutarla, fue éxito mundial en todas partes ,como el grupo TOTO.
SALUDOS DESDE CHILE

One of greatest intros EVER.
Holds up pretty well!
TRUTH 70s style
Excellent band. You guys have to hear Toto’s ‘I Won’t Hold You Back’. One of their best, IMO. Thanks for your great appreciation of all this older but great music!! 😎
Steve Lukather is a genius. He's played in the studio for so many people. You gotta check out the song Georgie Porgy. It's my favorite Toto song🔥👍🏼.
I've always loved the "99"
Thank you! It's one of my favorites!
I love Georgy Porgy. Cheryl Lynn on female vocals. Her hit song Got To Be Real was written and produced by who.else...Toto.
@@eileendobbs8009 - "Got to be Real" was also co-written by Cheryl Lynn and David Foster.
That's my favorite song of theirs. It came out when I was in high school and I immediately learned that keyboard part. Incredibly great soul singing and what a fantastic guitar solo.
"Straight For the Heart", "Pamela" and "Stop Loving You" are also good.
Don't forget "holyanna" and "stranger in town"
Steve Lukather "Luke" is one the most versatile guitarists around and one my all time favorites.
This song is a straight up banger and instrumentation is a feast for the ears. This is also one of those songs that can cross through decades of time and crossover and reach other generations as well. Agreed
Bobby's singing and that guitar solo take this song to great heights.
Oh yeah this is a total classic. When I was a little kid I used to collect 45s & this was one of the 1st in my little kid record collection.

"Rosanna" is my favorite Toto song. Definitely worth a listen!
Also Jeff Porcaro on drums, one of the best of all times.

Yes that was always my favorite song from them they blend so well. Ty both for that reaction
They're definitely classic and well liked. I sure would've liked to go to one of their concerts earlier on in their career.
💯 CLASSIC. Loved driving and flying around in GTA SAN ANDREAS to this
Thanks guys for reacting to Toto again! Hold the Line is a real Classic, and the guitar is so great! Toto's guitarrist Steve Lukather was also a studio musician and worked with Michael Jackson and other artists.

He was the best drummer of the last 40 years in pop and rock. Pacaro. Legend
This was 1978 ,,So that makes it 42 years
MEGA-classic. Band was epic. Guy singing the league vocals on this song is Bobby Kimball. He was a beast on the lead vocals for this song. 🎵
What a GREAT band and song 🎸 🎤

And they SRATED IN THE KILLER 70s baby
I started to like this song 5 mayby 10years ago while learning to play drums.Sweet beat!
TOTAL Classic!! Guitarist Steve Lukather also played the guitar parts on Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” album, with the exception of the solo on the song “Beat It”, which was the incomparable Eddie Van Halen (RIP).
Check out Toto-Till the end, one of their funkiest ones. Different singer but still incredible singing
It’s good to hear Chris opening up a bit more and sharing more freely. ❤️

this song was of the hook then and it still is. i am 52 and have loved this since then
guys, check out "I'll supply the love", from the same album (Toto's debut). It's got kinda a disco vibe, mixed with hard rock.
Thanks for at least mentioning the drums!
Luv this tune!
Miss sweating it out on the drums playing this for my girl too!
( miss her)
I have seen this song in several lists of top ten greatest songs ever.
I love finding out a song is done by someone I didn't know, and didn't expect.
Her eyes light up my life!
You are still very much missed Jeff Porcaro (Drummer) of this band......Back on August 5, 1992 He died....He was only 38 and of the best drummers in my book....ohhhh yurrrrr!
Yes, it's true. The best music is from the 60s and 70s. And it's not even close.
Thanks
I have said from 1967 till the end of 1979
Bobby Kimball may have looked like a truck driver, but THAT VOICE, OMFG!
This was 70s gold right here
React to Georgy Porgy off this same album. This was Toto's first album and it's all straight fire!
That guitar solo is brilliant!!
I love toto we used to cover their songs when i was in the Band
I knew you would recognize this song it was played on radio alot
What’s crazy is this wasn’t even the same singer that sang “Africa.” Toto is like The Eagles. Everyone can sing and play music instruments.
Please do Rosanna by them it’s awesome
The Rockn 70s right here , compared to 80s Toto lol wait a minute HOLD THE LINE LOL 70s style

Classic.
Their best imo.
Check out "I'll Supply The Love" his singing is next level on that!
Ooh, I'd be really shocked if Roseanna wasn't the next song you listened to by them. That's probably their next biggest hit after Africa and is notorious for the shuffle beat played by Jeff Porcaro on drums
It's too good to be true
Gotta check out Leo Moriacholio doing Toto's Africa. A killer cover, and a rabbit hole all of it's own.
Come on definitely a classic

Do Rock and Roll Aint Noise Pollution by ACDC
If you like this, you should react to Your Love by The Outfield. The beat is similar and the vocals are great, as is the musicianship.
I always love piano with electric guitar.
Did y'all listen to Cold As Ice by Foreigner?
Warrant is a good 80s hair metal band, Where The Down Boys Go is not bad.... I'm forgetting their hit which is bugging me, I'm going to look it up... after this.
Cherry Pie was their TV hit, Uncle Tom's Cabin is the band/fan favorite hit.
