Toto is a group whose extensive discography deserves to be known. It has popular and catchy songs like this one, but Toto is so much more than that. One of the best bands of all time.
I alwayed loved this song. It's one of my favourite ones from Toto. The funky groove, Bobby's vocals and the spooky, disco/boogie-like bridge. It may lack Lukather's solo but it doesn't have to be in every song. This song catches you off guard and is so positive.
Bobby Kimball's vocal range is one of the most striking characteristics of the band, no autotune arrangements like trap singers do today, one of the incredible privileged voices of ToTo, these modern music analyzers don't believe it today, young people, pre and post 80´s music.
"Don't you ever doubt Toto!" Truest words ever spoken. You guys have decades of great songs to discover. And God, Jeff Porcaro was absolutely the greatest drummer ever. Period. I hope you give the Joseph Williams years their due. It's my favorite stuff.

RIP Rod Temperton, the writer of the song Thriller (Wikipedia MJ page quote - "When Rod Temperton wrote the song 'Thriller", he wanted to call it "Starlight" or "Midnight Man', but settled on 'Thriller" because he felt the name had merchandising potential.' Yes! This band has great musicians in it! Try 99 next. Of course there are a lot of songs to choose from, but I really love the chords and that piano pattern bridging the chorus and verses, etc.

It starts with hard rock, then Bobby kicks in with a disco beat, then back to rock, disco, rock, and finally at the end, a Latin beat, and it's all so damn danceable! A masterpiece. You should check out their albums 'Kingdom of Desire' and 'Falling in Between', and Steve Lukather's 'Candyman' and 'Bridges' records (both are secret Toto albums featuring band members) Those are more heavy rock oriented.
As you said it is incredible that this song wasn't a big hit in rankings, but it was the 80's and the competition was hard. Here in Latam Toto is very well known, loved and respected. I think all of my firends have at least a greatest hits CD. They are the 80's. Regards from Chile 🙂

Nooooowwww the next TOTO song you need to hear is 'I Won't Hold You Back' off of TOTO 4. It's not a banger. A true love song. But the chorus gives me goose bumps every time. Don't get me wrong it has a guitar solo. It is just right for this song. The guys were so clever to place this song on the album in between 'Rosanna' and 'Africa' on side 2.
